Chapter 40 - Breeding Three Thousand Dream Gods

Hades returned to the Underworld and then stopped, saying, "Charon, you should go back to the magical star to practice."

"Understood!"

"Master Hades!"

Charon nodded. He was fully aware of his current situation.

Right now, he was too weak.

If this were a future where mythology had gradually faded, then possessing a small universe at the apex of the eighth sense would allow him to sweep away nearly everything.

But now? He was merely a first-rate god. How disappointing!

Indeed!

The strength of gods and the conversion of small universes are not the same thing.

Gods are divided into six levels: third-rate gods, second-rate gods, first-rate gods, main gods, Titan master gods, and god kings.

The small universe operates differently.

The small universe is diminished by the will of the gods.

Power is what is most suitable for human cultivation.

When humans reach the seventh sense, if they can master it perfectly, even burn their own life force, and maximize their small universe; especially if they have some divine blood or treasures, they can seal a third-rate god with relative ease.

And!

If they reach the eighth sense and transcend the realm of life and death, they can confront second-rate gods directly.

If they can awaken sacred garments, such as the divine garments, they can even battle against first-rate gods.

This is the classification of small universes for humans. Charon was at the level of a first-rate god. Combined with the strength of a former Titan god, he could certainly overpower a first-rate god.

But let's consider the context: this was during the Titan War. It was a time when quasi-sages roamed freely and sages were scarce. Main gods were common, first-rate gods were practically worthless, and Titan main gods could emerge from any mountain.

In this scenario, Charon understood his position well and knew it was best to return to his training.

As Charon departed two figures, one golden and one silver, appeared behind Hades. They were Hypnos and Thanatos, the twin gods of sleep and death. They were Hades' most loyal followers, steadfast until death.

"Master Hades!"

The twin gods bowed slightly in salute.

Hades replied calmly, "Let's go."

"Yes!"

The three gods stepped into the Underworld together. As for their willingness and loyalty? Hades didn't need to ask; time would reveal that. They had given him their soul crystals, and their future would demonstrate that following him was the wisest choice.

"Lord Hades."

As they continued, Hypnos suddenly spoke.

Hades halted and asked, "What is it?"

Hypnos respectfully replied, "Master Hades! I am conceiving my children in the Underworld. Would you like to see them?"

"Dream God..."

Hades understood who Hypnos was referring to and nodded after a moment of thought.

Hypnos and Thanatos led the way, soon arriving at the depths of the Underworld.

As they walked, Hypnos explained, "Master Hades, these are my descendants. As gods of dreams, they can only be conceived in the Underworld due to their lack of origin. This is the territory of Tartarus, and I have no other choice."

Clearly, if it were possible, Hypnos would prefer not to conceive his children here, especially since it was Tartarus. If the need arose, the consequences could be dire.

Unfortunately, there was no alternative. Much like Charon, due to an inherent issue, he could only conceive in the Underworld. At least his situation was better than Charon's; otherwise, Charon might have faced complete dissolution. Even if Charon became a ghost fighter, he would have been merely an ordinary one.

Now, things were different. After encountering Hades, Charon's divine body had been transformed into the boatman Underworld fighter, regaining a complete divine soul with the help of the magical star.

Although his strength seemed diminished, he retained his original essence; just a bit weaker and needed only to grow over time, which wasn't an insurmountable challenge.

Thanatos added "Because of this, Father God and Mother God promised Tartarus certain benefits, allowing Oneiros to be conceived in the Underworld."

Listening to their explanation, Hades nodded without further comment.

To be honest, the lack of authority as Pluto was concerning; it was the core of the Underworld. Once Hades possessed this, the entire Underworld could begin to operate smoothly, making it feasible to transfer the Oneiros to the Underworld for conception.

However, Hades contemplated this for a moment but refrained from voicing it. If the Oneiros could achieve something with their assistance, then it would make sense.

As he pondered the feasibility of this matter, they arrived at another side of the Underworld.

The nine-pointed star on Hypnos' forehead glowed faintly with a dark golden light. A silk thread, resembling a spider's web, began to unravel slowly, revealing a strange space of dark purple shimmering with unusual light.

Hades stepped into it, where he found silkworm chrysalises, like those reborn from cocoons, pulsing slightly as they breathed, following a common rhythm.

Upon closer inspection, he counted a total of 3,000; these were the Three Thousand Dream Gods and the descendants of Hypnos.
