Chapter 3 - hidden clues

Chapter 2: Hidden Clues

Commissioner Rossi was in his office, surrounded by files and photographs from the crime scene. The discovery of the body had raised more questions than answers, and time was of the essence.

Dr. Clara Bianchi, a forensic expert, entered with a preliminary report. "Commissioner, we have analyzed the weapon. It's a medieval crossbow, authentic and well-preserved. A collector's item."

Rossi looked up, intrigued. "Anything useful on the fingerprints or DNA?"

"Unfortunately, nothing relevant. The killer was meticulous, leaving no traces."

The commissioner sighed. "So, we have an ancient weapon and no concrete clues. We need to dig deeper."

Meanwhile, Inspector Marco Conti, a young and promising member of the team, had started investigating the historical connections of the city. "I discovered that there have been recent archaeological excavations in the area. There could be a connection."

Rossi nodded. "Good work, Marco. Follow that lead. It might be the key to understanding the motive."

While the team devoted themselves to the research, Anna, the girl who had found the body, was summoned for a more in-depth interview. Sitting in front of the commissioner, she tried to remember every detail.

"Anna, have you noticed anything strange in the previous days? Anyone suspicious around?" Rossi asked.

"I'm not sure. There was just that atmosphere... as if someone was watching," Anna replied, deep in thought.

Rossi thanked her and dismissed her. There was something in those words that troubled him. An invisible observer, a past that intertwined with the present.

With his mind full of thoughts, the commissioner decided to visit the archaeological excavation site. Perhaps there he would find the missing clue, the hidden connection between the weapon and the killer.

The mystery was thickening, and Rossi was determined to unveil it, one step at a time.
