Olivia had her perfect excuse already crafted, 'No, I love my boyfriend, can't cheat on him? And most of them are not my type.'
Freya had also observed a gap in Olivia, she needed to help her mend it, 'Wait a minute, I see, the way you look at Jabari. Your face and body expression absolutely says you like him.'
Unhesitatingly, Olivia didn't want to hide her feelings, she wished to make them known. However, reality had set up stumbling blocks, making it hard for her to pull through, 'Yes, I do like him, but it looks like I am invisible to him. Besides, Veronica is like a mosquito, chasing after him almost everywhere. Also, the crucial thing is, he is a vampire. You know what the supreme law dictates about dating a different species, it can't simply work out.'
At the mention of Veronica, Freya went an extra mile, just to broaden her horizon, '
Do you think there is something between Jabari and Veronica?'
Olivia gave some thoughts to what Freya had just said, then hopelessly exhaled a heavy sigh, 'I guess you are right, I will find a way to get close to him. The cave you fear to enter might have the treasure that you seek.'
Freya laughed hysterically, making her even chock in the process, tears welling up in her eyes, 'Oh no, now you are bombarding me with wisdom?' Freya chuckled even more.
Veronica and Carlos sat next to each other in the Dystopian Community office. The two were quite close. He was one person she entertained other than Jabari Dakarai.
Veronica raised up a conversation, 'Carlos! Alexander does not give me work anymore, he is giving my work to Freya. I think he is playing a game of favor here.' The information proved to be interesting to Carlos as he twisted his body and gave it extra attention. 'What makes you say so? And how long has this been going on? Maybe there is just no work yet?' Veronica made three thick wrinkles on her forehead, clearly disapproving Carlos' statement.
'I sincerely doubt that.' As she shook her head. Carlos' interest was building up slowly. He twisted his eyebrows, opened his eyes wide and rolled them upward. Then he insisted on getting some clarity, 'Yes, go on, I am listening!' Clearly wanting to know more, for there is definitely something burning up out here. They say there is no smoke without fire.
Veronica found one reason to prove her hypothesis, 'Look at the car. Has Alex ever asked or given you to drive it? But for Freya, it is a different story. Not even Olivia has ever driven it. It's not fair! I think he doesn't like me that much.' Carlos smiled mischievously. 'I think you are taking this whole thing quite personal. Well, you know that life is not fair and will never be. Anyway, I am not interested in driving it, because I spend most of my time here.'
Veronica frantically opposed Carlos' view, while she tried not to offend him in the process, 'Look, that is not the point, we all fall under the same program and therefore, we all deserve equal treatment.' You could see how serious she was by her facial expressions of sadness, her words filled anger emotions and discontentment, 'Anyway, I just brought out that point just to prove my theory.' After thinking for a while critically, Carlos thought of an idea, as he suggested. 'OK, I hear you loud and clear, I will take that concern into consideration. Or maybe you should take it out for the house meeting?' There was a light ball in Veronica's eyes and mind. Without doubt, she hadn't thought about it in this way. She sharply raised her voice of praise, 'That is a good idea, my friend. Thank you so much, you are a genius.'
Right away after that hot conversation between Veronica and Carlos, Jabari walked into the Dystopian Community Office, he went direct to Friedrich, who immediately gave his salutation upon seeing Jabari walk into his office cell block, 'How are you, Jabari?' He wore a smiley face all the time, an expression he kept even as he talked. He was a normal vampire, not a day-walker. But at this time, the cause of that big smile was Jabari.
Jabari was slow in opening his charming mouth, with a dim smile which came as a result of the reaction to Friedrich's one, 'I am fine, and you?' As he threw back the greeting to Friedrich.
'I am fine, as you can see!' Another deep smile covered his cheeks. If you are not familiar with his personality, he could infect you with his smiley face.
Friedrich is the director of the Dystopian Community. He worked hand in hand with Alexander, also a childhood friend of Jabari. They kind of grew up together.
Jabari dived into his many reasons for his visit, 'The boys told me that you needed to see me?' His smile always ever on his face.
From his facial expression, one can predict that he had sent word to him, 'Yes, I was about to call you, it is a good thing you came. I need tomatoes for two hundred dollars.'
Jabari charmed in, as a grin shone on his face, 'You are speaking to the right man.'
Friedrich went on, 'Can you bring them today, we need them to prepare supper for the children?' The tomatoes were needed for the orphanage. Jabari was excited, he loved to do business, especially today, he really did want cash so desperately.
Without consuming much time, he responded, 'Definitely, I will cater for you.'
From the moment Jabari had entered the office, he kept glancing at Veronica from time to time, who seemed to be busy, focusing on her laptop. The office was one big open room, partitioned into small compartments. One can easily see and talk to the other person smoothly.
Friedrich whispered to Jabari, 'why are you letting meat wonder like this? If I had not been married, undoubtedly, I could have snatched one for myself. But i have a family now. As for you, you are still single. Come on Jabari?' Females were referred to as meat, as the language these two dudes used.
Jabari was smiling from the inside. You could just see his dimples flushing out.
'Pick her!' Friedrich gestured with his twisted head pointing at Veronica. Friedrich loved women and was a risk-taker, but he was never caught, not even a single day, but after marrying he had reduced his thirst and lust for females.
Jabari chuckled lightly, 'Maybe some day!' Jabari shook his head.
Friedrich protested in a friendly manner, 'No! Brother, time waits for no one, otherwise you will be late. I am just giving you advice. Just imagine how your life will be for the next two years?' Friedrich was forgetting about Veronica being a wolf, Jabari being a vampire day walker and the most undisputed power, the supreme law.
'I hear you, brother, I do!' Jabari didn't want to go further on the subject, he just agreed to shut Friedrich's mouth.
'Good!' His smile grew wider. Right there, Jabari knew it was time to disappear from this office, excused himself to leave. 'Brother, I have to go now, and prepare your tomatoes.'
Friedrich thought Jabari really needed to deliver the tomatoes, so he let him loose, 'Alright! See you later.'
As Jabari made five steps before leaving the office, Veronica called after him. Making him come to a halt.
'Jabari! Just a minute?'
