Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Being the helpless wife, Carole fixed herself after knowing that Aston already went to the office so early in the morning. She felt guilty about throwing tantrums and shouting at him last night. He didn't even have free time to leave the office this week. He got very busy with a lot of meetings.

Carole made sure that she would look presentable and pretty to her husband's eyes later. She will surprise him in the office by bringing him breakfast and lunch. It's been so long since she last did it and as a peace offering today, she will do it again.

She wore a white top with a black fitted skirt up to her knees. A white stilettos and thin makeup since Carole is already pretty. She put that sling bag around her shoulders and combed her hair using his fingers for the last time before leaving the guest room.

The driver drove her to the company. She greeted all of the employees who welcomed her with their sweetest smiles. The staff in the lobby quickly told her that her husband is in office after finishing an early meeting today.

Carole felt more guilty about this, feeling that Aston is indeed working hard for the company and his family.

She giddily waited at the VIP elevator which only she and Aston can use. Well, there is one person who can use it too, her best friend, Natalie. It was her who gave her permission to use that since they were already like twins at everything.

Thinking of Natalie, she didn't reply to her voice messages yesterday because she thought that she would get busy. Besides, she didn't know what to say to her. The content of that photo was still processing to her and it was indeed hard to believe.

Right now, she wanted an explanation, a clear explanation from her husband, Aston himself.

To her surprise, the elevator welcomed her with someone unexpected in it. That someone is Natalie, her best friend. Both of them looked stunned to see each other.

"What brings you here, Carole?" Natalie asked.

That question made Carole confused. She should be the one asking that to her after seeing her coming down straight from the floor where her husband's office is.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" Carole asked.

This made Natalie flinch. She felt embarrassed and didn't know where to put her gaze.

"I-Uhm, went here because I'm looking for you, but sadly you are not here," Natalie said, changing the topic as she stepped out of the elevator. Before Carole could even answer, she quickly gave her a warm hug.

"I miss you," she whispered.

Hearing this, Carole's heart softened. Like all of the things she found out last night disappeared. Her other hand hugged Natalie back.

"I miss you too, sorry I didn't respond to you yesterday," she said.

Natalie smiled at her after their hug. "It's okay." She looked at Carole's other hand and noticed the paper bags she was carrying.

"What are those?" she asked, pointing to those paper bags.

Carole sighed and held the bags tighter. "I wanted to surprise my husband by bringing him breakfast since he left so early this morning. The staff told me that he had early meetings," you can feel the guilt from her voice.

The word 'husband' rang badly through Natalie's ears. She wanted to laugh after seeing Carole still this dumb after seeing that picture. Well, she was right, her best friend will take it as someone who edited that picture on purpose to ruin Aston's reputation in the business world.

"Do you need some help? I can carry those for you," Natalie offered, but the truth is, she will never want herself to carry things for Carole. She was just doing it for a show.

Carole stepped back, "No, it's fine." She declined, feeling embarrassed to let her best friend help. "I can handle this." She pressed the elevator going up.

"Uhm, can you please wait for me in the lobby, if it's alright? It's been so long since we last talked," she said.

Natalie nodded. "Sure, you know I miss you and we have a lot of things we need to catch up. See you later,"

The elevator closed and Carole disappeared from her sight. Natalie turned around and rolled her eyes as she smirked.

"I already served him breakfast tastier than those trashy foods you are carrying, Carole." She said walking away.

Meanwhile, inside the elevator, Carole was getting nervous while the floor was going up. She didn't know, maybe she wasn't ready to know the truth or she's not prepared to talk about this, but the time is now.

She needed to fix this five year relationship she didn't want to lose.

Aston's secretary welcomed her with a smile and told her that her husband is inside the office, resting. Knowing that the man was resting, a chance came to her mind.

Carole knocked two times before opening the door even though she really didn't need to. Everyone here knows her and there's nothing to worry about.

She saw the handsome man sitting on his swivel chair with knitted brows while massaging his temples. He looked stressed.

Carole cleared her throat. "Hello, can I come in?" she smiled.

The man's expression turned more serious as he turned the chair straight from where the door was facing.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, impatiently wanting the lady to go out, but then he recalled that Natalie also came here a few minutes ago. "Did the two bump into each other?" he thought.

Carole helped herself inside. "You head out so early earlier, you didn't get the chance to eat breakfast so I bought your favorites," she slowly put and arranged everything on the table next to the sofa where Aston took guests.

Aston just watched her getting herself busy. Compared to last night, he noticed the bags under his wife's eyes.

"I'm not hungry," Aston cut to the chase.

Carole paused for a while and sighed. "But the food is still hot. You know it's bad if you don't eat breakfast. It's the most important meal." She insisted, continuing what she was doing.

She wanted to believe that a full stomach would fix everything. She didn't want to stress her husband even more by asking him with an empty stomach.

"Stop forcing me like an old woman. What do you want, Carole?" He finally stood from his chair and walked towards his wife with hands in his pockets.

That towering figure of him made Carole feel caged. Aston is taller than him and whenever he will walk next to her in a bad mood, something not good will follow.

"Do you want to act like a cutesy little wife now after embarrassing me last night, huh?" He asked.

Carole admits that it was her fault, but Aston should be apologizing too for pushing her too hard last night, right? But the man did not apologize.

She stepped back and felt the table at the back of her knees. "I wanted to fix things between us," she said.

Aston didn't mind what mistake Carole was talking about since he already committed a lot of mistakes behind his wife's back. He was not in the mood earlier even Natalie seduced him, but now, his libido suddenly wanted something.

He suddenly grasped Carole's arms and pushed her hard on the sofa. He removed his black coat in one go along with his belt.

"If you really want to apologize, you should have prepared yourself for me, right? My little cute wife,"

Carole pushed her husband gently. "Aston, my body still hurts from last night. You sudde–"

She didn't get the chance to continue what she was doing because Aston already kissed her torridly, making her catch for her breath.

"A-Aston, be gentle," she pleaded. "Pleasee."
