Chapter 20 - Ch 20: Test Subjects

The shop from where Li Feng had gathered his information last time was located in a prominent corner of the market. Even though the owner of this shop did not have very high cultivation levels, Li Feng had heard rumours that he was related to an inner sect disciple in some way. So almost no one wanted to get on his bad side.

The cultivation level that Li Feng was displaying was enough for any shops to give him preferential treatment and this shop was not any different. Last time he bought only a few minor things from here using his limited sect contribution points. Even though he had not paid much, the shopkeeper still remembered him as buying something in this market with contribution points was very rare.

After seeing that this high level individual was coming to his shop again, he himself came out to welcome him. Li Feng acknowledged him in a disinterested way and told him that he had a good business opportunity for the shopkeeper. This made Han Tuo, the disciples managing this shop to become interested and he welcomed Li Feng to a private room.

Li Feng had a very good idea about the value of the item that he had brought and he was sure that this disciple would not be able to control his greed after seeing them. Li Feng wanted to secure some funds from this transaction but that was only one of his objectives. He was also planning many other things at the same time.

Just as Li Feng had expected, Han Tuo was unable to hold himself back after seeing the high grade blood beans. These things were extremely useful not only for his business but also for maintaining his relationship with the disciple from the inner sect. So he did not bargain much with Li Feng and bought all of them for quite a high price.

Li Feng had also not asked for a sky high price for these beans. After doing some good research, the price that he came up with was just slightly higher than the inner sect market. But one had to know that most of the outer sect disciples did not have access to that market.

The shopkeeper was very happy with the deal. The quality of these blood beans were really exceptionally high and even in the inner sect market, these would not be a common item. So he did not regret one bit for spending some extra money. But still he was interested about where this person had managed to acquire these beans and decided to keep an eye on him.

...

After coming out of that shop, Li Feng soon found a few people following him. This was exactly the outcome he wanted and he became happy after his plan was a success. He silently left the market and noticed that the people who were following him were still keeping up with him. That was perfect for him so Li Feng quickly sent a telepathic message to Yue and asked her to wait in a certain place.

Even inside of the Blood Sea sect, there were quite a few areas that the disciples did not visit much. Li Feng came to know about these areas from various rumours and by listening to many disciples and he had checked some of them out after his job in the beast taming hall was done.

He had only checked the areas which were relatively safe and had fortunately managed to find some spots which were quite hidden from most of the sect disciples. So the place where Li Feng asked Yue to go was one such hidden areas.

There were many spiritual herb cultivation fields in the outer sect and there were also quite a few herb fields that were abandoned for various reasons. Li Feng brought the people who were spying on him to one such herb field.

The disciples who were following him were getting a bit worried after Li Feng came to such a remote area. Their cultivation levels were not very high so they were very scared that Li Feng would be able to sense them here. If they were caught by a 6th level Qi gathering cultivator, they would most definitely die.

But just as they started thinking about pulling out, suddenly their mind blanked out and they started to follow Li Feng obediently. They even entered a dilapidated house on their own alongside Li Feng. Their movements were fluid and no one would be able to guess that they were under someone else's control.

Inside that dilapidated house, a small white fox was standing with its pink eyes shining brightly. After seeing Li Feng, this cute little fox immediately jumped on him and Li Feng also accepted her in his arms swiftly. As for the three people who were following Li Feng, they were now standing in a corner of the house like mindless puppets.

The reason for their current state was Yue's "Phantom World". This was her inherent ability had she had awakened as a nine tailed fox with her first tail. She had been practicing this ability on her own for some time now but without someone to use it on, Yue was not very sure about how strong or weak this ability actually was.

That was the reason why Li Feng had brought these people here. They were now going to be guena pigs for Yue to test her abilities out. Li Feng was ready to kill these people if her Phantom World failed to mind control them but fortunately that was not the case.

Phantom World was not actually a mind controlling ability. The power to control weaker people's mind was actually just a byproduct of its main ability which was to create a world of illusion where the boundary between fiction and reality would become non-existent.

Obviously with her current cultivation level, Yue was not able to do such things. For the time being, she was only able to make her target to see various illusions and use those illusions to take over their mind. This also allowed her to control the memory of a person. This ability also allowed her to erase her presence from the world by making herself closer to illusion. So it was a very versatile ability.

But Yue needed to be cautious about various things while using this ability. She had tried to use it on Li Feng with his permission but had failed completely. Li Feng was completely immune to this even though their cultivation levels were almost the same as each other.

Yue also knew that people who had very powerful willpower were able to break free from her illusion. A person with stronger cultivation than her would also be able to resist her illusions without much trouble. So even though this ability was powerful, she could not blindly rely on it.

So now it was time for her to thoroughly check every aspect of this ability out with her test subjects.
