"What?!"
"A single intermediate awakened was able to take out 5 of my men?!" A deep voice bellowed in the echoing confines of a stone building.
This was a mighty looking man who stood at more than 2 meters tall, his hands and biceps were as thick as a tree trunk.
One of his eye was gone, evidence to a blade injury as a blade scar cut from the left side of his forehead down through his left eye to his nose.
He didn't bother to wear an eyepatch which only added to his already menacing aura.
He was bare-chested, wearing only a thick black trouser.
This was Bane, the Butcher, the flying pirate. He was a powerful Advanced awakened warrior who was factioned to the Divine, Ares. He awakened the divine powers of superhuman strength, flight, and pyrokinesis.
He was one of the strongest awakened warriors in Drizzle Town, on par with the town's Chief guard himself.
At this moment, this powerful awakened warrior fumed as he was informed about the loses to his pirate army. "You, you said you showed him the direction to Greenland City?"
The poor awakened warrior nodded profusely. "Y-y-yes my lord". He stammered.
"Good, come closer".
The awakened warrior in gray leather armor looked up at his lord. He shivered slightly, hesitating.
"Oh my goodness, where is all this cowardice coming from among my warriors? Did I tell you that I will kill you?"
"No, boss".
"Then, come".
Still shaking, this awakened warrior stood up before walking closer. As soon as he was close enough, the giant of a man who was seated on his throne again patted him reassuringly on the shoulder, then…
Crack!
In one movement, his hand moved, pushing this warrior's head and snapping it all the way till the back of his head now faced front while the front faced back.
It was a display of absolutely horrifying power.
The warrior died on the spot.
He chuckled coldly. "I never said I won't kill him". With that, he stood up from his throne, heading through a door into a corridor in this massive stone building.
"Lord Butcher," a middle-aged warrior interrupted him. "What should we do regarding the offender?"
"Him?" He paused, as if thinking. "Leave him alone".
With that, he walked away inside the corridor deep inside this building, only followed by another awakened with pale skin who wore same gray armor that had been silently behind him since, even while he was seated on his throne in his self-proclaimed throne room.
This warrior's skin was so pale that little differentiated it from the leather armor that he wore, his silky black hair stood in sharp contrast to his skin color.
It almost seemed like he had no blood in his body.
"Harus". He called in a deep voice as they walked.
"Yes, my Lord".
"Take the fastest route to Greenland City, tell the black-cloaked bastard that the eagle has landed". At this moment, in the darkness, a cruel smile twisted his lips. "Tell him that I'm expecting my payment during the next shipment here".
"As you wish, my Lord". This awakened warrior bowed deeply before disappearing into thin air like he was never there.
…
Following the directions that the pirate gave him, Paul easily arrived at the main junction that he described.
The junction led into 4 different roads, one of them being the biggest, almost twice as wide as the others. He guessed it was the main road that led from this town straight to Greenland City.
In the junction, there were different carriages pulled by demonic horses but what shocked Paul most was the cars.
There were working cars in Drizzle Town!
Since he was born after the Age of Gods began, Paul had never seen a car before entering the Endless Wilderness. And even the ones he saw there in the ruin were worn out due to the passage of time, but this was the real deal.
This was a real, working locomotive car.
It was clear that the horse-driven carriages were cheaper since more people gathered in their parks, but cheap didn't really concern Paul now. After taking Geass' leather pouch, he was rich.
Besides, he simply wanted to have the experience of riding on a car.
With the same bleak expression on his face, with the same sunken look in his eyes, he walked over before a guard in familiar red and black leather armor stopped him. This guard sized him up, paying attention to how unkept he looked. "Hey, what do you want?"
Paul looked at the guard. "I want to take a ride". Immediately, a silver coin materialized in his hand.
This guard sized him up again. "2 silver coins for a car ride".
Paul paused for a moment, stupefied at how expensive it was to ride a car but he didn't stay for long, another silver coin materialized in his hand. "Here". He said, handing it over to the guard.
The guard scrutinized it carefully before letting him in.
Entering a car for the first time, Paul had the same cold look on his face but inside, he felt something. 'So cozy'. He briefly thought before his head became occupied by thoughts of what awaited him ahead.
Once the door to the car was closed, the driver started it and drove. Since Paul had no one with him, he enjoyed a luxurious 1-man ride.
As the car moved through the paved road though, he was no longer fascinated by his surroundings as his head became dominated by different thoughts. What should he expect in Greenland City?
Was his sister still alive?
Would they keep her waiting for him?
If Greenland City was truly a base of the order of triple six, would he survive going to Greenland City?
There were many questions in his head with no answers, but in the end, Paul simply decided to shut his brain down.
There was no use thinking. No matter what came his way, he would face it unflinchingly. What mattered above all else was rescuing Sophia.
The wheels of the car rolled through the paved road, the car's engine roared, the scenery outside passed swiftly, amazing Paul at the speed of the car and before he knew it, after just about a dozen minutes, they arrived.
Paul finally completed his journey to the west.
He finally stepped foot in Greenland City.
For the first time in his life, he set foot in a city. Greenland City was just as he expected it to be, gigantic, busy, and modern.
There were cars moving in the streets, there were no mud roads, all tiled. And there were multiple high-rise stone story buildings here and there.
This really was a city.
After stopping at the Drizzle Town park, Paul came down, taking in the busy ambience of this city but that was when someone brushed against his side, rushing off and blending into the bustle of the park.
Despite dozens of people filling this park, Paul did not take his eyes away from the man that just brushed against him.
He remembered that aura, afterall, his trauma was tied to it.
'The order of the triple six'. His eyes narrowed.
Paul followed the man.
