Chapter 15 - The Triple Order Government

The students progressed into the university's field, a vast land space of about 15 square kilometers. This was definitely the right suitable place for Rolanda's Six-legged Jaguar to train, as its skill was Swift.

This was the first time Seven had heard something like that before, but he knew it was because he knew entirely nothing about Vessels and their Skills.

However, after a while in the academy and with his experience with his Vessel, he came to discover that all Vessels obtain skills that are associated with their features. Whisky having the Clawplay and Luminous Whiskers skills was a clear example as it had claws and whiskers as part of its body features.

Well, Seven would just say the Copycat skill was special...

When they walked towards the fields, Rolanda suddenly fastened her footsteps to meet Miss Brie in front. At that moment, a look of disgust suddenly appeared on her face after glancing around the area for a while.

"Excuse me, ma'am. Can I ask a question, please?" Rolanda inquired with an indifferent look.

"Sure," Miss Brie smiled and replied.

Seven, who was standing behind them as they walked, already knew the area of the question Rolanda wanted to ask about, but he only shook his head and listened.

"Why is this university so old and lacking several facilities? Aren't the government doing anything about it?" Rolanda was slightly saddened as she spoke, but it was pretty hard for one to notice.

Miss Brie could only smile at her question and then turned to Seven.

"Come," Miss Brie said.

Without hesitation, Seven hastened his steps and met them. When they were in the same lane, Miss Brie then began to speak.

"Of course, Black Star University is disgustingly old, it's not the Chancellor's doing... The Triple Order Government had chosen to turn their backs on some universities due to repetitive bad performances every year. In fact, I don't think Black Star University is part of the list of Vanquishing Universities anymore."

"Why?" Seven and Rolanda asked in unison.

"You heard what I said earlier? Because of bad performances, and the fact that this university is filled with students from poor or middle-class families. Here, the management doesn't get quite enough to render to the government due to having lesser fees, and this is the second factor for their negligence."

"That's... Nonsensical," Rolanda couldn't help but comment with a glare.

"Yeah, agreed. But you both have to keep this in mind. No matter what, you must be at your best to come out with flying colors and be able to compete with others. Having average teaching facilities might be discouraging, but you can be better than those who had if you work hard, believe, and grasp tight of those you are privileged to learn, okay?" Miss Brie advised.

Seven and Rolanda nodded in response.

...

Seven had known the situation of the Triple Order Government since he became an adolescent. In Terraverde, there was a division into three regions:

The North Province, the South Province, and the East Province.

This system of government began after the three generals returned from the Badlands and dominated the human world as the strongest men. They decided to rule Terraverde themselves, dividing the world into three regions.

These three ruled as the Triple Order Government from then until date, as this system of government was still inevitable as it was now seen as a cultural constitution.

However, the succession of this rulership continued as a family legacy. The ruler of a particular region is called a Herald, and with the joint force of the three, they are called The Heralds.

The Greyshield Nation is one of the countries in the North Province, the region known as the weakest of the three. Past military personnels had said that the North Province contributed less in the past wars against the otherworldly enemies due to their weakness, which resulted in their low ranking on the power board. Till now, they were still known as the province with less strong Vessels and Vanquishers, which was a clear fact to testify to their weakness.

They don't dare to anger the other two provinces, as they weren't ready for war... A war that would surely end up ripping their lives and driving them to a dead end.

...

Rolanda was short of words after Miss Brie's explanation, so she decided not to ask any more questions as they progressed to begin the training.

When they got to the fields, a vast area with mostly carpet grasses with huge aging walls surrounding it, Miss Brie urged Rolanda to let her Vessel out from her Vanquishing Space.

Soon, the Six-legged Jaguar appeared and quickly sat on Rolanda's toes.

Rolanda had been asked to study the first volume of the Swift Improvement Theory Book, so it was left for her Jaguar to get the task done. The first stage of learning was "Rigidity," which was surely the first thing required to be made.

The Jaguar's limb bones had to be stronger to ensure its safety and flexibility while using the Swift skill.

Miss Brie gestured to Rolanda to order it to come forward, and when it did, she was also urged to explain the task for the Vessel.

The task was pretty simple unlike Whisky's. The Six-legged Jaguar would only have to run to the end of the field and climb the giant wall to the top. Climbing tall structures surely would help enhance the Jaguar's rigidity as stated in the book, so they all had to believe and watch it happen.

The Jaguar was pretty fast, as expected when it began the run, but getting to climb the already shrinking wall had slowed it down. However, it was luckily able to reach the top after a few falls, making Rolanda a bit satisfied.

Although she knew that climbing a wall was very difficult for Cat-type Vessels, unlike the usual trees in the woods, she believed it could adapt. In this world, Vessels are only trained for one thing alone, and it was to be combatively useful... If the Six-legged Jaguar could only use Swift for now, then it really needed to be best at it.

When the training was done, Miss Brie smiled at Rolanda with amazement... Because, yet again, her student Vessel's performance had impressed her.

"Come, it's time to register your Vessels' identities," Miss Brie told the students and made her way back to the learning hall.

Seven and Rolanda exchanged glances again, nodded, and followed suit.

They guessed the journey was already beginning!
