A group of large phoenix birds were flying high above the wall out of range of normal spells during the war. They would then rain down fire using their breath killing and injuring everyone whether foe or ally. This group was responsible for the most casualties and damages. We had managed to capture one of them who foolishly approached us. I did feel bad about losing my spear but the tradeoff was more than acceptable. I had also turned my membrane from metal to rock as a precaution once the heat based attacks increased. The phoenix laid on the ground unconscious and was tightly bound with chains and the beak was muzzled. It was a bird that was 5 meters long with a wing span of almost triple that. It was dragged far away from the front lines and its broken wing repaired. I had a difficult time convincing the other dark mages to heal it because of the grief they had suffered because of it. I then explained it to them that I had the ability to communicate with birds and I was going to extract information from it. A few hours later just before nightfall it woke up. "You, listen here I am going to ask you questions and you will answer them. Why did you attack us?" I said. "Huuman Chiild. You dare harm me?" The bird thundered. Apparently it could open its mouth to talk. The metallic chains covering its beak and body snapped like a piece of thread. This is bad, I was right in front of it. The bird stood up and flapped its wings and most people around the bird fell back due to the force. I took a spear from a nearby soldier and shouted. "Answer my question because by the gods this spear will not miss. Why did you attack us?" I asked again. Now every soldier was alert and ready to attack it in a moment's notice. I was maybe 5 meters away from the phoenix with the spear in throwing position. I was ready for any outcome, my stone membrane and barriers covered my body. "Foolish insignificant insects I do as my master the emperor dragon wills it. Now you can join your deceased brethren." The phoenix said as it tilted its head backwards. BOOM. I threw my spear at its head without waiting for its attack. The headless corpse fell to the ground. It was over in an instant. I went over to the corpse and touched it to ensure that it was truly dead.
[You have acquired the phoenix eye. This allows you to analyze and assess targets' features and strengths. Your physical strength has increased by 50% value is now at 360
Your speed increased by 20% value is now 240
Napalm bomb a type of fire magic has been unlocked.]
[Both species are inferior to you.]
[After acquiring the phoenix eye. A figure was set to allow easy comparison of strength between you and your targets.] "Did you get any information from it?" The fire Talon who was nearby asked. "Yes apparently they were ordered by their master the emperor dragon to attack us." I answered. "That was all it was willing to say on the subject before it tried to kill us." I added. The emperor dragon was from a race of dragons that had a lifespan of approximately five millennia and were known to be the strongest creatures on the island. They were once the rulers of the Island of Despair according to stories passed down through various generations. They displayed a high level of intelligence and had a patriarchal society where the strongest male dragon was the leader. They lived in caves found high in the mountains. "An emperor dragon? That is a very dangerous creature." Zora, the aide of the fire Talon added. Plans were revised to take into consideration all that had happened on this day. The earth mages spent the entire night making fortifications that would protect against overhead bombardments while providing a space to launch the various attack spells at the enemy. They served the same purpose as bunkers. We the dark mages spent a lot of the time healing the various injuries until our mana ran out. I slept pretty late at night after I did all I could to try and rescue the wounded. Further changes would be announced in the morning once the discussions were complete. I chose to skip this discussions and went to bed after exhausting my body and mana supply."Report! Report! The second wall has fallen." A voice was heard screaming. What do you mean the second wall has fallen? We are still here trying to prevent that from happening. I got ready immediately and got out of the tent to hear the report. The soldier reporting on horseback finally explained the situation to us after some probing. He explained that some wyverns flew south through the ocean completely bypassing the old wall and attacked the second wall. Numerous casualties were reported and the wall was completely destroyed. "We really are not catching a break are we?" A lieutenant murmured. I could relate with his statement. It was early hours of the morning and the sun had not risen. i stood outside listening to the various soldiers bitterly lamenting. "Sir, the Fire Talon requests for your presence." Zora, the aide to the fire Talon said to me. I arrived there and met with senior commanders already present. Their faces were stoic showing no signs of emotions. I was asked to deal with flying threats because they received reports on how effective my spear throwing was. I had taken out a flying phoenix that was far beyond the reach of normal spells. Thus my healing duties were put on hold because with the reinforcement structures, casualties were going to be kept at a minimum. Others changes were introduced such as having tunnels all along the battlefield where retreat was possible if things got too difficult. The meeting came to a close and a lieutenant was assigned to me with a carriage full of spears. I climbed the stairs up the wall and had various soldiers help in carrying the different spears up with me. I am doing various body stretches while looking at the large horde of monsters.
[Yes. Provided you reinforce the spear with a barrier to protect it from the heat.]
I started practicing the skill in a limited fashion. The skill was equivalent to a dragon's fire breath from my hand. The range of the skill was longer than any other fire magic I had observed to this point. The fire mages normally cast a fire ball at their target but napalm bomb was a continuous violent and large stream of fire from my arm to the target. According to the morning's meeting, we were going to conduct the first strike against the monsters. This would be done to catch them off guard hence gain an advantage over them. The Talons and various commanders were present with me on the wall. My spear was going to be signal that the war had started. After the soldiers were in position in their bunkers, I was given the green light to begin the assault. I took a spear from the lot, cast a barrier surrounding it and then started infusing it with fire and wind magic. A violent vortex of a blue flames formed at the tip of the spear. I took a deep breath and looked at the hoard which was at least a 100 meters away from the wall. With all the strength I could muster, I threw it in that direction. BOOOM. A violent sonic boom was heard. It was louder than any before it perhaps because of my increase in strength and speed. The various equipment near me shook violently, dust covered the whole area and for a minute I was unable to see whether I had missed or hit my target. However that was soon confirmed when a thunderous explosion was heard in the direction I had thrown my spear. A shockwave was observed as the branches and leaves of the trees shook violently. After a few minutes, the dust storm had cleared. The hoard of the monsters had been reduced by 90%. Only those that were far away from the point of impact were spared. Only a crater was left at the point of impact. [Your physical strength has increased by 1000% the value is now 3600
Speed has increased by 500% the value is now at 1200
You have also gained sufficient strength to unlock body transformation skill.]
[All the other unlocked skills are under the umbrella of Body transformation skill.]
Our internal conversation was abruptly interrupted. "That is ridiculous, the horde had at least a hundred thousand monsters. All of them gone in an instant. " Zora said. "Indeed, if we had taken this approach perhaps we could have not lost so many soldiers." The Fire Talon added. "If the White Eagle does this along the wall, I think there is a chance we may win this battle." Another commander added. Most of those present nodded in agreement. The 10% of the remaining monsters fled back to the forest. I was not going to throw another spear because my strength had increased by 10 times. Increase in physical strength also increased the amount of mana you could manipulate. A clear example is where there is a clear difference in the intensity of a fire ball cast between a soldier and that of a civilian despite sharing the same ratios. When I asked my companion to quantify my maximum mana reserves, a figure of 6350 was given. When I used my phoenix eye to observe other soldiers, the figure ranged from 500 to 1200. I then turned my attention towards the fire Talon and his group. The fire Talon had a value of 2,500 which was impressive but something was wrong. Zora's mana reserves figure read 260, 000. I took a spear and readied it while looking at Zora. "Who are you?" I asked in a serious tone. "What are you doing?" The fire Talon asked. I stared at Zora's eyes without blinking. He looked back at me with a stoic face then started smiling. It was a creepy smile that sent shivers down my spine but I did not show it. "As expected of the White Eagle. It seems you are sharper than the three of your predecessors." Zora answered. "It was interesting to learn about your culture for the past 500 years but now my brother wants all humans back under his rule." Zora added. He then crouched on the ground and jumped high up in the air. He then transformed to a black dragon. Everybody around was too shocked to move. I instinctively threw my spear imbued with fire and wind magic asi had done before. I drew strength from all the fibers of my being. The spear did not even reach the dragon. A spherical transparent barrier protected it. Even with my level of strength increased by ten times. It was all useless against this dragon. "Do try and get stronger White Eagle. Soon under my elder brother's command, my family will take to the battlefield for the first time in a millennia." Zora said as he flew away.
