"SPLASH!!!" sounded the blood that dripped from Sonyeo's face. It was followed by an eerie silence. It splashed again and again and again, never seeming to stop. The stench of death had put its arms around him. He looked into the pitch darkness, hoping that someone could save him. He did not want to give up hope and kept believing that he would be liberated from this torture that he was subjected to.
The door clacked and creaked open. He saw people that he hadn't seen ever since he was kept here but one thing was common to all. They all wore a certain red flowing dress that reached their ankles and they covered their faces with a white cloth. Sonyeo saw them advance towards him and remove his chain. Happiness welled from his soul. Tears of joy fell from his eyes. They held his arms and dragged him through the door. He was taken through the long passageways until they reached a massive metallic door. Sonyeo thought that they were about to take him outside but he was thrown into a large hall of darkness. The lights were extremely dim but he could see bodies of children littered across the floor. The smell of blood assaulted his nostrils and the sight of rotting corpses caused him to vomit. He knew that at this point, all hope of being saved was gone. He crawled through the sea of dead bodies until he reached a spot that looked strange.
It was a hole in the ground. It was perfectly circular and upon peering into it, he could see it seemed endless, a bottomless pit. Sonyeo backed away from it and tried to leave that spot. Suddenly, something grabbed his leg. It felt like a human hand. He looked back and his eyes filled with horror. There was the sound of creaking bones. Sonyeon saw the eyes of the corpses shine a sinister green. He tried to remove his leg from the decaying hand but was held by another one. The dead rose to life and they advanced towards him. Sonyeo pulled his leg with extreme force and sprinted away. The room felt endless as he ran through it. Each step he took felt like he was further and further away from escaping this undead siege. One of them grabbed his hand. As he tried to pull out, another one took hold of his legs. He fell to the ground and was instantly overrun with hordes of dead humans. He felt his flesh being torn apart. He tried to scream but his throat had already been eaten by the zombies. His tears didn't stop the pain he was going through. In the midst of this, he heard something. The hall shuddered violently. Loud thuds could be heard. The growling sound of a wolf resounded throughout the room.
All the zombies suddenly stopped and got of Sonyeo. He held on to his last ember of life and looked up to see what caused the pain to stop. A dark smoke emanated from the hole. Something jumped out and landed on the ground, causing the earth below it to shake immensely. It walked towards him and he heard the sound of a seemingly smooth ribbon moving against the ground. He looked and saw what came out of the bottomless pit.
A massive wolf like beast stood before him. It seemed as large as an entire truck. It had an ashen grey coat that covered its body and its large teeth were as big as a human child. Its limbs were tied in a silk like ribbon but the beast showed no difficulty in moving. Its terrifying green eyes shone through the dark light and seemed to penetrate Sonyeo's soul. It had claws that looked extremely sharp. Sonyeo watch the monster encircle his nearly dead body. He thought he would be killed but a voice came forth from the wolf.
"Hello"
It sounded feminine but with a hint of darkness within. Sonyeo looked at the beast's mouth but it didn't make any sound. "Someone must be controlling this thing" he thought. He knew that he had to answer but he couldn't. His mouth had been torn to shreds and his tongue was ripped out violently from his mouth. All he knew was he had to reply. That was his ticket to leaving this place. He nodded his head at the beast.
"Up here"
He looked up to see a beautiful young lady sit atop the wolf. Her black hair flowed down her back. Her face looked as beautiful as the evening star. She was dressed in medieval battle armour. She slowly came down from the wolf and Sonyeo's eyes filled with another round of horror. Her lower half was covered in a transparent gown and he could see that she had rotting pieces of flesh covered bones for legs. Each step she took towards him sounded like the sounds of bones rattling together. Sonyeo tried to shift back but she was faster than a person whose arms and legs had been ripped apart.
"I don't think you're in the right position to run from me. You're this close to dying"
She knelt by him and touched his head. Her hands were human yet Sonyeo was still afraid of the half dead person that was with him right now. A dark light engulfed his body and his arms regrew at a frightening pace. His throat came back and his tongue regenerated extremely fast. Sonyeo was finally able to speak to the person in front of him.
"WHO ARE YOU?" he shouted in fear as he shifted backwards. "Is that the way to talk to someone that saved your life? Well, if you insist, I'm Hel. I'm the god of Nifheim and the god of the dead" the half human said. Sonyeo felt obligated to believe her words. She went towards the wolf and held its head. "This here is Fenrir. He's my brother"
Sonyeo was still afraid but he felt a scary sense of safety. He gulped hard and asked despite his shaking body. "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?" he asked. Hel looked at him and suddenly appeared in front of him. The boy tried to escape but couldn't move. "Say, how old are you?" she asked. He couldn't answer. His lips couldn't move. "Trust me, it'll do you a whole lot of good if you tell me your age" she said with her patience rapidly drying out. Sonyeo whispered "I'm ten"
"WHOA" she exclaimed. "Pretty good for a vessel" Hel turned to Fenrir and the wolf seemed very happy about that as its tail whipped around. She turned back to Sonyeo and held his hand. "I'll make sure you get to Valhalla. It won't hurt" she said as she ripped his arms out from his body.
"ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!"
She tore his legs away from him as he screamed in pain. "Fenrir, eat the bodies here. You'll need it" she said and watched the beast tear into the flesh of the dead corpses that littered the ground. She raised a piece of ice from the ground and stuck Sonyeo on it. "Please stop" he pleaded. A spike pierced through his heart, destroying it. Blood burst from his mouth and the gaping hole in his chest. He felt the life drain out of him.
"Are you done brother?"
The wolf ran to her with its lips dripping with human blood. She looked around and saw that the entire hall had been made clean. She patted the head of her brother and pierced her hand into his chest, bringing out a bright black heart. The ribbon immediately removed itself from Fenrir's body and floated in the air. She wrote something in the air. It glowed and looked like a rune. All time in the room stopped. From the breath of the dead boy to the pulsing blood that gushed from within the wolf, it all stopped.
"Fenrir, the eater of the sun and the destroyer of the cosmos. His upper jaw shall devour the sky and his lower jaw shall devour the earth. With this vessel, your full manifestation will be unleashed upon this reality and you shall fulfill your prophecy"
She struck the dark heart into Sonyeo's body and there was a sudden rush of power. The place seemed like it would explode but all the force that came forth blasted into Sonyeo's body. His body floated in the air and the ribbon took a hold of his hands and legs. Thick fur grew from his body and his appearance changed. He looked more and more like a wolf as the energy pulsed through his being. His eyes changed and had slit pupils. Everything stopped again and there was a massive explosion.
It ripped apart the entire room and killed every single person in a four mile radius. Something came floating down from the sky. It landed and a humanoid wolf stepped its feet on the ground. Its features were beastly but it looked like an adult male human. Its fur had reduced to only small patches on its arm and its fingers sprouted claws.
"This is weird"
Hel was overwhelmed with emotion. She ran towards him and hugged the person. "To think that my brother would ever get to be human" she cried. The human was Fenrir. He had used Sonyeo's body as a catalyst to become human. He held his sister in his arms. "Now do it. We need you to do what we were called here to do. I have no regrets" Hel said with certainty in her voice.
Fenrir sat on the ground as he munched on the head of his sister. He ate her bones with such relish you would think he had not just eaten millions of humans. He swallowed her skull and stood up. He looked at the crack in the sky.
"I guess that's my destination"
