Chapter 23 - Ch 23: Sect Missions

After returning back to his home, Li Feng started to discuss about his possible mission choices with Yue. Yue was quite an intelligent person and having two brains to think about a problem was always better than having just one brain. After telling her about all the available missions for disciples who had just stared cultivation, he and her both found only five options to be worth considering.

There was one mission where a disciple needed to go to a mountain located at the back of the sect. In that mountain many valuable herbs could be found. No disciples were permitted to take those herbs for themselves but by submitting them to the alchemy hall, they would be able to earn some contribution points depending on the amount and quality of herbs they were able to find.

This mission did not pay any particular reward and everything depended on what a disciple would be able to find in the back mountain. If one could find a rare herb, they would be able to earn a lot but if a disciple's luck was bad and was not able to find anything, then that disciple had to return empty handed.

Rein was not worried about not finding anything as he was confident that he would definitely be able to find some herbs there with his luck. And even though there were some dangers larking in the back mountain, as it was located in the outer sect, those dangers should not pose a problem for him.

But Li Feng needed to at least have a basic knowledge about herbs if he wanted to take this mission and not get cheated. There was a book in the talent hall which was like an encyclopaedia for the flora of the world and he needed to study that book. It was an important book for both alchemists and herbalists. But Li Feng had not studied that book at all as he was busy with his array formation studies.

So for the time being, Li Feng decided to not take this mission. It was possible to just accept this and rely on the judgement of the alchemy guild to appraise the herbs he found but that was obviously a not a very good idea and he would definitely get scammed.

Yue was also busy with studying talisman arts as she found that to be interesting and Li Feng did not want her to learn something that she was not interested in. So this mission was rejected for those reasons.

...

The second mission that caught their eye was a mission given by the trading hall. This hall was responsible for handling both the intra and inter sect trading. This hall wanted to hire a few disciple to join the high level disciples for a negotiation with a different demonic sect called the "Grieving Soul Palace".

The trader hall always paid very well and to they were paying quite a good sum for this simple sounding mission too. Li Feng was also interested in learning more about other demonic sects to expand his knowledge.

But this mission had a lot of red flags. From what he had observed, any demonic sect disciples would be extremely ruthless and cruel. That was not unique to the Blood Sea sect. In that case, if the negotiations failed, there were a high chance that a battle would break out.

Rein did not know how powerful all the disciples present in the negotiation would be but still most them would most probably be in the foundation establishment realm.

In that regard, he was not scared of his safety as even if he could not defeat his enemies, with this Crimson Teleportation he could always run away. But that would expose his special abilities to the higher ups of the sect and Rein had no idea what would happen to him after that.

So he decided to put this mission on hold for the time being. He did not completely reject it as he was still interested in learning more about other sects.

...

Then the third mission that was quite well paying was a mission to excavate a spirit stone mine for a certain amount of time. This mine was located a few miles away from the sect and Li Feng needed to stay in the mine for certain amount of time to excavate it daily.

It sounded like a labour and that exactly what it was. But this was one of the rare missions that would take him out of the sect boundary. But obviously Li Feng would go out of the sect as an insignificant part of a large group and would not be allowed to go out of the mine, this was still a rare chance to learn more about the surroundings.

And Li Feng had also known that he would only need to work in the mines for five hours everyday and for the rest of the time, he would be able to cultivate in a private room. This five hours of work was still very tiring for a level 1 Qi gathering realm disciple who had very limited amount of spirit but for Rein it was not a problem. So this mission was definitely a good match for Rein.

But he did not immediately choose this mission as the remaining two were also not bad. So he wanted to make his final decision after properly going through all the missions.

...

While Li Feng and Yue were putting their brains together to find a perfect mission for Li Feng to accept, the blood clones that he created were also busy doing their jobs. The target the blood clones needed to observe was a girl named Tu Zhuting.

She had been in the sect for a few years and had managed to reach the mid stage of Qi gathering realm. She was not a disciple with top tier talent but her talent for cultivation was not bad either. There is a slight chance that she would be able to reach the foundation establishment realm in the future even though that chance was very small.

She was serious about her cultivation but cultivating all the time was not possible for most of the disciples. She was currently doing a mission to look after a herb garden for a certain period time in a day. So regularly she would leave her home in the morning to go to the herb garden.

So Li Feng's clones were observing her for this whole time and were remembering her habits and the route she took. This would be useful for the main body to make his plans in the future. So this plan of Li Feng was also coming along quite well.
