"Here I though that I would die during the apocalypse. I was just standing before death. Argh... Yet not even a single demon took me for a feast. Argh... Even the earthquakes did not hurt me. Talk about standing before falling lava rocks yet, none hit me! Fuck!
"How many times have I tried to get myself killed by the demons? Almost everyday! I am searching for a demon to kill me yet... Yet they are all too weak. Aarghh... Let me go for the next attempt. If I am not wrong , this will be the 600th time.
"Just how lucky it is for you for death to embrace you. One day I am going to die." Yeah. These was Athan speaking. Giving his usual speech after he fails to die. He was currently standing on top of a building. The regions he was at were obviously a danger zone.
He was very far from the Byron Family. The city he was in was in ruins and he was standing on top of the tallest building. The only thing he had of importance was a sword. He was almost completely bare and he did not wear a shirt. Talk about embracing death from all sides...
He was standing with a bare torso showing his toned body. He was someone who never worked out or cultivated but whenever a demon failed to kill him, he would have no other choice but to give back the favor. He was now 18 and his height had reached 6'4.
If people knew that he was after death, it was impossible to tell what their reaction would be. Were they not all striving to save their lives? It would be like spitting in their face by saying that he was seeking creatures that could kill him.
Athan had been moving from one danger zone to another the past two years. the current sword he was carrying around on his waist, he had gotten it from a human like demon that had failed to kill him. The fact he was alive and you failed to kill him meant that you were no more.
He had discarded hundreds of useful armor. He did not even bother taking them to sell them. He felt like life had slapped him in the face when he realized that he did not need to eat to live.
That was his biggest disappointment. He had nothing he needed in this life. No one to return to. Just a meaningless life. The only thing he wanted was to leave this world. He should have given up on the attempts of committing suicide by now but he was just a masochist.
He enjoyed the feeling of almost dying. He always felt like he would one day learn about death if he stayed in the state of almost dead for long. That way, he could find a way to kill himself.
Like for example behind him, he had just killed demon that had failed to kill him. Its armor was worth a fortune and it fit him well but did someone seeking death need to protect himself? He glanced at its axe and it did not even please him.
Looking around, there were hundreds of demons in the air flying around. He sighed for these ones would not even put him in the near death situation. If one looked at him, he had flesh wounds on his back and chest.
The astonishing thing was the pace they were healing. A wound almost reached his innards but it was healing as though it was just a minor scratch. It was obvious that he had had even more wounds few seconds ago it was just that they had healed fast.
He lifted his leg and dived. One might have thought that it was a ocean below but astonishingly, it was the hard ground which had even been hardened after the energy filled the earth.
Well, it was as though Athan was blind or had a brain disorder. One could think that he was going to protect himself the last moment but he fell on the ground his arms open as though he was embracing it.
It sounded like a rock had been dropped from a high ground hit the ground. One watching could have certainly felt the pain in the chest as though it was their own. For beginners, they would term this as suicide.
But to Athan, this was nothing but normal landing. He had failed dying from jumping from a high building a hundred times before the apocalypse. As for now, it was a routine and every now and then, he was jumping from a building. No, he was landing.
He no longer considered this as suicide. Suicide was when he fought a creature more powerful that beat him to death. Though he never once achieved the death he wanted. He moved his hands and lifted himself as he stood up.
Long before, he had even started doing it for fun for that was all he could find fun. But nowadays, it was no longer thrilling as the first times. He stood up like someone who had just tripped and fell forward and he was now standing.
What to note here was that he fell on the tarmac. But when he stood up, not a single scratch. The reason he had landed from the roof was because he had seen a demon that appeared to be more powerful.
Well as for the creature, it was something someone in the fifth stage would have to be wary of. The demon seemed to have sensed him too. This was because it appeared a second before Athan after he had just stood up.
The demon was around 10'. It was wearing armor that was only available to those of the noble families. It had a broad sword on its shoulder as it looked down down on Athan. Its face was not as scary to Athan but it had orc characteristics.
One thing demons stood out for were their red eyes. As for this orc, its eyes were glowing brightly. When it looked sideways, a red glow would be left on the path it had crossed.
The orc had pointed ears and its elongated teeth spread outwards. It was supposed to be a scary scene that many would run away from. Even the geniuses of the Byron family had to work together just to get a chance against the orc standing before Athan.
The orc roared and slammed its fists on its chest. It then bent forward and roared at Athan. Athan was not moved. Instead, he was just disgusted with it spluttering saliva on his face which made him look sideways.
After it was done with intimidation, Athan turned to look at its towering figure.
"I am giving you only one chance to kill me. I will let you beat as much as you want but if I end up alive, then know that you will not live to breath the air of this planet you invaded," Athan said as he opened his arms.
He had one and one policy in life. Always embrace death. The second policy was that all those who failed to give him death were going to die in his place. The orc was confused. It could understand his language.
But understanding the language was different for with all its understanding, it could not understand his words. Who was dumb enough to let the enemy kill them? But it just conceded.
The orc tested the waters. It raised its huge sword which was almost the same size as Athan. It did not want to kill this arrogant human fast. It wanted to put him through pain. It swung its sword sideways and hit Athan with it.
Unexpected to the orc, Athan did not dodge. The sword hit him on his chest with its wide part. Athan was sent flying meters away as he crashed into buildings. The velocity he was sent flying with made him break three consecutive walls.
When the sword landed on his chest, he splattered a mouth full of blood. But other than that, there was no broken rib or chest bone. When the orc saw the results, it was excited. It did not hesitate as it started running into the building.
It found Athan who was just standing up and wiping the dust from his body. His face was dyed with white and so was his body. He coughed as he tried to find way out but he was just in the process when five strong fingers grabbed his head.
Funny how his head fit perfectly in its palm. Those were his thoughts as the orc dragged him outwards. The orc forced him to stand up as it took a step back and swung its sword once again.
Again the sword hit him on his chest sending him flying. Athan sighed. Just how stupid was this orc. It should have been tearing him into pieces. The few seconds he was sent flying, his inner organs were going to get healed.
But it was though the orc read his mind. Athan waited for a crash but it never came. Instead, it was another bang on his chest. He was astonished by the orcs speed. It was probably a powerful one among its kind.
For this round, Athan felt a slight burning on his chest and as he hit the ground with his back, it cracked. Finally some damage... He thought with a smile.
