From the moment he was born, and the moment he realised he was reborn into a fantasy world, from the time decided to aim for the goal of immortality, till now, the moment of his death, all of those scenes overlaped in his brain, it was like he was re–living every moment of his past all at once, almost like all the past versions of him intersected with him right now trying to give him a solution to his current predicament
Most people say at their moment of death, when their life flashed before their eyes they felt oddly calm and peaceful, But for Sol this was not the case at all, The influx of two life's worth of memories, all in the span of a seconds caused excruciating pain to him.
So much so that his head exploded, literally a popping sound could be heard inside his brain, it was as if the flow of memories inflated his head like a balloon and the popping sound was his head giving in.
After the explosion in his head , sol started to feel sharp migraines travelling through his skull and into his eyes.
Sol hissed and flung open his eyes.
"That was close. I almost fell unconscious there, good thing this migraine sobered me up." He rejoiced breifly before quickly going back to sensing his life force, Afterall who knew how long this mysterious migraine would last.
Sol went back to sensing his life force, but unlike the last time he kept his eyes open to keep his consciousness clear and sharp.
Sol, wide-eyed focused intensely on the space around him, that was were his supposed life force was leaking out to.
But despite that he couldn't see anything there, if it weren't for the loss of strength he felt every second, the thought of Maruim lying to him would have crossed his mind.
As Sol continued to stare wide-eyed at the surface of his skin hoping to see Life force,
He started having hallucinations, short flashes of memory that intersected with his vision at short intervals.
They showed short flashes of him in different periods of his life, from young to old, from sick to healthy, from tired to energetic. The sensation of all the various states of his body during his life made him realise a profound truth,
He didn't need to focus his mind on sensing some mystical force seeping outside his body because …
Vitality was not an energy.
Vitality was simply the machinations of the body and how the body worked.
Everything in the body was vitality.
The rhythm of heart, that was vitality.
The inhalation and exhalation of the lungs, that was vitality.
The contraction of the muscles, that was all vitality.
That meant Sol has been looking in the wrong place all along, to take control of his vitality was to take control of the machinations of the body.
"So was that what Maruim meant by sensing life force? did he mean sensing how the body worked?" Sol wondered.
"Going by that logic, My vitality 'seeping' away is really just the procedures of the body in chaos. So taking control of vitality was just really sensing how the body worked and restoring balance to it."
'But how? How do I restore balance to my body?' Sol asked himself rhetorically
"How? Maruim already said it previously, there were two ways of stopping the escape of vitality
1. Taking direct control of your vitality.
And
Number 2. Closing the pores of the body to prevent the leak of vitality."
The option Sol picked was easy to guess; he was in no way physically gifted nor did he have decades of experience so it was pretty obvious number one was his go to from the start.
Sol took a deep breath mentally before closing his eyes shutting down all outside stimuli, although closing his eyes would make it easier for his consciousness to fail, Sol was confident that with his refreshed understanding he could sense his vitality before sunrise and before his consciousness blurred.
Armed with that thought Sol looked and felt inside his body searching for anything that felt wrong or out of order.
And at first he didn't find anything, but after a while he started to see a vague outline of his body.
Then it became clearer and clearer until he was able to vividly see every part of his body from head to toe.
The strange vision made him feel like he was watching himself in third person, save for the part where he could see under his skin.
'It's like Astral projection.'
Back in Sol's original home there was a myth of Astral projection; the state of being able to separate the soul and the body and wander the heavens freely. But Sol had tried multiple times in his past life to Astral Project and never once did he succeed in it, so that caused him to eventually think of it as a myth.
"But to think something that mystical exists, This world might be more fantasical than I thought, and my goal of immortality might not be a hopeless endeavour." Said Sol amazed at the possibilities this world had.
'But all this will be impossible if I don't survive,' Sol kept that thought silently in his mind before immersing his consciousness into his body.
The inside of his body seemed to be working as well as it should be, his heart was pumping, his lungs were hale and healthy, his bones still produced the normal amount of blood for a normal person.
But for some reason his heart was beating slower and the energy produced by his body was reducing.
It was as if there was a hole somewhere in his body that expelled all this energy.
"This kind of reminds me of Einstein's talk about entropy, what was it again? I think it went somewhat like this; ' the working parts of a system can never be sustained infinitely for energy would be lost through one way or another, whether by friction, sound or even the wear and tear of the system'
This means it was impossible for anyone to become immortal because the human body would lose energy in one way or another.
Even If I stop the escape of my life force eventually I would still die."
Sigh~
Sol sighed in melancholy.
"I hope in this world it's different."
