That night, they sat together by the window, the stars glittering like tiny diamonds against the velvet sky. Adrian had pulled a chair close to her bed, and she leaned against his shoulder, her hand resting on his arm.
For a while, they simply stared out at the night, the silence between them comforting rather than oppressive.
"Do you ever think about what brought us here?" Bianca asked suddenly, her voice soft.
Adrian turned to her, his brow furrowing slightly. "What do you mean?"
"I mean… this. Us. How we ended up here, breaking all the rules."
He smiled faintly, his eyes softening. "I think about it all the time. I think about how meeting you turned everything I thought I knew upside down."
Bianca felt her heart swell, but the ache of uncertainty still lingered. "Do you regret it?"
Adrian shook his head, his expression serious. "Never. Do you?"
She hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. "No. But I'm scared."
