It's been over a week since Yuqin saw Han Rong's family. She's grateful that they've been well and safe. Today was another normal work day for everyone and there weren't too many people at the beach. Henry and Yuqin were in a staff meeting along with their colleagues and boss. During the recent meeting, their boss discussed about the events that happened involving dangerous people. He was glad that no one was seriously injured. But, he also wanted to beef up the security around the beach.
"What do you think of the meeting?" Yuqin asked Henry who was putting back the chairs to its proper place.
"About the security?" He replied. Yuqin nodded.
"I think it's good. We need more security personnel to keep other people safe."
"How is he going to hire more people? We're already on a tight budget." Yuqin sighed as she helped Henry stacking up the chairs.
"I overheard him saying that he's not going to hire more security." One colleague replied, "I heard him saying someone is going to train us."
"Train us? Who?" Henry questioned him.
"I don't know. But I heard he's a big shot." That colleague shrugged and smiled, "Guess we'll know soon. Let's head back to work now before the boss yell at us for being lazy."
Yuqin and Henry went back to their work station. She thought about the conversation and she felt a bit uneasy. Henry was talking to his wife over the phone while other lifeguards were at their station. Just like that, another day passed.
The next day, their boss made an announcement that in the afternoon, a special officer will come and give a talk. Everyone was curious and asked who it was.
"An old friend of mine. He used to work in the military and he trained many police officers around Hainan and overseas." Their boss explained and showed them a photo of his old friend, "His title is Officer Lu Cheng. Officer-in-charge I mean."
"He already sound like a big shot." One of their colleague was impressed.
"He is pretty handsome. Is he single?" One female lifeguard asked, "It's been my dream to date a military personnel."
"He is pretty good looking I should say." Henry looked at Yuqin and asked, "What do you think? About this, Officer-in-Charge Lu Cheng?"
"What do I think? I don't even know him. No clue." Yuqin was honest about her thought. It was true, she knew nothing about Lu Cheng.
That afternoon, everyone was seated in the meeting room. Thankfully, the A/C was fixed just in time. The autumn weather in Sanya still felt like it was in the middle of summer. Just then, their boss came in along with a handsome military officer. Lu Cheng.
"Everyone I would like to introduce you to Officer-In-Charge, Lu Cheng. He used to work in the military but now, he's in charge of SWAT team." Their boss gave up the spotlight to Lu Cheng.
"Good afternoon, everyone. I'm Lu Cheng. I'm currently in charge of special SWAT team. As you probably already know, I used to work in the military. Your boss and I are only acquaintances but he's my father's best friend. I'm only doing this because of the recently attacks and I'm here to train you guys to at least protect yourselves. We'll do various tests, mock exams, physical tests including medical tests, and endurance training. It will take place near here and it won't affect your work hours. Any questions?"
"When do we start to train and how long will it last?" Henry asked.
"Training starts tomorrow at early morning at 6 am to 9 am. It will last for two weeks. Free breakfast will be provided by your boss. For those who pass, we have a special positions available." Lu Cheng explained.
"What will that be?" One lifeguard asked.
"To name a few, coaching SWAT team in a closed off facility for underwater training, water rescue specialist with travel privileges. But before we get carried away, the tests will be challenging. You will be able to protect yourself using special self-defense tools and movements after all of this." He explained, "Initially, this is a self-defense class. But I would like to give everyone a chance to do something new. Ultimately, it will be up to you."
Everyone stayed silent and Henry raised his hand again, "Officer Lu Cheng, will there be underwater tests for us?"
"Yes. Everyone. You'll be practicing self-defense in the water in case you're in a hostage situation. And on land as well. The tests will include everything from land to water. Even if you pass, there will be special training again once you succeeded in applying at our place."
Henry nodded and took notes. Yuqin listened attentively and she was quite confident with her skills especially her endurance. After the talk, everyone dispersed. Yuqin stayed behind and asked Officer Lu Cheng.
"Officer Lu Cheng, you said you were in charge of SWAT team, right?"
"Yes." He replied.
"Then, do you know Officer Han Rong?"
Lu Cheng stayed silent for a few seconds.
"Yes. I do. What about him?" He asked.
"Do you know what happened to him?" Yuqin asked out of curiosity.
"Who are you to him?" Officer Lu Cheng was getting a little impatient since he was in a rush.
"Oh, I'm his friend. I saw him a couple of days ago and I'm just wondering." Yuqin lied about being his friend.
"You need to ask him. I cannot say anything. I'm sorry. I have to go now. Go back and rest." Officer Lu Cheng said his farewell while Yuqin watched him leave.
She sighed as she packed up for the day, Henry had to leave early so she was alone in the room. She thought about Lu Cheng's words and it made her more curious about what really happened to Han Rong. Before she left work, she saw a young girl running towards her. But as she got closer, it was Lingling.
"Sister Yuqin!" Lingling yelled.
"What is it?" Yuqin asked.
"It's my brother. I-I don't know what happened but he started to lose his temper. Our house is a mess. My mom is crying and she didn't know what to do. Please help us."
