DRAKE'S VIEW
Anna was always in my mind. I didn't contact her, nor did she contact me. It was probably for the best. I wanted to believe that the Colonel was a good man, but my instincts told me otherwise. That was one of the reasons I tailed Anna. She was there at the stables, five miles out of town, where she said she would be. I was skeptical for a couple of days and checked it out for myself. It seemed legitimate. I didn't let Anna see me. I knew that she would have been upset if she caught me spying on her.
There were pieces of the puzzles regarding the Colonel and my brother that were missing. How did the Colonel know about my brother's arrival in town so suddenly? Unless he had him tailed, like I did, but Drenmore was too shrewd, and he would've evaded Colonel James's minions. A lot of things didn't add up, like why did the Colonel disappear the day my brother came into town?
