"Miss Haust." I vaguely heard from some where far far…hopefully far away.
"Miss Haust…please." The voice pleaded. If I was sympathic to the plea I would have answered.
But to full disclosure I wasn't.
'Bang!'
I flinched in my curled up position, still keeping my eyes shut as I continue to pretend to sleep. Like hell I was going to wake up but something silvered up my spine. Making all my nerve endings rise.
'Gulp', swallowing all the fear induce saliva down my throat. I locked in all my joints and tighten my grip on the blanket.
Stomp…
Stomp.
Stomp.
Fuck. Feeling the heavy breathing above me, but too scared to peek under my shut eyelids.
I once watched a animal documentary that stated if you were being attacked by a bear to cover your head and neck, lay flat on your stomach with your legs spread, stay still and do not make any noises.
The last advice was to wait. Wait and pray that the dangerous animal had left your surroundings. Once you knew that the animal had left, the last sound advice was to hightail it out of the area. To leave and never come back.
'Yank'
The sheets were pulled from under my hand.
'Squeak' Crap.
Dread and panic starting to fill my stomach as I tried as best to remain still and not move. I should give up the jig of playing dead, it wasn't like I was actually playing it. From the way I was panicing I knew I was shaking in fear.
In fear from the most dangerous animal in this household. The only person that knew me to this extend. Knew me like ins and out of an empty tin cookie box after benging a whole Netflix series over night.
"You Melody, this all an act. A russ to make you believe."
"Yes but Miss just woke up from being sick, I..I donn't."
"Don't let that stop you! It is your job as the young Miss to have her presentable and ready to go!"
Stomp.
Stomp.
I heard her move away but heard a clackered of glass move. Shit.
"Miss Wendy." Melody gasp, I heard it then. But I didn't want to give in to her conceriontion damn it. But Wendy, the beast she had become, had also become brave.
I admired her for it, but it sure as hell had become a pain in my back side as I quickly and jerkly did the resucration act.
Everyone in the room paused, three pair of eyes looked at me, each second becoming more suspiciousion ridden like their eyes.
Fine, so I wasn't asleep, but I deserved to lay in my own bed for as long as I wanted damn.
"You see Melody, all she needed was a bit of motivation to get up. Right Miss Priscilla." Wendy's eyes gleamed, as I took in the ceramic bowl inbetween her hand.
Thank lord I alived myself on time. Knowing that the bowl like bucket was filled with the coldest purest artic water in this world.
Internally I shivered but kept my face blank to not insigate further then she was. One of her brows raised.
"Well, well, well." Wendy, thankfully put down the bowl and put her hands on her hip a scowl on her face.
"Fine." Hmph, I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms in front of me. Damn it, I thought I had few more hours before I had to be formally up.
Its been several days since the doctor had cleared me to resume regular activity. A week since the incident happened. While I woke up disorientated and fogged, feeling my whole body filled with this painful pulsing. Like as if you just ran a marathon and your body was still aching from it. But inside of the muscle. It was all your internal organs.
Which was worst.
"Listen Miss Priscilla, you can't stay in bed forever." Wendy was now moving about. Coming towards me now and helping me sit up. I flinched from the soreness that creaked as I moved my joints.
I was too young to feel this, realzing that maybe Wendy was right.
'Grrr.'
I didn't want to tell her that because she would get all high a mighty. Seeing the gleam of worry and hope, I knew that Wendy was only looking out for me. Not understanding why she did so much, but thankful that she was on my side.
Melody and the other lady maid, whose name was Ruth, moved about the room now setting up some breakfast on a table by the opened window, looked back to me and Wendy. Amazed at what she must had accomplished what they couldn't for the passs couple of hours.
Sigh
I did want to get up but I just didn't feel like doing it now.
'But when?'
…
That was a good question. Seating down on the chair and watching someone lean over and make me a plate of assorted items. Instead of reaching for the fork, brough teh cup of fresh tea to my lips. The minty fregrant scent filling my nostril.
'Ahh.' I sipped at the delicous flavor.
"I see you like the tea Miss, I'll make sure to make note of it for tomorrow morning."
'Oh.' I looked up from my cup and smiled at Melody. "Yes, it taste delicious. Thank you for brewing it." Watching her drop her eyes but not before I got a glimps at her blush. It was adorable!
But, again why didn't I want to get up again? Oh yeah!
It was because I wanted to rest as much as possible before I took on what the hell was happening in this novel.
Sure I could, bum rush like I had a week ago, unsequently die. The head strong person I was, I also needed to be cautious of my own limitations. I was indestructable as much as I thought I believed I was. No, in reality I was in a even more dangerous world, where anything can go.
Even if I found the problem or the reason for all that was happening to Priscilla, it didn't mean I was going to suceed unless I learned to hit back.
The novel spoke of romance, sometimes referring to the Princes power. Overall he had his own share of defeating moments if I rememebr correctly.
Wait…
A light bulb started to flicker above my head.
The prince was strong, and unless I became as strong as him, I didn't think I could beat him. Also when I was going to beat him was another puzzle piece I didn't have an answer for.
"Miss please eat."
'Oh' A plate of food was placed in front of me. Melody said softly, uhhhh, how I so wanted to reach over and squeeze her.
She was so cute!
Half way to rising and doing that, to hands on my shoulder pushed my ass back down on the chair.
"Don't even think about Miss Priscilla, Melody had to finish her chores. While you finishing eating." Wendy said sternly.
Crap, she had caught me again. One thing I couldn't resist were adorable things. Just like Melody, who had teh cutest bubbly cheeks and big dow like eyes. Ugh!
"Oh come one Wendy," Rolling my eyes and tossing my hands in the air. From a distance I could hear Melody giggle.
"No Miss Priscilla, in the pass week you have corrupt the poor lady Melody into sneaking you all sorts of unlady like things."
'Oh' was she referring to the 'books' or the gamble pages that I had Melody sneaking in to my room. The girl was a whiz at the books!
I played dumb. Reaching over to start eating some 'real' food.
Damn it, it was delicious.
I ate it all. Looking up to the please expression on Wendys faces. Unknown why it suddeningly made me blush. What the heck, I snatched the table cothe napkin and wipe my face.
Looking away from Wendy and out the crisp sunny view.
'Hmph' Maybe it was because it was the first time Wendys has ever shown a happy expression at seeing me eat like a pig. Most of the time she nagged me regarding how I would shovel food into my mouth.
Some days she would say that with that skill would win me favor with in the elite circle I should use, but since I used it to groge myself with food, I would dishonor my whole family.
'Shesh' she didn't have to put it that way.
Oh right, I needed an answer to something that had been stewing in my head since I had woken up.
"Hey Wendy," She stop what she was doing and move towards me.
"Yes, Miss Priscilla?" Everyone in the room froze, curious.
"Besides the Prince Leanders whose the strongest, swordsman in the Empire." I asked, turning to the three pair of eyes looking at me. Each one a bit weary to answer that question. I mean no one wanted to say that the Prince of the Empire might not be the strongest.
The guy was the prefect speciman.
But I knew better. No one was prefect.
