Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

The next morning, Carole decided to cook breakfast for her husband. She was eager to get his affection back. She thought that maybe the maid's cooking bored Aston, that's why she decided that she will cook the most delicious breakfast her husband will never forget.

Carole fixed herself early, beautiful as always. Going down the stairs with a sweet smile.

She headed to the kitchen and only asked the maids to prepare the utensils and ingredients she needed. After a while, she was already slicing the vegetables and meat. She even got her finger accidentally sliced in the middle of cooking.

She is very happy. Carole is excited to see Aston's reaction to her cooking. She prepared the dining table and after a few minutes, the house butler told her that the Master had awoken.

Carole dashed outside the dining room and greeted her husband with a kiss on the cheek.

"I have no time for you," Aston said coldly, ignoring Carole as he looked down on his wrist watch.

"I cooked breakfast for you," Carole walked to his front. "You should eat before you go," She looked at her husband from head to toe.

It looks like Aston is already dressed and ready to leave anytime. But she didn't give up and convinced him to eat or at least bring food with him.

"I said get out of my way!"

Aston's angry voice resonated through Carole's ear who was now on the floor after getting pushed by her husband. He looked at his wife with disgust in his eyes, cold and dominant before walking outside.

Carole's eyes were filled with tears. He didn't need to be so hostile to her. He just wanted to surprise and make his mood happy, but she ended up getting pushed away. She wiped the tears in her eyes and went back to the dining table.

She was alone again.

Carole gazed at the foods she cooked and prepared for her husband. It was all useless now. She wanted to at least eat with him, but because of what happened, her appetite was already gone.

She didn't want to eat anymore either. A heavy sigh left her lips. She has everything she ever wanted in life. A mansion, different expensive cars, maids and butlers, money but the thing she longed for couldn't even reach her grasp.

LOVE

Carole wanted to be loved by her own wedded husband. They promised their vows in front of many people including their family, but it was all slowly fading now.

Everything was for show only, for money. Because her family wanted to save the failing business they have, she married Aston.

Wanting to entertain herself, Carole decided to take a self day off today. She went back to the guest room which now served as her room. She sat on her bed and took out her phone as she dialed numbers.

The call rang three times but no one answered.

"I guess she's busy too," Carole thought to herself.

She called Natalie and was about to ask her if she wanted to come with her, but it looks like the other female is busy too. Carole thought that Natalie won't babysit her all the time whenever she feels lonely.

Her best friend has her own life too. They were both adults and not all the time they could hang out with each other.

Carole felt more lonely. She couldn't bring this topic to her family either, especially to her mother. Her mom will just scold her and tell her to shut up and just enjoy the lavish life she has with Aston.

She feels so alone as if everyone is against her.

****

Carole thought that going out to the mall can entertain her and help her to forget the loneliness she is feeling. However, she even realized that going out alone is much more lonely and useless.

Even though there are a lot of people around her, none of them can accompany her or even make her use her time. She sat down on the bench and watched the kids buying ice creams. They are cute and innocent.

Carole suddenly thought of what it would look like if she and Aston had a child. Will it turn out to be like her or like her husband who is always in a serious mood? A small smile escaped her lips. She scolded herself because she looked crazy there smiling alone.

Suddenly, a loud cry echoed through her ears. When she turned her head straight, she saw the other kid, the little girl on the floor crying together with the ice cream she was eating earlier.

Carole felt so disheartened upon seeing this moment. She unconsciously stood up and quickly rescued the little girl. The little boy that was laughing at her earlier stopped when he saw Carole.

"Oh my, are you hurt somewhere?" Carole crouched down to check if the little girl was hurt.

The little girl wiped her tears and shook her head. Carole took out a tissue from her bag and wiped the ice cream from the little girl's hands. She wanted to help her wash hands in the bathroom, but the little girl's parents will look for her.

"What happened here?"

A warm and worried low tone of voice surprised Carole. She turned her head and looked at the towering figure standing next to her and the little girl.

"I'm sorry. Did the kids bother you?"

He quickly held Carole's hand to help her stand up.

Carole looked at this handsome tall man with a firm body wearing a white polo with his black hair brushed up. His sharp jaw became more prominent when he smiled. She fell silent, gazing at this familiar man.

"I've seen him somewhere," she thought to herself

"I'm okay," she replied.

The little girl rushed to the tall man, hugging his legs.

"Uncle, Uncle! Donny tried to take my ice cream," She cried.

The man bent down, lifting the little girl with only one arm. He wiped her tears and then smiled.

"Don't worry, we will buy another one," he comforted.

Carole only watched them, still wondering where she had seen the man's face.

"Royce Cox!" She blurted out, getting the attention of the handsome man who smirked after hearing his name.
