Mavis left the audition room and found Sammy waiting outside the door for her.
Sammy asked her , " What happened in there?"
Mavis paused trying to figure out what happened and answered her, "....I don't really know, but they said they'll contact me?"
Sammy looked at Mavis and thought to herself "(I bet she messed up. Why else would they walk out like that)"
Mavis looked back at Sammy and saw right through her judgmental look and said to her, "Don't think too much about it. I know I did good. Plus after what they said. The role is totally going to be mine." She said while smiling confidently at her.
Sammy said to Mavis, " Okay, if you say so. Since you don't have anything planned today, I'll be taking my leave."
She turned around and was about to leave and continued talking, " Tomorrow you have a Photo shoot. Please make sure you're ready for it. Make sure to come to the company . I'll pick you up there around 9:30. " She then left after saying that.
Mavis thanked her for her hard work. She left and the moment she started her car her phone rang.
Mavis was happy to see the caller and picked up the phone, " Dorothy! Did you miss me?"
Dorothy Jacob. She is Mavis best friend. They met at a juniors welcoming party and they happened to be classmates in some of the modules at college. Their friendship didn't take long to grow because they met a lot during their college days.
Dorothy laughted and said through the phone, "Oh yes, I missed you like crazy babe. You know you don't give me the attention I'm looking for. It's been days since we met. Wait, don't tell me you don't miss this beautiful face of mine."
Mavis was happy to hear how energetic Dorothy was and answered her, " How can I not miss you? It's just that....."
Dorothy cut Mavis's words, " it's because of him isn't it? I'm so heart broken. You don't care about me anymore." She said while pouting.
"Come on Sweetie, you know no one can replace you. You are my one and only. My heart only beats for you. " She said to Dorothy while laughing.
Mavis continued, "Tell you what, I'm not busy for the rest of the day. How about we meet. That is if you don't have plans. I can come pick you up. My treat. "
"Really??! Wait, you're lying. I know I'm second. Your heart only beats for that jerk. But hey, come a pick me up. I'm at my place. I'll get ready." She hung up the phone and started getting ready.
Mavis laughed and drove to Dorothy's apartment 20+ minutes later. She rang the bell and Dorothy opened the door in her her towel. She hugged Mavis the moment she saw her.
"Babe, you really came." , she said while hugging her.
Mavis hugged her back and said, "Of course I came. And you should be more careful. Don't just swing the door open without asking who was at the door. What if I was a bad guy."
Dorothy let go. Told Mavis to come and reply to her as she closes the door. " Then do bad things to me babe. I'll accept anything you do to me. And who would do anything to me. I'm so loveable. "
"Yeah yeah,of course you are. That is one more reason to be careful. Anyway , can I use your bathroom. I want to wash my face and redo my make up." ,said Mavis.
"Yeah sure, I was about to ask you what's wrong with your face. I thought that man of yours did you wrong." Dorothy said carefully.
Mavis laughed it off, " You think too much, I was at the auditions and I thought I should adjust my make up for a scene. Plus he will never hurt me."
They prepared themselves. Talking about their days when they were not together. Friendship stuffs. And they headed out.
At a six star Restaurant. Duncan Restaurant.
Dave Lesley and Lilian Martin were having their own talk while enjoying their meal.
Lilian asked first, " So what were you saying about this girl around my Danny?"
Dave said with a disappointed voice, " You really don't want to hear anything about me huh? You're breaking my heart."
Lilian over looked Dave's words and pressed , " Tell me or I'll go find someone else to tell me."
He smirked and said , " You really don't care about me. Oh well, I'll tell you."
He paused and continued, "Around over a year, Daniel started going out with a little actress."
Lilian mocked, " It's just a little actress, it's just a passing thing. And from what you said , it seems like she does not have a very impressive background."
"Well, she's from an average family. Raised by a single mother. But that's not what is important. That girl you look down on. She's really a looker. I might say....hmm...never mind. She looks a lot like you. If I didn't know anything, I would have thought you were sisters." Dave said looking for her reaction.
Hearing what Dave said didn't sit well with Lilian. She got annoyed and said, " Oh, so she's trying to look like me. That's funny. Well, it doesn't matter. It seems like she's just a substitute to him. After all, it seems like Daniel went to her because of her looks . But since I have returned, it's natural that he'll come back to me. " She continued eating relieved that Daniel still has her in his heart.
Dave said to her , " Things might not be that simple. "
Then thought to himself, ("After all , I can see how he looks at her.")
Lilian said to him smiling, "Of course it is simple as that. She is nothing but a substitute. "
Dave thought looking at her, ("Daniel said Lilian is simple,innocent and forward. But that's not what I see. But what I see is different. Still, I seriously can't help but worry about her. ")
Lilian asked Dave, " What's her name?"
Dave was puzzled by the question for a moment because he was lost in his thoughts. He paused a bit looking at her and came to his senses ,
" Her name? Oh. It's Mavis Williams. You know, that last girl at the auditions. "
Lilian looked at Dave surprised and started laughing and said to him , "Hahaha!...you mean that disheveled girl ? She looks nothing like me. You got me worried for a moment because of someone like that?"
Dave said to her, "That's not how she looks, I think she did her make up like that for the sce..."
She cut his words, "Excuses excuses, I can't believe this."
Dave and Lilian continue with their lunch and started catching up with how they were during those years they were apart.
In a different restaurant.
Mavis and Dorothy were enjoying their meal.
Dorothy asked ," oh, how was the auditions? Did you get the role?"
Mavis answered, "Well, they seemed satisfied. So if it's fair, I can say the role is totally mine."
Dorothy saw how confident Mavis was and said , " That's my girl."
Mavis thought of something and said , "Oh, speaking of auditions, one of the judges was a girl who really looked a lot like me. Sammy said she was the heiress of the Martin family. "
"Martin Family? Oh, I know her name Lilian Martin. I heard she went to study abroad after high school. So she returned. How is she?" Dorothy asked.
Mavis answered, " Well, I don't know. But from what I've seen, she looked and acted like how most of the heiresses would be. She's beautiful too."
They enjoyed their meal and everyone went back to their homes.
Mavis went to the mansion she was staying with Daniel.
Daniel said to her, "Welcome back. You should start getting ready . The make up artists and dressers will be here soon. "
Mavis replied him ,"Okay Honey. How was your day? You look tired" She asked him and started giving him a shoulder massage. "
He thanked her for the massage and answered her, " Well, it was tiring. I'm thinking of taking a few days off after this project we are busy with."
The make up artists and dressers arrived . Mavis kissed Daniel on his lips and she went upstairs to prepare for the Ball party.
Later that night, they went to the Ball Party . It was hosted by the Antlas Family.
During the party.
Everyone was enjoying their night. Daniel was greeted by lots of people, Mavis was also with him . He was talking to one of his business partners when he heard a familiar voice.
"DANNY!!!" , it was Lilian. She ran and jumped into his arms and hugged him tightly.
Daniel was caught off guard and held her. He broke the hug and was surprised to see her.
"Li...Lilian?" He was overwhelmed. He didn't see her for so long but now she was there infront of him.
He didn't know how to feel or react.
He showed a smile that Mavis has never seen before. Mavis could not describe the feeling she was feeling. Was it jealousy? She did not know. She held herself together even though what was happening did not make much of a sense to her. The woman that looked similar to her was calling Daniel so affectionately.
She stuttered and called out his name ,"D...Daniel?"
They looked at her. She felt like a stranger. But she smiled and was about to say something.
Lilian spoke first , "Danny, who is she?"
Daniel looked at Mavis and answered Lilian , "Someone I know."
