Kaylor was at the wheel as they drove to Principal Kate's home in the rich neighborhood of Burdly. All houses were the same—elegant, pristine, the kind of place that screamed influence and power. As they stepped out of the car and stared at it, Justin hesitated.
"This is a bad idea, Kaylor. We should just go home," Justin whispered.
Kaylor was determined and unrelented, and kept walking towards the house. "Kaylor," Justin hush-yelled, grabbing her attention.
She turned around, matching his hush yell. "Justin, my brother has been gone for days. I've been calling, it's ringing, so I know he's alive, but he's not picking up! Liam just came back from Crimson Estate, and the compulsion didn't work on him—just like it didn't work on you."
"Yeah, that's because my aunt's witch shop freed me from the compulsion. How does Liam still remember, he's not a witch, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a witch for an aunt." Justin said in his defense.
