Chapter 26- Starting my Business
_______
High-level research ability... This was a really good reward. Maybe with this, my title of "genius inventor" won't be limited to just the rewards or trade items from the system. I could create things of my own. Maybe I could even create modern weapons here in the shinobi world. Guns would probably ruin the setting of the world and make it boring too... but nukes, on the other hand... now that was something worth considering. A long-range attack at the level of the Ten Tails' Tailed Beast Bomb might really bring peace to the shinobi world.
Technology was something that could also be focused on as a counter against the Otsutsuki. To be perfectly honest, chakra originated from the Otsutsuki, and taking the chakra path while hoping to surpass them would probably be foolish. We had to create something that could at least counter them.
The Boruto manga wasn't completed by the time I had died. Well... I didn't even watch it fully, though I got through around 200 episodes. The fillers bored me. But considering the first episode of Boruto vs. Kawaki and the frequent Otsutsuki attacks, it can be concluded that if we don't do something, we're screwed.
I'm going to try my best to save the world, and if I can't do anything... well, I'd already be in my seventies by then. If I don't manage to become immortal, I'll die fighting for the world. If I do, I'll fake my death and figure out how to leave the world.
Yes, it might be petty, but hey, I'll do my part as best as I can, there's no need to die uselessly if I can survive. I'm determined to become the Fourth Hokage, but I plan to retire by or after the Fourth Shinobi War. Although I dream of being at the top, I don't wish to work hard my entire life. Hmm, maybe I should consider trying to reach immortality. With my newfound research ability and my knowledge of this world, there are already two feasible methods worth considering.
First is Orochimaru's cloning technology, which has great potential and is a good way to achieve alternate immortality. The other is to combine the genes of the Senju, Uzumaki, Uchiha, Hyuga, Moon Otsutsuki, and Kaguya clans to try retracing Otsutsuki genes. This is significantly more difficult, but if successful, the result would be much better. These could also be cloned for a second round of assurance, though I might also have to convince Tsunade, since immortality, although great, would be a curse if there is no one to spend it with me.
Though all this is for later. For now, my business is my focus. The healing tags were approved and greatly applauded by the Hokage. I also received an order to deliver 5,000 healing tags to Konoha every month. This might not seem like a lot, but in my current capacity, I can only produce around 10 to 12 thousand healing tags per month. I priced each healing tag at 1,000 ryo, but I had to sell them to Konoha at three-fourths the price, meaning 750 ryo apiece. For this, I was exempted from taxes and directly given a large shop in the central district of Konoha. The shop was for me to use as I wished, and the healing tags would also be promoted with the Hokage's name as a guarantee. This was enforced by Grandma Mito.
Considering the value of the invention, I was to be accompanied by guards whenever I left the village, and someone would guard me outside my house. They would still give me as much privacy as possible. I also demanded a laboratory for myself. This might seem strange for someone my age, but if the current Hokage were Sarutobi Hiruzen, I would probably be spied upon everywhere and suspected of something. Knowing Tobirama Senju, though, he would probably understand. He might even have a lower moral bottom line. As long as I don't harm the villagers of Konoha, even human experimentation might be acceptable. After all, it's imaginable how many human sacrifices it might have taken to create something like Impure World Reincarnation. For now, he might just ensure that I don't start human experiments just yet and would probably be happy to see someone interested in research.
I was right. After some light questioning and a few instructions, Lord Second just encouraged me in my research and said he was expecting great things from me. I was granted a laboratory on the edge of Konoha, which is good for now. I could study more sealing jutsu and ninjutsu and maybe even start dabbling in technology. Human experimentation, however, would have to wait until I'm at least 18, for morality reasons.
I wasn't going to handle my shop myself since I simply didn't have the time. So, I hired a middle-aged uncle named Takeda Senju. He had no ninja talent but was a smart man. Unfortunately, his lack of capital meant he was running a small shop. Since he was good at managing businesses, I hired him to manage mine. I had to pay him a bit more since he had to close his shop, but it was worth it. Now, I wouldn't have to worry about my business.
Today was the day my shop finally started. It had been 15 days since I was allotted the shop, and everything was finally ready. I named the shop Watanabe Talismans, as this branch would be dedicated mainly to selling different talismans. I might add ninja tools later, but that's for the future.
I had already delivered the first batch of healing tags to Konoha and received 3.75 million ryo for it. News about the healing talismans had already spread throughout Konoha since they had been distributed and used on the battlefield. The Senju clan and the Hokage himself helped spread the word.
The shop started with great success. We sold over a thousand talismans on the first day. Now, we had to limit the number of talismans sold per day. Since production was much lower than demand, it meant I could also raise prices accordingly. The contract with the Hokage only mentioned a 25% discount, not a fixed price. Therefore, increased prices would also apply to Konoha. However, that will have to wait a bit longer. Let the healing talismans build more of a reputation first. After all, unless someone else can create them, it's a product I can sell at whatever price I want.
With this, I had completely achieved financial stability and could now be considered a rich man. Only ten days remain until the graduation exams. Ugh, I guess this year's graduation party is going to be on me. I had postponed the party to focus on starting my business, excusing it by saying the exams were near, and we didn't have time to party.
