We finished showering, drying our hair, and getting dressed. I finished earlier than Kat because I didn't care much about makeup and only fixed my hair enough to not look like a cavewoman.
She took an extra thirteen minutes doing her makeup, making sure she looked as beautiful as possible. Standing beside each other for once, she looked a bit prettier than me.
We've always looked the same despite not being twins, but while I took Dad's dark brown eyes, she got Mother's stormy cold blue ones.
We headed downstairs with a plate of finished cookies and a bottle of water I had left in Kat's room. We heard giggling as we entered the living room, where Mom and Dad were watching a sitcom, completely unconcerned with us.
I glanced at Kat, who looked like she just swallowed a lemon. She looked betrayed that Mom and Dad had been here the whole time without coming to save their little princess.
