The car fell into an odd silence. Zephyr was focused on the wheel and Kai was lost in his thoughts. Zephyr finally broke it, scoffing lightly. "You wanna hear something crazy?"
Kai cleared his throat. "Yeah. What's that?"
"I always thought… deep down, that you loved Anya. And sometimes, I felt like Anya felt the same about you."
Kai's heart stopped, what the fuck? He struggled to react, he was in shock. Zephyr noticed his brother's silence and laughed nervously. "See? Told you it was crazy," he said, shaking his head. "But don't say anything, all right? I know you'd never. I trust you, Kai. With everything in me."
Kai swallowed hard, the guilt was now suffocating him. He couldn't find any words, so he just nodded. Zephyr didn't notice, he was too focused on driving, while Kai sat in silence, with guilt eating him alive.
