"Lady Acantha," I was asleep when I heard someone calling that name.
I was too tired to wake up, but the light from the sun kept on bothering me. I tried to move my hand but I couldn't. My body was too painful to move.
"What makes the doctor so long? Do you think we should've moved the lady?" I heard someone say, and based on her tone, she seemed worried.
Why did my body still feel painful? Where was I again? Oh, right, I was riding in our car...
With that thought, I wake up, not minding the pain that I'm still feeling. Gosh, no... I still have my exams. I roam my eyes and see that I am in a different place.Â
"Lady Acantha! You're awake!" I was startled when someone shouted beside me.
"Lady Acantha is awake," I hear some people around me whisper.
"Lady Acantha, are you alright?" I was even more startled when someone touched me on my shoulder.
I heard everyone gasp as they saw my reactions.
"She's so done touching her," Lucille heard someone say as she could grasp pity in that voice.
I looked around and saw many people in their maid uniforms surrounding me. Where was I?
"Where am I?" I said, and I heard people gasp more.
"Oh, my goodness! The duke's going to kill us all, Hurry Beth, call the doctor!" I heard someone say, but I don't know who it was as I feel dizzy again.
------------------------
"Is my daughter alright?" I heard someone say. Since when did my father, who was so busy, have time for his daughter? Waitâit's not my father's voice.
I remember a while ago, when I woke up, I saw so many unfamiliar faces. Are they still trying to punk me?
"Can you tell me what happened to my daughter?" I heard the man ask someone.
"I-ahh, W-e". I heard someone stuttering as she was saying some words nervously.
"My Lord, according to the servants whom I asked, Lady Acantha was seen running to the forest when she suddenly fell into a hole."
Are they still acting like I was another person? Is it my cousin's prank on me? How can she stoop so low? I wonder if Grandpa was panicking now that they hadn't seen me at our home by now.
"How can there be a hole in our forest?" I heard the man speak again. There was so much authority in his voice that I could hear some gasping around me. I wanted to wake up, but I was not in the mood to go with my cousin's act. She might have hired some award-winning actors and actresses.
"My Lord, you were the one who made that hole when some monsters attacked the forest the other day, and we still haven't covered it since we were occupied with aiding those who were wounded during the attack," an unfamiliar voice said again as if he were doing his bestâacting.
I must commend that idiot for hiring these people. They seem to be all good actors, and even the extras are great.
"Duke Solaris, your daughter is fine, as I checked her mana," said the voice, which I presume is the doctor.
Duke Solaris? Isn't that the father of Acantha Solaris from the novel I'm reading? Wait a minuteâif I recall it correctly, those people called me Lady Acantha a while ago.
After realizing it, I got up and saw everyone was surprised when I did.
"Are you okay, Aki?" the man with pink hair asks me, his worries evident.
Damn, it! If I remember, the Duke in the novel "Save Me, My Darling!" was a ruthless man who didn't even care about his daughter, who was born in exchange for his wife's life.
Why am I in this novel? Did I die? Wait-? I was on my way to school to finish my exam when suddenly, a big truck bumped the car that I was riding in.
How can I be called a genius if I can't even notice that I've transmigrated into the novel? This is mad! Acantha Solaris is the future empress and the villain in the story "Save Me, My Darling.".
She was the daughter of the powerful duke Solaris, who was always on expeditions to fight monsters. Worse, she really had a bad temper. Now I understand why the servants trembled in fear a while ago when they asked me whether I was fine or not.
Damn, I should gather some information about the current timeline. If I want to live this lifetime longer than eighteen, then I should ignore all the main characters. I'm not dumb trying to get back at my life knowing I already died; I do remember some of the things before I went here.
My cousin was probably laughing her ass as she succeeded in killing me. That idiot who will do everything just to get what she wants; little did she know that grandpa already passed the ownership to me, and I put a will that if ever something happened to me, it would be donated to the charity.
"I'm fine," I finally said as I found my voice to speak.
"Are you sure you're fine?" said the duke as he looked around my face to see if I was okay or not.
This is odd; my father in my world, who was also as old as him, didn't show any care for me, not unless I would give something in return.
I was used to a father who only gave his attention to when I achieved something for the family and when he was surrounded by his colleague.
"This is what I told you when I asked you to always bring your knight's with you," the Duke said as he was looking at me with so many worries on his face.
"I already lost your mother, and I don't want to lose you too," he said while caressing my face this time, which made me startled at first.
Why didn't they mention this in the novel? From what I have read, the Duke seems not to give care to his only daughter and was always away to the border to protect the kingdom that caused Acantha's mischief, as she always wanted to get her father's attention, and later on will fall in love with the crown prince who saved her from a monster attack in Count Bello's party.
"Are you really sure my daughter is alright?". I got back to reality when I heard the Duke speak again.
"She was fine, my lord," the doctor said as he was a little bit shaking as the duke was looking at him.
"If she was fine, then why is she so quiet? This is so unusual of her," the duke continued as he pointed his finger at me.
"Ah, she just needs to rest, as we all know how fragile the lady's body is." The doctor was still trying to explain as he was looking at me.
The duke turned to me and smiled tenderly. "I guess we need to leave you here so you can rest," he said as he caressed my cheeks once again, and I nodded.
Even though I was awake, my body still felt tired and painful. I drifted to sleep when they were gone. Tomorrow I need to think of a plan, and the first thing I need to know is which chapter of the novel I am in, as all the incidents today are not there in the novel.
