Chapter 20- Rasengan

__________

I watched closely as Tsunade worked her hands over the fish, her chakra pulsing steadily, knitting torn tissue and broken bones back together. The lifeless fish twitched, and moments later, it wriggled back to life, its tail flapping as if nothing had happened. Seeing medical ninjutsu in action was something else—wounds that would take days, even weeks to heal, could be mended in mere seconds.

"So, how was it? Surprised?" Tsunade asked, a proud smirk playing on her lips. She stood there, shoulders squared, looking every bit like she knew she'd just pulled off a miracle.

"Woah, that's really cool!" I said, still impressed despite my best efforts to play it down. "At least now I won't have to haul myself to the hospital every time I injure myself training," I added, thinking of all the future cuts and bruises this could save me from. Medical ninjutsu was seriously a game-changer. If pushed to its limits, who knows? Maybe it could even offer some sort of cheat-code for immortality.

Tsunade's cheeks flushed a little, but she quickly recovered, crossing her arms. "Of course! Just make sure you come to me whenever you need healing. Hmph! Consider yourself lucky—you're getting personal treatment from the future best healer in the world."

I couldn't help but laugh at her declaration. She didn't know it yet, but she was absolutely right. She would go on to become the best healer in the world. Tsunade's confidence wasn't misplaced in the slightest.

"So, how's your new jutsu coming along? Any breakthroughs yet?" she asked, changing the topic to the rasengan. I was nearly done with the second stage—the rubber ball was already stretching to its limits. It just needed that final push. A few more days, and I'd have it.

"It's coming along well," I said casually, "I'll have it down in a few days."

"You're about to create another jutsu? Interesting," came an amused voice from behind us. I hadn't even noticed anyone approach. My senses flared, but it was too late—the presence had already closed in. Turning around, I saw Grandma Mito standing there, her gaze warm but sharp. Kage-level shinobi were something else entirely.

"You're quite talented," she said with a chuckle. "Even Hashirama wasn't developing techniques at your age."

"Good morning, Grandma Mito," I replied respectfully. Even though I was an isekai'd soul, basic respect wasn't something I'd ignore, unlike most protagonists I didn't have the habit of looking down on everyone, afterall it's the real world for me now, and I am still growing, nowhere near the peak of this world. "It's not really a big deal, just something simple I thought of. It'll be done soon."

"Really? That's impressive. Be sure to show me once it's finished," she said, her tone light but curious.

"Of course, Grandma. I'll let you know as soon as I'm done," I promised, feeling a bit of pride swell in my chest. I had a feeling she would appreciate the rasengan, especially considering her own experience as a jinchuuriki. The technique was right up Naruto's alley, after all.

"Me too! I want to see it!" Tsunade piped in, not wanting to be left out of the excitement.

I smiled and nodded, chatting with the two of them for a little longer before heading back to my training ground.

Several days later, today was the day.

Pop!

The rubber ball finally burst in my hand with a loud, satisfying sound. The second stage was complete. I grabbed another ball and shattered it just as easily. Then another. And another. I was on a roll now, the rasengan's second stage firmly under my control.

Next came the balloon test—the third and final step. This time, the goal was precision, not power. I had to keep the balloon from bursting while spinning chakra inside it. The first few attempts were disastrous—balloons exploded left and right—but within a few hours, I got the hang of it.

And then it was time for the ultimate test.

"RASENGAN!!" I yelled, as the rapidly spinning blue ball of chakra materialized in my hand. The energy swirled wildly, compacted into a perfect sphere of chaos and power.

I'd done it. My own A-rank ninjutsu... well, not really mine.....but since Minato wasn't even born yet, so I wasn't stealing credit, how could I steal credit from someone who doesn't even exist. Therefore, technically, I had just invented the rasengan. In this timeline, anyway.

And now, for the part I had been waiting for—the trade.

'TRADE,' I commanded mentally.

The system responded instantly.

{ Trade initiated.

Object: A-rank ninjutsu, Rasengan.

Options available:

1. Chidori (A-rank Lightning ninjutsu, evolvable)

2. Spiral Drill Break (Chakra Edition, miniature version, from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, evolvable)

3. Monster Power (A-rank ninjutsu) }

I stared at the options for a moment, grinning to myself. Option two was clearly the winner here. Who in their right mind would say no to a Spiral Drill Break?

With my choice made, I selected the second option.

That was it. I had completed another jutsu, and what I had gotten in return was nothing short of spectacular. A new, powerful technique lay at my fingertips, waiting to be mastered. Although it was not the giga drill of the original series, and was only an A-rank ninjutsu right now, it was borderline S rank, and much stronger than the Rasengan.

And it could also be further evolved, just like the rasengan.
