Following him from behind and into the open outside the park, Paul observed more about this man.
He was thin but fit, he could tell that power were packed in those slim muscles. This man was just like a Heimdall, and most importantly, he was stealthy.
Paul would have never noticed if he wasn't so vigilant in the first place.
Since the moment he stepped foot on Greenland City, he was moments away from stabbing his Stiletto into the first man or woman that would startle him.
He barely followed him for a minute when something inexplicable happened.
"You're sharp".
Paul flinched but he didn't pause, this was because he was positive that no one around spoke to him. Since awakening his divine power of the God Heimdall, his senses became one of his strongest suits.
This was how he could tell that this voice sounded in his head.
'What God power is this?' He thought, vigilant.
"Compared to that night, you've improved a lot".
Still following the man, he carefully paid attention to his surroundings. Finding out that no one spied on him, he scowled.
"Don't bother looking, there's no one spying".
Paul continued walking.
"I can't say I'm not impressed. Compared to that weak and naïve boy that night, you've grown to become a man, a killer".
"Your sister would be heartbroken".
"Shut up!" Paul growled, attracting a few gazes from the passersby as they finally paid attention to the weird man in a black cloak, giving him some distance.
The voice laughed in his head. "Keep on following the man, I'm waiting for you. Be obedient, Paul, this will all end soon enough".
Walking through the streets of Greenland City, passing by multiple shops, restaurants, and high-rise stone buildings, things that a village boy like Paul was unaccustomed to, after more than 20 minutes, the man finally entered an alley.
When Paul entered the same alley, he stopped, because the man was gone.
There were no traces of him, almost as if he disappeared.
"Don't act so scared, it doesn't fit the look in your eyes. Just keep on walking straight, you'll meet me soon".
Paul started walking without hesitation through this long alley, and after what felt like a minute, he met a barrier.
Walking into it, Paul felt like he walked into a bubble.
He recoiled, dashing back alertly as he already unsheathed one of his Stilettos in his right hand. With his left hand, he carefully touched the transparent barrier again, watching his hand go through it like nothing was there.
'Teleportation'. Paul thought. 'The Odin faction'.
'He's not alone'. His eyes narrowed. He didn't let the voice speak in his head first though, he walked into the barrier, then…
BZZZT!
Paul disappeared.
He reappeared inside an entirely different location.
Feeling the world under his feet again, Paul lowered his stance, observing his surroundings vigilantly. He was now inside a building with thick black walls that seemed to have been carved out of obsidian stone.
The building was just one large vacant hall, and its black walls towered into the sky, making this place seem like a black castle.
Paul's eyes narrowed in recognition. When he just entered the city, at the park, observing his surroundings, he seemed to have caught sight of the black tip of a towering building.
'Did they make me walk such a distance just to spite me? Or to disorient me?'
'What's their motive?'
He shook his head. 'It doesn't matter, so long I find Sophia'.
Paul walked forward through the large hall inside this black castle. At the end of the castle, almost a kilometer away from where he stood, he already saw a throne carved from the same black stone on an elevated platform.
And on the throne, he saw something familiar seated on it. An assassin in black cloak with triple 6 drawn in the middle of the cloak with red ink.
Thud! Thud!
His footsteps echoed in the silence as he moved.
"Honestly, you are a rare Cosmopolitan, a one of a kind. Your powers and growth have completely confounded even me".
"Despite all these crazy favor from the Gods, somehow, it is still not the most shocking fact about you".
"The most shocking thing about you is your will".
"Kidnapping that bitch was a wild card, I never expected that you would travel all that distance all in a hopeless attempt to save your beloved sister".
"I never knew you talked so much". Paul snapped coldly.
"I don't talk," the assassin replied. "Not even to my own allies. I only talk to people who I deem worthy, mostly worthy rivals".
"Paul Arakkis, you are a Cosmopolitan that has attracted my curiosity".
Paul no longer responded, he was in no talking mood.
A few minutes later, he stood at the foot of the elevated platform, looking up at the throne and its inhabitant who wore a familiar gray mask with his hollow and sunken eyes.
He demanded. "Where is my sister?"
The assassin stayed silent, only looking down at him through the slits in his gray mask. "Oh, the bitch? I sold her off to a slave caravan".
Paul stayed silent, simply staring at the eyes behind the gray mask.
"Who knows? Maybe she has been devoured by demonic beasts already. She's beautiful, so I doubt, she's probably in the house of some rich merchant serving as a sex slave already".
"You see, that's the benefit of beauty. Beautiful girls are rarely killed".
Paul stared at the gray mask. "Where is my sister?" He demanded again.
This assassin finally stood up. "Where is my sister?" He repeated in a mocking tone. "Oh! how much I tremble at the sound of your voice, Paul Arakkis". He said, his voice reeking with sarcasm.
"Anyways," his voice finally turned cold. "Enough with the play, boy, thank you for bringing yourself to my doorsteps".
"I was already thinking of my horrible death in the hands of the elders, you just saved me of that fate, that is why I am in a chattering mood".
"When I got the news from the Butcher, I couldn't believe it"
"The Butcher?" Paul looked at him.
"Oh! You'd know him, you met his boys in Drizzle Town".
Paul narrowed his eyes.
"Anyways, let's end this". This assassin finally brought out his dagger. "There's nothing more I would love than killing you myself after all that you made me go through, but unfortunately, the order wants you alive".
"Emerge". His voice reverberated through this hall, then, just as Paul entered this hall in the castle, more people started appearing.
More assassins with familiar black cloaks.
Paul counted. '1…, 2…, 3…, 4…, 5…,' he lost count.
Dozens of assassins of the order of the triple six entered this hall; Paul smiled coldly. "You flatter me".
"Flatter you? A Cosmopolitan who was acknowledged by 5 Divine Gods? Are you kidding me kid? I would be a fool not to over-flatter you".
His voice turned even colder. "Apprehend him".
And then, the dozens of assassins moved.
Silently letting out an exhale, Paul calmly looked at the assassins coming after him before unsheathing his second Stiletto.
Paul was ready to murder till he finds his sister!
The assassin in the elevated platform cackled on seeing his reaction, he spread his hands in excitement. "Let the carnage begin!"
