Chapter 25- The Kind Hearted Genius
__________
"Grandma, I've created a new type of talisman, and I want to sell them," I told Grandma Mito about my plans. While I could do this on my own, her support would make things much easier. For someone like Mito, helping me start a business was just a matter of words.
"Oh? What have you come up with this time?" Grandma looked at me with interest, clearly amused. Even though I was considered a genius, the idea of starting a business at my age was almost unheard of, especially for a ninja. Honestly, creating a new jutsu might be more common than this.
"It's a healing talisman," I explained. "I applied the healing jutsu I learned from Tsunade to a principle similar to the detonation tags. You just need to place it on the injured area, and it casts the healing jutsu directly onto the wound."
"What? A healing tag?" Grandma's expression shifted from shock to deep thought. "That's a brilliant idea! If it can be mass-produced, it would be a game-changer in wars."
I quickly clarified, "Well, it can't fully heal someone, but it's effective enough to stop bleeding and stabilize serious injuries so they can reach a hospital. For minor injuries, it works perfectly, but it has its limits." Overhyping it and making people think it was some miraculous cure wouldn't help anyone.
Grandma nodded thoughtfully. "Even with limitations, it's an incredible invention. Saving lives on the battlefield is no small feat. So, do you plan to sell it directly to the village or handle the business yourself?"
That question gave me pause. Selling directly to the village would mean earning rewards and possibly some fame. On the other hand, running the business myself would give me complete control and potentially far greater profits, especially if I sold it to other villages at a premium.
"I want to start my own business," I replied. "It will also make it easier to market future inventions. I have many ideas I plan to develop."
Grandma thought about it for a moment and then agreed. "Alright, I'll help you arrange for a shop. However, you'll need to sell a large quantity of these to Konoha directly. The ongoing war demands it."
"That's fine," I agreed. "I'll sell them at wholesale rates to Konoha. But I'll need your help with advertisement too." Selling to Konoha might reduce my profits initially, but it would establish the product's reputation. After the war, I could earn far more.
Grandma called for a guard to inform Lord Hokage of my business proposal and then accompanied me to a nearby forest to test the tags. Of course, we needed to ensure their effectiveness on animals before testing them on humans.
After some searching, I managed to catch a rabbit. "Now, let's test it. Take this kunai and try the tag," Grandma instructed.
I made a small cut on the rabbit's back. The poor creature squealed and started bleeding profusely. While the cut wasn't too deep, it was enough to be life-threatening if left untreated. I quickly placed the healing talisman on the wound and activated it. A green glow emanated from the tag, and within seconds, the wound was completely healed. Only the blood-stained fur remained as evidence of the injury.
"It works perfectly," I said with a satisfied smile.
"Marvelous!" Grandma exclaimed. "This will be a massive lifesaver. Many in Konoha will owe you their lives."
Her words made me smile, but I replied seriously, "Maybe. But we still need to test it on humans." I grabbed the kunai, ready to test it on myself.
"Stop! What are you doing?" Grandma's sharp tone stopped me mid-action. "We'll go to the hospital. There are plenty of injured shinobi there. No need to harm yourself!"
"Uh... sure," I muttered sheepishly. It was just a small cut, but Grandma's concern warmed my heart. Even as shinobi, I gues the family does care a lot about though, though it can't be said to be entirely true as there are a lot of psychos among shinobi, but hey, we didn't lack those back on earth too, there were often cases of people killing there family members.
At the hospital, the grim reality of war was evident. The ward was filled with injured shinobi, some missing limbs, others bearing wounds so severe they could barely move. Grandma approached one with a minor chest wound and persuaded him to let us use the tag. He agreed instantly—Grandma's presence commanded immense respect.
I applied the healing talisman, and once again, it worked flawlessly. The wound healed completely, though it left a faint scar. I also noticed that the patient might experience a mild fever later. I realized the talisman worked best immediately after injury, as it didn't address infections, leaving wounds unattended for long often leads to it being infected, and healing talisman just heals the wound, with the microbes still being present.
"Excellent!" Grandma beamed. "Let's speak to Tobirama. He'll definitely support this and help you establish your business."
Her excitement exceeded even mine as we left for the Hokage's office. Though that didn't mean that I was not excited for it. Financial independence before even graduating as a shinobi? It was more than I had hoped for, my past live was full of monetary hardships, and I really wanted to be rich, although I was in the lap of luxury ever since I moved in with Tsunade, earning on my own is an entirely different feeling on it's own
And the fact that nothing like this existed in the world meant that healing tags are extremely hard to create, with me being the only one who knows how to create those, which meant monopoly on the item, though I can't deny it's implications, other villages would definitely target me, since just killing me would remove the soyrce of production of healing tags.
Just as my thoughts drifted, a notification appeared before me:
