Amon didn't know how long he had been here; his stomach was already growling, and now he lay atop a pile of treasure like a broken doll.
"Aaaaaaarggghhhh!!!"
He screamed in frustration.
It was too difficult to find the treasure he wanted.
At first, he thought this was a happy moment, a moment where he could obtain the legacy of a god. But he realized that it wasn't as easy as he imagined.
"I should've had breakfast earlier."
The Elders said he didn't have a time limit, but in reality, his own stomach was the real time limit.
Amon forced himself to walk again; he had to find what he wanted before he died of hunger.
With unsteady steps, he continued walking while his eyes scanned the treasures around him.
But he suddenly stumbled and fell. Looking back, he found the cause—it was a compass.
"A small compass tripped me?"
He picked up the gold-colored compass before realizing that it was incredibly heavy, as if he was lifting a sack of rice.
"What's with this compass?"
He examined the strange compass. It had only one needle, but it didn't point toward the cardinal directions.
Bored of wandering aimlessly, Amon decided to follow the direction indicated by the compass.
"Maybe the needle points to the location of something I want."
It was just a silly thought. In fact, he didn't expect it to actually happen.
But ten minutes later, there was a katana with an evil aura in front of him.
The katana itself, along with its sheath, was covered in nothing but deep black, enveloped in a dark purple aura that seemed malevolent. Just by looking at it, Amon couldn't help but feel a shiver, as if he were staring at a weapon that had claimed countless lives.
"…Demon God Sword…"
Unable to contain the excitement welling up inside him, Amon ran straight toward the katana. But as his hand was just an inch away from the sword's hilt, he stopped, remembering a rule.
'Don't grab the hilt of the Demon God Sword unless it's to kill, or the sword itself will kill you.'
Amon then took the katana by only holding the sheath.
"Hahaha!"
Amon laughed heartily, as though his earlier frustration had vanished, replaced by boundless joy.
"With this sword, there's almost nothing I can't kill!"
He glanced at the compass again. It was thanks to the compass that he had found the Demon God Sword, but he still wasn't sure it had the ability to point to the location of something he desired.
To prove whether it was true or not, he followed the direction shown by the compass again, hoping to find the Almighty Titan Formula Tome.
There were many kinds of cultivation arts.
For martial artists, they used two types of cultivation arts: Techniques and Martial Formulas.
Martial Formulas were used to strengthen the attribute that is their own body.
Meanwhile, Techniques were used to channel or operate the body's power.
'Their relationship is like hardware and software.'
The Almighty Titan Formula that Amon sought was a Martial Formula.
In the novel, the Almighty Titan Formula was only mentioned briefly, and no one used it, so no one knew the power it granted.
However, Amon still remembered a short sentence: 'Liam will gain unbelievable power by using the Almighty Titan Formula.'
That one sentence was enough to make Amon want to obtain this Martial Formula.
He found a white book after walking for about ten minutes. The book was titled Almighty Titan Formula Tome.
"This compass really shows the location of something I want."
Amon decided to include the compass as one of the four treasures he could take.
Holding the large white tome in his hands, he opened it and began to read.
"I can't finish this book in a short time. If I force myself, I might die first."
He took the tome as well.
Three treasures had been chosen, leaving one more. He already knew what he would pick.
"Where's the Mansion Summon Ring?"
The Mansion Summon Ring was a black ring that contained a mansion inside it. The user could summon the mansion out and reside in it, as well as store items inside the mansion, whether the mansion was summoned or still in the ring.
Amon planned to use this ring when he claimed his Dark Sage inheritance.
Five minutes later, Amon found the ring.
He then stored the Demon God Sword, the Almighty Titan Formula Tome, and the compass into the Mansion Summon Ring to carry them more easily.
"I've taken four treasures. …Of course, I won't just leave like this."
There were many extraordinary technique books here. Even though he couldn't take them all, he could still study them here.
Unlike the bulky, thick formula tomes, technique books were relatively small and could be read by Amon in a short time.
"I've already studied offensive, defensive, and movement techniques. There's no need to add more, it would only waste my potential. So…"
First, he chose a healing technique: Sacred Meditation Technique.
The reason was clear, because he cherished his life. A healing technique would always be useful for Amon, who lived in such a dangerous world.
He wasn't like his former self back on Earth. Back then, he found life boring. He lived through repetitive days, which was why he never cared for himself.
In fact, when the doctor diagnosed him with cancer, at night as usual he just read novels as if nothing had happened.
But now, things were different. He had a wealthy family, a beautiful fiancée, and even a broken cheat. This was the life he had always dreamed of. There was no way he wouldn't take care of himself.
The second technique Amon chose was a cloning technique: Blood Forge Technique.
Again, it was to ensure his survival.
The third technique was a development technique: Martial Swallowing Technique. It allowed one to acquire techniques from other martial artists by devouring them.
The fourth technique was one that enhanced his basic attacks: Basic Sword God Technique.
"What else am I missing?"
Amon's weapon of choice was the sword, simply because he loved swords. Even if he had a spear made by a god, he wouldn't want to use it, and would rather throw it at a passerby.
However, he realized that swords were close-range weapons.
"What I'm missing is a long-range attack technique."
The second type of weapon Amon liked was daggers.
Daggers had incredible flexibility. He planned to use them as throwing weapons to cover his weakness.
For that reason, the fourth technique he chose was the Star Shatter Technique.
"Attack techniques for both long and close range, check; defense technique, check; movement technique, check; healing technique, check; cloning technique, check; development technique, check. I feel like something's missing, but what is it…"
As Amon tried to think harder, dizziness clouded his mind. He had been here for too long, and his hunger prevented him from thinking clearly.
"Forget it, there's more extraordinary techniques out there. I can search for them later. It's time for me to leave."
With reluctance, Amon exited this world.
