Let found himself swimming among countless other sperm cells, all racing in a single direction. God had told him he would start life from the very beginning, but he assumed that meant as a baby. Starting as a sperm cell was something he hadn't anticipated.
Despite not having eyes, Let could see his surroundings in some strange way. But he didn't have time to think about it, as he was trailing behind in the race. Let swam with all his might toward the target, but while the others darted ahead like underwater torpedoes, he made little progress.
Soon, the others got so far ahead that he could no longer see them. Lost and unsure of which direction to swim, Let eventually reached the egg, only to realize cell division had already begun.
Realizing he was too late, Let came up with an idea. He could control everything that was part of him and could perform actions that defied logic, so he decided to use this power to his advantage.
Knowing that a sperm cell couldn't survive for long, he still had enough time to solve this issue. All he had to do was transfer his soul to another cell.
A stem cell seemed like a perfect choice, though there was a minor issue. Since he could control everything that was part of him, he didn't have to follow the standard approach—doing so would waste his potential.
He considered becoming a white blood cell, but that was an even worse choice. Being a single-celled microorganism was tempting in some ways, and if he had to pick one, it would be an amoeba. The only issue would be his vulnerability to the body's immune system.
He then thought about becoming a virus. It had some advantages, but viruses weren't technically alive, and the cons outweighed the pros. A silicon-based life form would be intriguing, but he doubted he could find such a cell here.
After considering for a long time, Let decided to possess one of the stem cells nearby. He would remain as one of the stem cells in the newly forming body until he could create the perfect cell for himself. His decision stemmed from the fact that a stem cell was the foundation of the entire organism, and the stronger the foundation, the better.
Let transferred his soul into one of the stem cells in the newly formed zygote. Then, he said, "System."
[At your service, sir.]
"Tell me about your basic features."
[I am a simulator system. Due to restrictions placed on me, my abilities are tied to your strength. The stronger you become, the better rewards I can provide.]
"That doesn't sound too bad. So, what are the limitations on simulation rewards?"
[Normally, you would have the right to choose three skills at the start of a simulation and keep one permanently at the end. But you don't have that privilege. Depending on your actions in the simulation, you can retain something you've gained during it.]
"That's annoying but still good. Anyway, start the simulation."
[Day 1: Nothing happened. You waited without interfering with the cell.
[Day 2: The cell underwent meiosis. Not wanting to exist in two bodies, you focused your soul on one cell.
[Day 3: Another mitotic division occurred. The cells looked somewhat weakened from consecutive divisions.
[Day 4: Let decided to make a breakthrough, forming a vacuole using the cell membrane. The cell continued dividing every day.
[Day 5: You emptied the vacuole and slowly began modifying it.
[Day 6: You created a miniature model of the cell structure. You planned to conduct various experiments on this model later.
[Day 7: You decided to alter the nucleus of the cell model. A robotic nucleus seemed more useful, as it would increase control over the cell's functions.
[Day 8: The experiment ended in failure, and the cell model lost its vitality.
[Day 9: You created a new cell model and tried again, but with the same result. Creating a metal nucleus seemed nearly impossible.
[Day 10: You decided to try a silicon-based nucleus instead of metal. This time, it worked, though a few issues remained.
[Day 11: You worked on resolving the issues.
[Day 12: You solved some more problems.
[Day 13: You decided to make some changes to the cell membrane of the model.
[Day 14: You reviewed potential issues and tried to eliminate security vulnerabilities.
[Day 15: You resolved most of the security vulnerabilities related to the silicon nucleus.
[Day 16: You attempted to give the cell the ability to enter cryptobiosis, starting by creating a way to expel excess water from the cell.
[Day 17: Your work on cryptobiosis continued. The fact that freezing was required for it bothered you greatly.
[Day 18: You searched for a way to enter cryptobiosis without freezing. Although unsuccessful, you developed a faster method of entering and exiting the state.
[Day 19: You made cryptobiosis mode much more efficient, eliminating unnecessary energy loss.
[Day 20: You decided to name your cell type Visiok. For now, you couldn't think of anything else to do.
[Day 21: You noticed some of the surrounding stem cells were differentiating and losing their stem cell properties. You chose to maintain Visiok's stem cell status.
[Day 22: You continued working on Visiok.
[Day 23: You ensured that Visiok would never lose its stem cell properties.
[Day 24: You removed the organelles from the Visiok micro-organism, turning it into a more primitive cell.
[Day 25: You developed a simple method for Visiok cells to divide. You created a second silicon nucleus in the Visiok cell, then divided the cell by splitting the membrane. Now, you had two Visiok cells.
[Day 26: You conducted experiments on Visiok cells. When your control over these cells was strong enough, you began transforming yourself into a larger Visiok cell.
[Day 27: You wondered what to do next.
[Day 28: You were still considering your next steps.
…
[Day 50: Still with nothing to do, you thought it might be time to transition into a multicellular organism but wanted to strengthen the foundation further.
[Day 51: While pondering how to make the cytoplasm more efficient, you saw a bright blue glow nearby.
[Day 52: You saw that blue glow again. You suspected it was mana, which gave you the courage to go beyond modern biology.
[Day 53: You began tinkering with the space-time fabric around yourself. You could control everything that was part of you, including your mass, as objects' mass affects space-time fabric.
[Day 54: You were killed by a white blood cell.
