After a busy week, Han Rong and his teammates went to Cozy Corner Cafe to take a well-deserved break. Han Rong wasn't in SWAT anymore but his teammates still treated him as their team leader since he was more experienced. Due to his desk job, he still had to do reports and investigate local cases. He received a phone call a few days ago from Lu Cheng, Han Rong's superior from the SWAT. Lu Cheng still wanted Han Rong to come back. But Han Rong rejected his offer since he wasn't in good shape to go back to the SWAT team.
Yuqin, on the other hand, continued with her lifeguard duties at the beach. She was a bit relieved that Han Rong was working nearby. Just then, she heard a commotion behind her.
"STOP! Give back my purse! STOP!" A lady in a blue dress ran after the thief. Yuqin used her radio to contact security while Henry already got into contact with the police for further assistance. Thankfully, two officers who were on duty caught the thief before he exited the beach. Just then, the man who stole the purse suddenly brought out a knife to threaten everyone.
"Stay back! Don't come any closer!" He yelled. Yuqin and Henry asked two other lifeguards to watch over the people as they deal with the thief.
"Young man, drop the knife." One officer yelled. Just then, the lady tried to take her purse away from the thief but the man held her hostage instead.
"Henry, I think they need more back up. Do you know when they'll come?" Yuqin took out her phone but noticed she didn't have Han Rong's phone number.
"They should arrive soon."
A few minutes later, while the two officers tried to negotiate with the man, Han Rong and his team were on scene. Max and Albert made sure no one else was injured. Ling stood beside the two officers and he got his gun ready.
"Sir, we don't want to hurt anyone today. Let go of her and we can talk." Ling spoke clearly while his eyes focused on the two of them.
"No! You don't understand!" He yelled while his knife was touching the lady's neck. The lady in the blue dress closed her eyes and whimpered.
"Sir, you need to drop the knife. We can negotiate. What do you want?" Ling asked.
"I want her to die!" The man yelled, "She killed my mother!"
Ling was stunned and speechless. Han Rong observed on the sideline and he finally talked.
"Sir, I understand you are very agitated. How about this? We can talk about this when we're at the station. You're in the public now and everyone is watching. You don't want to make it worse, right?"
He looked at Albert and nodded.
"Sir. If you kill her, you won't be able to see your son. He's turning six, I believe. Am I right?" Albert said while he tried to keep him distracted.
"How do you know I have a son? Don't you dare touch a single hair on his head!" The man yelled.
"We won't hurt him. But if you hurt her, you're not going home." He said.
Just as the man was distracted, he lowered his hand that had the knife and the lady quickly ran away but before he could catch up to her, his knife dropped to the ground and Yuqin stopped him just in time after he dropped his knife. It was by instinct. She had to stop him from hurting other people.
Albert was shocked and said, "Yuqin, good job!" He handcuffed the man who was on the ground and Yuqin cleared her throat, "Pretend you saw nothing, Henry." She turned around and Henry giggled, "That was a good one!"
"I told you to keep quiet, Henry! That was so embarrassing." Yuqin ended up tripping the man onto the ground.
After the man was caught and brought to the station, Han Rong and his teammates remained. Yuqin didn't know what to say and turned around. Han Rong saw her and called out her name.
"Yuqin." His voice was stern but it also sounded like he was worried about something.
Please don't say anything, please don't say anything. She talked to herself and then slowly turned around. She remained silent while Han Rong went to her.
"Yuqin. Were you hurt?" He asked.
"No. I'm perfectly fine. Sorry, I shouldn't have done that. It was supposed to be officer's job but I didn't want to see anyone else getting injured because of that man." She explained while her eyes were looking directly on the ground.
"Yuqin. Look at me."
Yuqin slowly lifted up her head and fixed her hair. She looked at him and Han Rong gently smiled at her, "Don't do this next time, leave it to the police." She nodded and smiled back. Yuqin knelt down to Han Rong's eye level and asked, "Does it hurt?" He shook his head, "It's better now." Han Rong lied because the pain was still there. Not physical pain, it's the pain of not being able to hold or hug someone you love.
"Yuqin."
"Yes?"
"Take care of yourself." He looked at her one more time before leaving with his teammates. Yuqin caught up to him again.
"Han Rong." He stopped but didn't turn around.
"Take care of yourself as well." Yuqin wanted to hug him and take away his pain. She saw he was in pain earlier but she wasn't able to say it out loud. She stood near the exit and watched them as they left. She tried to keep her tears in and took a deep breath.
"Yuqin!" Henry called out to her. She quickly wiped away her tears and smiled.
"Coming!"
