Chapter 29 - Journey to the west [2]

Inside the room in the top floor of the wooden inn, Paul finally took off the black cloak with a hood, leaving only his leather armor on and exposing scars.

Standing before the mirror, he looked at himself.

With dirty and disheveled blonde hair filled with lice, it seemed as if he had been living in a wilderness for a whole year.

On the left side of his face, there was a scar caused by the claws of a beast.

On other parts of his body, from his palm to his back and legs, there were other prominent scars. None of them was still an injury, having healed already, but the scars left behind told the story of how horrifying they once were.

Looking at this mirror, Paul conveniently ignored his wild appearance and paid attention to his sunken eyes; he counted. 'Healing, superhuman strength, storm control, foresight, and immunity to alcohol'.

'Corresponding to the Divine Gods, Apollo, Ares, Poseidon, Heimdall, and Dionysus, leaving the Divine Gods, Thor and Hera'.

'When will I awaken my remaining God powers?'

'Is this enough to rescue sister?' He asked, his sunken eyes still focused on his reflection in the mirror.

It was already 5 days ago since Paul claimed his first human life, and it was also 5 days ago since he killed Geass, his first combat teacher.

After killing Geass, all his God essence was exhausted and till date, Paul felt that the exhaustion that follows that is the worst that he had ever experienced.

Despite just wanting to fall down right there in the farm to sleep, rest, and recover, Paul didn't because of several reasons.

Of course, he wanted to go after his sister but without the God power of acute senses, he doubted that he could track down an intermediate Heimdall. This left only the option of obeying and going to Greenland City after his sister.

He could not rush this.

The real reason why he left the farm still at that moment despite his exhaustion was to not give his aunty a reason to follow him to Greenland City.

Paul loved and respected his aunty, but in the end, she had her own family. He didn't want to drag her into his own family problems.

Aunt Ariel already did enough for him and his sister, he was determined to keep them off the loop and carry on with the cross that started with his father's death. This was why he left the farm that night.

He couldn't go too far though as randomly entering a nearby forest, he found a safe place before laying and instantly falling asleep.

Paul woke up when the sun was already full in the middle of the sky. After hunting to eat, he finally started his journey to the west.

Of course, he observed the loot that he got from his teacher's corpse.

At first, Paul could not get the hang of it but after learning to pour God essence inside the leather pouch, he finally confirmed that it was no ordinary pouch. It had an entirely different space far bigger than he expected inside.

Inside the leather pouch was a space as big as a simple room.

Without prior knowledge about it, Paul could immediately tell that the leather pouch was an expensive God creation. Inside the pouch was not empty.

Inside the leather pouch, Paul found coins, 3 gold coins and 150 silver coins.

The most money he had ever held in his life was 20 bronze coins

Considering that 100 bronze coins had the same value as 1 silver coin, and that 1,000 silver coins had the same value as a gold coin, Paul became rich overnight. He never expected Geass to be that rich.

Apart from the coins, he found other weapons inside the pouch like the Stilettos handed to him, all God creations created and imbued with God essence.

There was a battle Axe, a sword, another set of daggers exactly like Geass' personal daggers, including a bow and several arrows.

Lastly, he found a book inside the leather pouch, it had a cover and a name.

{Basics of Knife Fighting}

To Paul, this was the greatest find that he discovered inside the book and the find that he spent the most time with for the past 5 days.

Compared to 5 days ago, his dagger fighting was now far more refined that before. He was no longer a complete noob with a dagger.

With so much money, he didn't have a lot of problems after leaving Aunt Ariel's farm. He simply walked west till he entered the next village, then asking for directions to Greenland City, he continued his journey west.

Through the past 5 days, Paul's journey led him through 4 different villages and 2 towns as he got exposed to a lot of things he didn't know before.

In this time, he had his fair share of battles.

Not just battles against demonic beasts in the road and in the wild, he also fought against bandits in the roads who sought to kill him and loot his corpse, and also against bandits in the towns who aimed for his leather pouch.

This only confirmed to him that it was a precious treasure.

He protected it tighter, but at the same time, through these battles, he was able to translate what he learned in the book into tangible battle experience.

He suffered injuries, but nothing life-threatening since his healing God power was always there to save his life.

The only blemish were the scars that were left behind. Maybe, in the future, if he became an intermediate and subsequently Advanced rank awakened, his healing would become strong enough to heal the scars.

For now, they would stay as a reminder of his deadly encounters.

Paul was exhausted after spending most of the night traveling just so he could arrive at Drizzle Town on time since he didn't want to spend the night on the road again after a deadly encounter against some powerful bandits.

It took his storm control powers before he could barely escape.

Keeping his black cloak at the side, then holding the leather pouch firmly with one hand, he laid down on the bed in this room and closed his eyes.

Shortly after, he slept.

"He's inside that room!" A voice growled deeply. "You can't possibly be thinking of stopping us Gazel, that madman killed one of us".

"The Butcher won't take it, and neither would we!"

"Let us take him now in peace and settle our score".

"I'm not saying don't take him!" A familiar voice hissed. "I'm just saying that whatever it is you people want to do, just take it outside my inn".

"How?" The middle-aged man stared at the owner of this inn coldly. "By telling him to walk out?"

"Yeah, maybe".

Right at that moment, there was another sound.

Click!

They all became alarmed, then looking, they saw the door open only for the culprit already in his black cloak and hood again step out.

Paul ignored the almost a dozen awakened warriors in gray leather armor that were gathered in this corridor, paying attention to the owner of the inn instead. He stretched out his hand. "My change".

The man handed a black bag of jiggling coins in his hand. "That's all, in bronze coins, you can leave".

Paul nodded and turned to leave, then looking at these men before him, he nodded. "You heard him, let's take it outside".

The middle-aged man scoffed. "Let's see if you can stay this calm after we go outside".

They moved, Paul followed.
