It's been more than four years since the death of Han Rong's SWAT teammates. Three of them lost their lives. Every night, Han Rong would recall their final moment. He remembered every single bit of it. It pained him every day. He would cry himself to sleep then wake up with nightmares. He pretended to be fine in front of his parents and his younger sister, Lingling. He even pretended to be fine in front of his only love, Yuqin.
After the theft incident, he finished his report and asked for an early leave. Max and Albert continued with their work along with Ling. Han Rong slowly navigated his wheelchair and exited the building. The weather in Sanya was hot and humid even though it was almost autumn. Guanting, his father, was waiting for him outside the building.
"Han Rong!"
Han Rong slightly smiled at his father, who was ecstatic to see his son.
"Look who I brought." Han Rong slightly turned his head and he saw his love, Yuqin. She stood there quietly and smiled. She didn't want to force herself onto him.
Han Rong's expression started to change, "Dad, why did you bring her? She's supposed to be working now."
Guanting laughed slightly and replied, "We bumped into each other. She also got off work early. It's been quite a while since I saw the young lady who saved my youngest daughter. I am forever indebted to her. Han Rong, I still have to bring these back home otherwise your mom will start nagging at me. Yuqin, Han Rong, take your time and chat away." Guan Ting waved and left.
Han Rong smiled and then his head turned to Yuqin, who was looking at him.
"Yuqin. Come here." Yuqin slowly walked towards him, feeling a bit nervous. He was still him. The same man whom she fell in love with. Even though he was in his wheelchair, he was still the same handsome man. Why was she so nervous all of a sudden?
"Han Rong."
"Yes?" He looked at her with the kindest smile. The smile that would melt anyone.
"Could you tell me what happened to you? If you're not ready to share, I won't force you." She smiled and looked away.
It took Han Rong a long time to be able to share what happened to him. It was difficult and challenging. He didn't want to feel like he was a burden to anyone. Just then, Han Rong, saw a familiar face. The face he wanted to hide from. He turned his face away but it was too late.
"Officer Han Rong."
Yuqin stayed close to Han Rong and saw a man in front of him. He looked a bit older than Han Rong. Just then, Han Rong tightly gripped Yuqin's wrist.
"Yuqin, let's go."
Yuqin nodded and gently pushed the wheelchair.
"Officer Han Rong! Don't you remember me? I was at the memorial. I know you remembered me. My brother died because of you. You even have a young lady accompanying you. You're living a good life. My brother always praised you in front of me. But right now, you're just a murderer in my eyes. I won't do anything to you since we're near the police station but I won't let you off easily." The man walked away with a few of his buddies while Han Rong stayed silent.
Yuqin felt the tension between them but she didn't know the whole story yet. She gently touched his shoulder and said, "Han Rong, let's go back."
Han Rong was expressionless, he didn't say anything on the way back. People cleared the way as Yuqin navigated his wheelchair. One young child who accidentally dropped his toy soccer ball in front of him was taken away by his mother.
"Stay away from people like him."
"But mommy, my soccer ball." The child looked at her mom but the mom went the other way.
"I'll buy you another one."
Yuqin went to the front and moved the soccer ball to a safer place. She looked at Han Rong with a worried expression. She knelt down to his eye level, then held his hand. She wanted to comfort him. She wanted to take away all of the pain that he ever experienced but she knew she couldn't. She stayed with him silently at the park.
His tears streamed down his face, his eyes were red yet he remained silent. He didn't want to talk. Yuqin stood up and gently leaned his head towards her chest. Her heart ached for him. Whatever happened to him before, Yuqin won't force him to tell her. Her hand gently caressed the side of his face and she was gentle with him.
"I'm sorry." Han Rong apologized to Yuqin.
"Sorry for what?" She replied.
"I'm sorry that you had to see all of that." He replied.
Yuqin shook her head, "I'm okay. I'm just worried about you."
"Yuqin."
"Yes?"
"Thank you."
The two of them stayed at the park until five in the afternoon. Han Rong got a call from his father and he asked if Yuqin wanted to come over to have dinner together. Yuqin quickly agreed and both of them started to head back. Han Rong's new apartment was much better than before. It came with two elevators. Just then, Lingling came down to greet them.
"Brother! Here!"
Han Rong smiled at her and nodded. Lingling politely greeted Yuqin as well.
"Sister Yuqin! It's been quite a while. I didn't even recognize you after you saved me. You changed a lot." Lingling smiled.
"It took me a while to notice you, Lingling. You've grown up." Yuqin and Lingling laughed at the same time.
"Brother, since Sister Yuqin is back. Have you guys talked about getting back together yet?" Lingling looked at both of them.
"Lingling, worry about yourself first. How was your exam result?" Han Rong asked. Lingling pouted at him and replied, "This again? Come on!"
"You failed again?" Han Rong replied.
"Please don't tell mom and dad. I'll do anything you ask." Lingling begged him and Yuqin giggled.
"I bet they already knew but they didn't want to tell you." Han Rong teased Lingling. Yuqin was relieved that Han Rong's relationship with his younger sister was close.
