ANNA'S VIEW
"Anna," Colonel James said, eyeing me from head to toe. He looked at me for an explanation. His eyes grew larger, and his mouth opened wide. Why on earth are you still in your dress from last night, if you don't mind me asking?" He searched my face for an explanation.
"I was so tired that I dozed off. I forgot to bathe, and I overslept. I think I was drunk with all that champagne," I laughed nervously.
"Oh dear, that's a shame," he said.
"Alcohol is a thing like that, if you are not used to drinking it that often," he remarked. It seemed like he bought the story. "As long as you enjoyed yourself, my dear," he said in a cheerful voice. "I did, more than you know," I said as I smiled mischeviously. "As long as you had a good time, I am happy. It was just a shame that I didn't get an opportunity to say goodbye," he said.
"It was my fault, Colonel. I was too tipsy to come find you, so I told Louise," I explained.
