Chapter 11 - Common

After the lecturer had shown them around, Seven and Rolanda were asked to go back to their rooms and rest for the day. She informed them that training would begin the next day, so they should get prepared.

Rolanda left the learning hall first and made her way to the dormitory, and Seven quickly followed after noticing that she had walked quite far from the learning hall.

With a run, he followed and whispered to her from behind.

"Hey! Rolanda!"

Rolanda halted in an instant and turned in the direction of the familiar voice. She spotted Seven approaching her at first glance.

"Sorry, but can I ask a question?" Seven asked upon approach.

Rolanda stared a few times before nodding.

"Sure," she said.

"Alright. You are Draco Wenzel's daughter, right? Why do you choose to be in this university when you are from one of the wealthiest families in Terraverde? I mean, your father has what it takes to get you into the best university regardless of the type of Vessel you vanquished," Seven asked.

However, Rolanda only maintained the complicated look on her face... After hesitating for a while, she heaved a sigh and replied.

"Well, I chose to be here."

"Why?" Seven furrowed his brows.

"Because I am not worthy to be a student of a prestigious university... I'm useless. My father told me that himself," Rolanda had a glare on her face as she spoke, making Seven understand the certain reason for her appearance at Black Star University.

It was now that he understood everything...

She was going through the same thing as him.

'What could I expect? We are both Cat-type Vanquishers.'

Seven scratched the back of his head and thought.

"I'm sorry about what you are going through, Rolanda. Though we have similar issues," Seven smiled slightly.

"Really?" Rolanda asked.

"Yeah. My father despised me for having a disappointing fate, yet I vanquished a Cat-type Vessel after two years of trying. I was forced to Black Star University while my four brothers are at DragonFang University because of that... He believed there would never be a good thing from me, and he called me 'useless' as well," Seven explained.

Rolanda, who was listening to his short story nodded in response.

"Quite similar. But, do you believe you are useless?" She had to ask.

Honestly, this thought had been enraging her mind for long.

Seven's face darkened at the question, having no actual reply to give. Although he knew he was weak, that doesn't mean he was useless.

It might have been certain for many, but not for him.

"Well..."

"I plan to become a Baroness in the Badlands, and there is nothing that can stop me. I will prove to my father that I'm not useless," Rolanda interrupted Seven, revealing her great ambition with a serious expression.

Seven felt the deep sense of seriousness in her voice, showing how ambitious she was. He knew that she must have gone through a lot to say this, but that doesn't mean that the pursuit of gaining a ticket to the Badlands would be any easier.

Even many strong Vanquishers preferred to join the military or live a normal life than to venture into the Badlands. It wasn't just a world of huge opportunities and wealth, it was a realm of chaos!

Getting a Lordship Ticket into the Badlands was more like winning a Mayorship election of a particular city, and it was really hard for one to get one.

Only twenty percent of the Vanquishers managed to gain entry into the Badlands after the tests in the ruined lands.

"That's quite ambitious... I'd love to visit the Badlands, but I don't think I can make it no matter how the urge grows."

MEOW!

"That's ridiculous, you can make it!"

Whisky was actually hearing the conversation between Seven and his course-mate.

'Well, let's see.' Seven responded in his thoughts, not letting Rolanda notice that he could communicate with his Vessel.

"Everyone has their beliefs, and I can see myself in the Badlands in my dreams. I'm fated to be there," Rolanda let out a smile for the first time since Seven met her, causing him an awkward nod after noticing.

"Yeah, true. I just hope to make my Cat a Beast, that's all. After that, I can think of entering the Badlands. If I had to, then I would be the first in my family to do so. My brothers only aimed to become generals in the military. They only want to fight the Sarkers on the battlefield, someday believing they would be among those who will conquer the Mutants and the Voidspawns," Seven said.

"My immediate senior brother is joining the military as well, but the rest of us aimed to become dominators in the Badlands, just like our father, and our grandfather," Rolanda explained, while Seven nodded as he listened.

"My father spent most of his life as a Vessel dealer, although he is a powerful Vanquisher. He just wasn't famous because he chose to," Seven bit his lips and said.

They both had quite a long conversation while they walked back to their dormitory, gradually learning more about each other.

The fact that both of them had things in common made them a little closer, just like Miss Brie had wanted. Rolanda was free to tell him more about her family, and Seven was free as well.

Plus, his disbelief of being able to enter the Badlands wasn't certain. Seven had decided not to be straight to anyone as he knew how cruel this world was. He had always wanted to enter the Badlands since his young age, and he believed that nothing could stop him...

After taking the rest of the day to rest, they both went back to the learning hall the next day. As it was only two students studying the Cat-type Vanquishing course, the hall was quiet enough for them and well comforting.

While they were set and ready, Miss Brie met Seven at first and threw a question.

"So Seven, what's your pet's Skill?"

Seven was left confused about what to say as a response to the question at that time. It was certain that every Vessel gained only one Skill after being vanquished, but Whisky gained three, with the incredible help of the Ultimate Evolution System.

Now, what skill would he have to reveal...?

Even if he reveals one, how could he help Whisky improve the rest when he was still a novice in Vessels' improvement?

After a few seconds, he decided to reveal one Skill...

Luminous Whiskers seemed more like a spiritual skill that would almost appear unbelievable. The Copycat was the worst of them all, making it the strangest.

Since it was a cat that had claws, the Clawplay wouldn't be suspicious at all... In fact, that was a Skill that fit such a cat.

With that in mind, Seven had to reveal this one.

Anyway, he would always try to improve the rest of the Skills...

There was the Ultima Store after all.
