In the morning, Amon knocked on Ariel's door.
When Ariel opened the door and saw who was behind it, she immediately slammed the door as if she had seen a ghost.
"What are you doing?"
"I should be asking that. What are you doing outside my room?"
"I want to talk to you."
"Leave! What could you possibly want to talk about at this hour? This is probably just an excuse to try to rape me!"
"It's no longer nighttime, it's already morning; and have I ever done that?"
"You did it plenty of times in the past!"
If he recalled correctly, the original Amon did indeed do that. In the novel, he even used an aphrodisiac as a last resort to weaken Ariel and rape her.
Fortunately, Liam happened to pass by and stopped his despicable actions.
But now, that would never happen again. The current Amon was completely different from the Amon in the novel.
"I swear I won't do anything like that. I just want to talk to you about Xie Mei."
"You want to show off your new fiancée to your old one, huh?"
"No, I just want to ask for advice from you as a woman, so I can break off the engagement with her without hurting her feelings and without tarnishing my reputation further."
"You're seriously saying that?" Ariel asked, slightly surprised.
She thought Amon was a pervert who would be delighted to have a new woman. She never imagined that now Amon would actually want to end his engagement.
Ariel opened the door a little, peeking at Amon through the gap.
"I'm serious."
"Why?"
"I don't like weak women."
"I heard she's a martial arts genius."
"That must be just propaganda from the Xie Dynasty."
"Come in."
Ariel finally allowed Amon to enter. When Amon saw her, he was surprised to see Ariel already surrounded by nine magical barriers, like spheres.
"Aren't you being overly cautious?"
"It's necessary when dealing with a Starheir."
"I'm still level 0, still weak."
"Enough of that, it doesn't matter. Sit down and let's get to the main topic."
Amon sat on a chair, watching Ariel in her pajamas making coffee. He accidentally noticed a book lying open on a nearby table; it was the Fire Storm Spell Book.
"Have you been up all night reading this?"
"Yes, I couldn't wait to dive into the spell book."
From Amon's perspective, even though this book was a legacy from the Flame Sage, it was just one book. For him, who knew how many incredible legacies—Sages, Saints, Gods—there were in this world, that one book didn't seem all that significant.
But to his surprise, Ariel loved it.
"You really are into magic, huh?"
"Magic can do a lot. Protect yourself, create miracles, defend a nation; I could even wipe out an entire army with magic by myself."
"How about we claim a Sage's legacy together, but you have to stop trying to break our engagement?"
"That's impossible. Many people want our engagement broken, including my king."
"Can't you tell your father that people were born with ears and mouths to communicate? There's no need for underhanded schemes in this matter, we can talk things out."
Even if someone was deaf or mute, there was still sign language they could use.
"I've tried that, and it made no difference. He becomes incredibly stubborn when it comes to culture or tradition."
Ariel handed Amon a cup of tea before sitting down in the chair across from him.
Amon sipped the tea. It had a pleasant aroma, easy to inhale, but he had no idea what good tea was supposed to taste like.
"It's nice."
In any case, he just gave the compliment to make his fiancée happy.
"Thank you."
Ariel smiled slightly at the compliment, which made Amon feel good too.
"Let's talk about the main topic. No matter what you do, you'll end up hurting Xie Mei's feelings."
"Why?"
"Women are very quick to feel insecure. She'll probably think: Why is he breaking off our engagement? Am I ugly? Did I do something wrong? Does he think I'm tainted? And so on."
"Then what should I do?"
"It's better not to break off the engagement."
"Why?"
"This is your fault from the start. So, you have to bear the consequences."
"It's that bastard Roderic's fault. If he hadn't cornered me in public, I would've refused the engagement. He's the one who started all this."
"I know that too."
"Besides, do you really want your husband to have more than one wife?"
Polygamy or polyandry was common in this world. But still, some women or men preferred monogamy.
"As if I'm going to marry you. Don't talk like you know the future."
"I do know the future." He wasn't lying. "And I will marry you."
"Nonsense." Of course, Ariel didn't believe him.
"We'll see about that in the future. For now, give me a solution."
"If you still want to break off the engagement, then just give Xie Mei what she wants."
"Is that so. Then why don't you give me what I want? You want to break off our engagement too, don't you?"
Ariel was startled, feeling like she had fallen into her own trap.
"The reason the Xie Dynasty is affiliated with the Lucerion Clan is because of the plague afflicting their country, the Xuanyin Empire. They're hoping the Lucerion Clan can purge the plague."
Ariel decided to ignore his previous question as if nothing had happened.
"Hey, don't ignore my question."
"So at least you should save the Xuanyin Empire before breaking off the engagement with Xie Mei."
"Don't joke around. The plague there is caused by the Death God's forces. This isn't a trivial matter."
The main cause of this plague was the Lich Queen. She was extremely powerful, even Liam had to use the Miracle Cube and the Holy Spear to defeat her.
"Who said it was caused by the Death God? Wasn't it caused by the Arcanor Clan, your rivals?"
"Of course, I'm the one who said it."
"Don't talk nonsense. Anyway, that's my only suggestion. Though I know it's impossible for you to solve." Ariel grinned as she sipped her tea.
But Amon frowned, feeling underestimated.
"Don't underestimate your fiancé, nothing is impossible for me. If you're so confident, how about we make another bet?"
"Interesting, what do you want? Do you still want me not to break our engagement?"
"No, that's not fair. If I manage to cleanse the plague, then you must become mine."
This way, even if their engagement were broken, it wouldn't matter. Amon could still have Ariel as his wife through this bet.
"Alright, but this time, I don't just want the location of the Sage's legacy, I want the legacy itself."
"Deal!" Amon enthusiastically agreed.
"You have five years."
"That's more than enough."
Both of them chuckled, each with cunning thoughts in their minds.
'There's no way he can accomplish this in five years. If what he says is true and the plague is caused by the Death God, then he'll need to reach at least level eight or nine. It's impossible for him to reach that level in five years,' Ariel thought, while Amon mused:
'I have to reach level nine before even beginning to deal with the plague. But that's just a matter of time; within one year, I'll definitely be level nine. After that, Ariel will be mine. This is an easy bet, she's a useful woman both on the battlefield and in bed. This is simple for me.'
A knock suddenly came from outside Ariel's room.
"Young master, the carriage from the main palace is here to pick you up."
"Alright, tell them to wait for me for a moment."
Today was the day for him to enter the treasure room.
Amon stood up from the chair and walked to the door. As his hand touched the door, he paused for a moment before speaking to Ariel once again in a serious tone.
"Ariel, do you really think our engagement can't be fixed anymore?"
Ariel was his dream woman. He had always hoped for her to be his wife, even back when he was just a reader of Miracle Cube.
Unfortunately, he had transmigrated as Amon, the person Ariel hated the most. Given the current situation, he knew that it would be very difficult to win Ariel's heart.
Ariel hadn't expected Amon to say that. She wanted to immediately answer "no," but she held back, as Amon's voice sounded serious.
While thinking, her gaze turned toward the sky, allowing Amon to only see her blonde hair.
On the other hand, Amon remained silent, waiting for her response.
If Ariel answered yes, he would continue to try and win her love.
But, if her answer was no, then he would only aim to possess her body and use her as a tool to achieve his own goals.
"In truth, I think our relationship can still be mended. But..."
"But?" Amon impatiently waited for her next words.
"I'm a princess; I can't be selfish. Many people in the kingdom want our engagement to end."
For some reason, just from her voice, Amon felt like Ariel was a bird trapped in a golden cage.
"I see, I understand. I now know what I need to do next."
Afterward, Amon returned to his room before taking a bath, getting dressed, and heading to the main palace. Upon arrival, he saw many servants cleaning the grand palace after last night's party. He continued walking past the servants who bowed to him, eventually arriving at a garden behind the palace.
The garden was vast and beautiful, with many fantasy flowers emitting light and a fragrant aroma that Amon could smell.
At the center of the garden, Amon saw eleven people waiting for him.
Two of them were elders, casually sitting while playing chess. One Elder was a woman with a large body, seemingly obese; while the other was a thin, dark-skinned man with a mohawk hairstyle.
The rest were members of the top ten rankings, standing beside them.
Among the nine people stood Roderic. Due to his defeat the previous night, he deeply resented Amon. Let alone greet him, he didn't even want to look at him.
"You're late. What were you doing?"
Berig, another member of the top ten, chimed in.
"None of your business."
After the brief exchange with Berig, Amon respectfully greeted the Elders.
"My apologies for being late, Honored Elders."
"It's fine. Let's begin. Amon, you're ranked first, so you'll go first."
"There's no time limit, so take your time to decide what you'll take."
"As Arthur said, you're entitled to take four items from inside."
Upon hearing the Elder's words, the other nine people were surprised. Why was Amon the only one allowed to take four treasures? But none of them dared to speak up against the Elder.
An Elder then stood up. Raising his sword into the air, he swung it down, splitting the space before them and creating a portal that looked like a dark abyss.
"Enter."
"Thank you, Your Eminence."
Amon eagerly stepped into the treasure room.
In reality, the treasure room was just a general term used by people. In truth, it wasn't a toom but a world that housed the treasures of the Lucerion Clan.
Of course, this world wasn't as large as the one where humans lived, but it was big enough to store the immense wealth of the Lucerion Clan.
This world was created by the clan's founder.
The first thing Amon saw upon entering wasn't a mountain, but mountain ranges—not just metaphorical ones, but real mountain ranges the size of those in the human world. However, the mountains here weren't made of earth but overflowing with treasures.
Amon stood frozen for a moment, his mouth wide open in shock.
"Is a place like this really real? I knew about it from the novel, but I thought it was just a metaphor. I never imagined there would actually be treasure mountains here."
But moments later, Amon scratched his head.
"How am I supposed to find the Demon God Sword in this place?"
Taking treasures from here wasn't as easy as it sounded. This was a test of patience.
Every treasure here was undoubtedly valuable, but not all of them would be useful to the person who claimed them.
To find a truly valuable treasure, one needed patience in choosing.
"Anyway, I have to get the sharpest sword."
Toward the end of Miracle Cube, the Lucerion Clan was defeated by the Death God through a cunning scheme. A few years later, Liam, through some mysterious means, managed to enter this treasure world.
Naturally, he obtained the Demon God Sword, but he couldn't wield it. This was because he had already been exposed to radiation from the Holy Spear.
The two weapons were polar opposites. Those who had used the Holy Spear for a long time would be unable to wield the Demon God Sword, and vice versa.
Afterward, Liam gave the Demon God Sword to Athena Arcanor, a woman even more brilliant than Ariel.
Since the Demon God Sword was the sharpest sword capable of cutting through anything, including non-physical things like bonds, Athena managed to sever the Death God's connection to all his undead.
This made the final battle much easier.
Unfortunately, Athena perished at that moment—not because of the Death God, but because of the Demon God Sword.
