I couldn't help but keep a smile on my face as I did my chores. I felt oddly energized even though I slept late. And yes, we were at it to four in the morning.
"Good morning," I greeted the maids.
Raya, the shorter of the two maids eyed me like I had gone mad. "I see you are in a happy mood. Did you steal something again, witch?"
"You are being too direct, Raya." Maureen, the second maid shook her head. "But really, why is the witch smiling?"
I ignored them and continued with my chores. I felt their eyes on me, but I wasn't concerned.
Damien was in my head; he was the first good memory I had in a long time. In a way, it felt like finally being with him— my mate— would solve every other problem I had. I was soaring.
