Kai sat slumped in the wine cellar, with an empty bottle rolling away as he poured the contents of another into his glass. The ache he felt was unbearable. He ran a hand through his hair, groaning loudly.
"Fuck!" he cursed. He took another swig, trying to drown out the ache—something he couldn't explain, and something he hated even more because of it.
The door opened and Zephyr stepped in. Kai's eyes flared with anger. "Motherfucker… don't you know how to give a man his space?" he snarled.
Zephyr remained calm. "I'm sorry for interrupting," he began, "but Damien and I are heading to Burdly town. There's a post about a search party going on, started at four. If Liam's shapeshifting into someone else, our best guess is he's heading there."
Kai scoffed and waved him off, not in the mood to entertain his brother's theories. "Have fun," he muttered, dropping the bottle to the floor, uncaring as it hit the floor with a dull thud. He reached for another bottle.
