Chapter 8 - A New Powerhouse

Once Azazel got his tools ready, he stuck a needle in Jack's main vein and hooked him up to a device set to draw exactly two bags or pints of blood. While his blood was drained out of him, he turned to Azazel as he was curious about something.

"What do you think the Devils think of my existence? They may believe I am your son when I become a Seraph-ranked Fallen Angel."

Azazel noted that Jack said when, not if as he was confident in his talent. However, he didn't put it to mind as it was good he was confident. Sacred Gears evolved based on belief and you improved more when you were motivated.

"The Four New peaceful Satans wouldn't pose a danger to you as long as you don't go causing them trouble. They are in charge of the Moderate Faction which strives for peace. The Old Satan Faction may try to eliminate you as a danger since you are a Fallen Angel and now part of Grigori.

They want war with Heaven, Grigori, and the Hero Clan. Devils just like every other race are not a monolith so there are many ways that conversation could go. My advice is to not stir up trouble as my long-term goal is peace among Grigori, Devils, Heaven, and the Hero Clan."

Jack nodded.

"You don't need to worry about me starting a War, though if one starts I am going to fight on the front lines. I'd rather earn my keep after all in this dangerous world."

"Good mentality to have. I am sure you will go places. If you do become a Seraph, with a Sacred Gear on the level of a Longinus and one of my own, I can see you matching up to the powerhouses of this world. Maybe even Jin Tojou the War God."

Azazel throughout this talk had already filled one blood bag, so he hooked up the second to drain a second pint of blood. Taking note of this, Jack asked about him.

"Who is Jin?"

Azazel smiled.

"Jin Tojou is one of if not the strongest Hero born in this world. All over the world, there are Hero Clans where they raise heroes to combat the Supernatural. That being Devils, Fallen Angels, Yokai, Vampires, and Monsters in general. Jin was the greatest produced by the Japanese Hero Clan.

He was so strong that he even fought Saphire Gremory, the sister of Wilbert Gremory and Zeoticus Gremory. Wilbert was considered one of the strongest Devils ever born before he died. His sister was no slouch either, and Jin fought her to a standstill as a human."

Jack was already interested.

"How strong was Wilbert?"

Azazel thought about it.

"Definitely above Ultimate Class. The ranking system above Ultimate is tricky so we just group them as transcendent. Wilbert for all his power sought peace between Heaven, Grigori, and the Hero Clan. He wasn't one of the Satans as he sought to keep the peace between the Old Satan Faction and the New Satan Faction.

I knew him as an honorable good man, shame what happened to him honestly."

As he said Azazel removed the second blood bag.

"There we are, two pints of blood removed, ready for your transfusion of my blood?"

Jack nodded.

"Go ahead."

Azazel attached one of the bags filled with his blood to give Jack a blood transfusion of his Seraph blood. While this happened, Jack wanted to hear more.

"And Saphire? What happened to her?"

"Labeled MIA which caused huge stirs in the Underworld. With Wilbert and Saphire the powerhouses of house Gremory gone, the standing Lord of Gremory Zeoticus is far, far weaker than his older siblings.

Only the strength of Sirzechs, one of the three Super Devils even stronger than his aunt and uncle, keeps House Gremory's status afloat. It is a whole political shit show right now, as House Phenex is taking advantage of the loss of Wilbert.

They play both sides the Old and New Satan Faction with their Phoenix Tears. To guarantee their continued support of the Moderate Faction, they wanted some assurance and House Gremory needed the support without their two strongest members.

Lord Phenex wants a marriage with the Gremory heiress, who is the daughter of Zeoticus. There is also Mio Gremory, daughter of Wilbert, but she isn't the heiress so Rias was chosen."

Throughout all this conversation, Jack looked at his right arm. As Azazel's blood entered his bloodstream, he began to feel the potent holy energy flowing through it. Even more so was the sheer vitality of a Seraph flowing through him.

He took a deep breath as Azazel hooked up the second bag.

"Keep focused, ask more questions."

Jack's forehead was starting to get covered with sweat.

"What else happened in WW2?"

"After the bombings of Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, the strongest Hero Vasto Strado fought Kokabiel one of my friends in the ruins of Hiroshima. The battle was more devastating than the nuke. Vasto was the former wielder of the Holy Sword Durandal and the strongest hero before the birth of Jin.

While Vasto fought and nearly killed Kokabiel, The Father of Jin Tojou, Isamu Tojou was no slouch either and he went with Vasto to get a kill off on a member of Grigori. Baraqiel went to save Kokabiel and he fought Isamu Tojou who was the poseer of Incenerate Anthem.

The fighting got so dangerous that the Shinto Gods descended to force a ceasefire. That almost caused a second Great War, but luckily things calmed down after that."

By the time he finished the second blood bag of Azazel's blood was now in Jack's bloodstream. Azazel couldn't do anything else here, as it was up to Jack now. Jack stood up from the chair and sat on the floor in a lotus position as he began to circulate his mana through his body.

The much stronger cells of Azazel's Seraph blood were causing havoc in his body. He couldn't allow that, so after focusing, he caused his heart to speed up to pump his blood faster.

This caused the blood he got transfused with to spread out through out his body. While it did so, he began to use his control over his own internal body and magic to force it to comply.

Azazel was curious as this could prove fatal if Jack couldn't cause his blood to submit. However, he did have faith in Jack who seemed quite competent in what he was doing.

Instead, he turned over to Amara who was licking her paws.

'A cat with a Sacred Gear?'

He leaned in closer to look at the fluffy animal who looked back at him. He saw thought in those eyes which made him start to think about the idea more and more. He walked away and looked at his Sacred Gears if any would suit her.

As Azazel was browsing, Jack was starting to make progress. At that moment his heart was beating like an engine and it caused Jack's blood to fully mix with Azazel's. As a result, slowly, but surely Fallen Angel genes inside Jack's body began to absorb Azazel's power.

He didn't allow a single spec of power to escape his hold and it started to cause his body to glow brightly as an intense amount of Light Magic was flowing through him. When he opened his eyes they were bright white and with a roar an explosion of light erupted from him.

It didn't cause damage to Azazel's lab, it just flash-banged him. Amara covered her eyes with her tail so she was fine from the light show. When the light dispersed, Jack stood up and from his back emerged three much larger pairs of Fallen Angel wings.

By assimilating the more potent genes and power in Azazel's blood his genes adapted and pushed him to the next stage. By growing his third set of wings, he could feel his body growing stronger, his magic increasing substantially, and his soul growing in potency.

"Phew, that was rough."

Azazel nodded while rubbing his eyes.

"I can see that, not."

Jack chuckled while retracting his wings.

"Sorry about that, you are really strong and just two blood bags had that much energy still in it. It had to go somewhere."

Azazel opened his eyes which were still flickering with light.

"Guess I am. Now, you have three pairs of wings meaning you are halfway to the top of the Fallen Angel ranks. Of course, you could end up stopping at the Cadre rank, but no shame in that."

Jack just smiled.

"Why not Super Fallen Angel? You said Super Devil, so why not Super Fallen Angel? Racial endpoints be damned."

Azazel smiled as he already felt that Jack was one of the best young people he had ever found.

"You know what, I will hold you to that. Become something above a Seraph if you can."

"Watch me. But I recommend we wait on that Sacred Gear, I think I need some time for my mana, body, and soul to stabilize."

Azazel understood that.

"Reasonable, let's wait a week for your condition to stabilize. Here."

Azazel reached into his pocket and pulled out a magical smartphone. It wasn't a flip phone or anything, but a super advanced smartphone.

"This will serve as a phone and you can communicate with me or anyone else who has one. I will share your contact with my friends so you can talk to them. As I said, watch out for Kokabiel and Satanael, or don't and maybe they won't try to end you."

After handing the phone to Jack, Azazel sat himself down.

"You should probably get back home. You did skip school after all."

Jack waved him off.

"I will just brainwash my teachers to say that I was there, but you are right. Thank you for everything Azazel, and I will keep in touch."

Amara ran over and jumped into his arms so he teleported them both back to Tokyo. When Jack was gone, Azazel smiled to himself as he found a good prospect for Grigori. New talent was always welcome and even better was that he was a Fallen Angel.

None of the limits that plagued humans with Sacred Gears would apply to him. Even better was that he had a never-before-seen Sacred Gear containing one of the Evil Dragons on the level of a Heavenly Dragon.

He already wanted to learn more about it so he was expecting a lot from Jack.

---

As for Jack, when he made it to school, the first thing he did was brainwash the teachers with magic so they noted him as present. Once he dealt with his studies, he spent the rest of the day mostly meditating while relying on brainwashing magic to stabilize his condition.

When he made it home, he made sure to simply relax to allow his body to balance itself out. Apophis liked this as the stronger he got, the more stable his soulscape became. Plus, the stronger he became the more she respected him as Dragons only respected the strong.

The next day Azazel gave him a phone call as he wanted to make sure he was ok, but Jack was better than ok. He was full of energy and strength, but he was still receiving passive strength gains as he came into the full strength of his new Fallen Angel Rank.

For the next week, he gave Azazel reports on his condition as his strength stopped increasing after seven days. His bloodline, mana, and soul had stabilized themselves so he could return to his extreme training which he missed.

The main thing was that since he had adapted to his advancement, he could receive his Second Sacred Gear, Procellarum Phantom which would make his fast-paced combat style even faster. Stacking the power with the Boosts that Apophis and his Fallen Angel speed, he would be moving like a speedster.

To get the procedure done, seven days after meeting Azazel, Jack teleported to Grigori since he was ready. As for Azazel, over the last week, he had used the blood that he had taken from Jack to make Procellarum Phantom more intuned to his genetics.

When Jack came to receive the Artificial Sacred Gear, he saw that Azazel was not alone in his lab. One was a tall bearded man and with him was a more refined-looking Fallen Angel.

Azazel smiled as he introduced everyone.

"Jack, these are my brothers and friends. Baraqiel and Shemhazai. Two Cadre of Grigori. Shemhazai will help me in the procedure to implant Procellarum Phantom, but Baraqiel will be your main tutor in combat.

Of course, I think you could get along with Armaros our Anti Magic expert, but Baraqiel is the strongest individually, and a good friend."

Jack walked toward the two Fallen before shaking their hands.

"I am Jack Owens, you can consider me a reincarnated Fallen Angel in a sense."

Baraqiel shook his hand firmly.

"Azazel told us about you, welcome to Grigori."

When he shook Shemhazai's hand the Fallen smiled politely.

"Nice to meet you, Jack. I and Azazel have been working on Procellarum Phantom for the past week to make it attune with your blood. I think it might even change and adapt over time. Since it is a Prototype, it may not be as perfect as a regular Sacred Gear."

"That is fine, I trust Azazel's intelligence and Grigori's creations. Let's get this started."

(Procellarum Phantom in the Light Novel was given to one of Sona's Pawns. Later on, it gained Time-based temporal abilities allowing the user to perceive others in slow motion. It allowed Ruruko Nimura to react to Kiba's God Speed and Issei's Cardinal Crimson Premotion. I call BS though.)
