Chapter 18 - Elder

Once he returned to the garden, Amon collapsed to the ground.

"What's wrong with you? It's only been an hour since you went in. What happened in there?"

'One hour? I felt like I was in there for a whole day. It seems true that the flow of time there and here is different.'

"That's none of your business."

Revealing what had happened inside to Berig would only benefit him. It was better to stay quiet. Amon wanted Berig to suffer the same as he had.

"Huh, look at that attitude. After making us wait for an hour, that's your response? You don't deserve to be the Starheir."

Roderic didn't miss the chance to insult Amon. But since Amon was too exhausted to speak, he simply raised his middle finger at Roderic, which only infuriated him further.

"It looks like you've gotten what you wanted. Now it's time to hand over what you're required to."

What the mohawk Elder was referring to was the Flash Dance Technique.

"Excuse me, Your Eminence. Could I do it tomorrow? I'm really exhausted today."

"That won't be necessary."

The Elder touched Amon's back, sending spiritual energy into his body, which refreshed him instantly. Even his hunger had vanished.

"Are you feeling better?"

"Yes, thank you."

"If you're feeling better, sit down here and write it in this book."

Amon did as instructed.

"Roderic, you're next. Go on in."

Roderic desperately wanted to know what Amon had been up to and why the Elders were so interested in him. The treatment Amon was receiving from the Elders couldn't help but make Roderic jealous. However, he didn't have the courage to speak to them, so he obediently entered.

"By the way, what did you take from inside?" asked the fat Elder.

"Everything's in here."

Amon handed over his new ring.

"Mansion Summon Ring, not bad. It's great for adventuring but still wanting to live in comfort."

She then pulled out the three treasures Amon had chosen before commenting.

"This katana… do you know you'll die if you grab the grip?"

"Yes, I'm aware of that."

"The Hope Compass, you're very lucky to have found this. It'll definitely make it easier for you to find useful treasures."

"I was quite lucky this time."

"The Almighty Titan Formula Tome? Are you serious about using this? I know it's powerful since it was created by a god, but it's not meant for mortals like us."

"I've already memorized the Saint Lucerion Formula while I was inside. As for the Almighty Titan Formula, it's just for study purposes."

That was a lie Amon used as an excuse. If he had admitted he could use the Almighty Titan Formula, the Elders here would have immediately realized he possessed the treasure. If that happened, the clan would force him to hand it over.

"Is that so? I thought you had the Miracle Cube," the Elder said with a disappointed sigh.

Amon remained silent, continuing to write. He feared that the Elder might catch his lie from a single sentence. Silence was the best strategy for now.

"I see. Not only based on the leg but also the brain. This way, the user will have a light-fast mind that can control a body that moves at the speed of light as well."

The mohawk Elder made this comment after observing part of the Flash Dance Technique that Amon had written.

Amon hadn't expected this essence to be revealed, even though he hadn't written it fully yet. The title of Elder was no joke.

"You also made the speed of this technique adjustable, so the impact on the leg can be controlled. That's clever thinking."

"Your Eminence, you're truly remarkable."

"But you made this technique specifically for yourself, didn't you?"

"!" Amon was taken aback.

"That means no one but you will be able to cultivate this technique to perfection. We'll have to modify it a bit so that everyone can use it."

Amon had underestimated the Elders.

He had planned to give the Flash Dance Technique to the clan, believing no one but himself could cultivate it to perfection. He hadn't expected things to turn out like this.

'This is the first time, it's okay. Everyone makes mistakes. I'm still inexperienced in this world. Next time, I'll have to be more careful.'

While Amon was still writing, Roderic suddenly came out. It hadn't even been ten minutes since he went in. Amon was truly amazed at his stupidity.

"You're that fast?"

"Of course, Your Eminence. I'm not someone shameless enough to waste time."

"Are you referring to me?" Amon spoke. "I've told you before, look in the mirror until you realize how dumb you are, and don't act smart in front of me."

"Dogs always bark."

"There's no time limit for us. There are countless incredible techniques in there. Instead of just walking out, wouldn't it be smarter to study first?"

Berig and the others nodded in agreement. They had also planned that, with some even bringing books to take notes on the techniques in the treasure room.

However, Amon's sharp words left Roderic speechless. He hadn't thought about that at all.

"You're talented but just lack patience."

"You were told not to use a martial formula before you're of age, yet you still forced it. And now you've even missed a great opportunity."

With the Elders now speaking, Roderic could only remain silent, lowering his head. He left, gritting his teeth and thinking, 'I will definitely get my revenge on you, Amon.'

Amon himself also wanted to kill Roderic.

His relationship with Ariel had been bad from the start. But it worsened because of Roderic's actions. It had forced him to act like a simp in front of Ariel.

Even worse, he was now also forced to be engaged to a woman he didn't want.

Trial By Sword could solve this.

However, those who initiate it are looked down upon within the clan.

For someone like Amon, who cared deeply about his reputation, he didn't want to take that route.

But there was an easier way.

'I just need to sneak into his palace and kill him in his sleep.'

Five minutes passed. Amon had nearly finished his task. He suddenly remembered something.

"Your Eminence, If I may ask, how does one become an Elder?"

"You want to become an Elder? I thought a talented kid like you would be more interested in becoming the Patriarch," the fat Elder responded.

"Being Patriarch doesn't suit my style."

"First, of course, you need to be strong, at the pinnacle level.

Second, you need to be wise, which is measured by age and life experience.

Third, it's about achievements and contributions. The clan is currently investing in magic; if you acquire a sage's inheritance, you might quickly become an Elder.

Fourth, you mustn't align with any faction. I've heard you have a deal with Emillia. If you want to become an Elder, you should break that agreement.

Lastly, you need to gain the recognition of all the Elders in the clan."

"I understand."

The fourth point was the problem.

Amon didn't expect his earlier victory to become a double-edged sword for him.

At that time, he thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a sugar mommy, living lazily with a lot of money without having to work.

Even now, he still thought that way.

It's just that he didn't like having limitations.

'After this, I'll have to meet with Emillia.'
