Acantha arrived a little bit late at Lady Roy's tea party. When she arrived, she saw many women were already sitting at a long table and were happily eating and drinking their tea.
The women stopped laughing when they noticed that she was coming. Acantha looked at the table and she saw Noraya was also present at the party.
She saw that everyone who was there eyed her from head to toe, like it was odd that she was also present there.
"L-lady Acantha, y-you're h-here?". One lady asked me as she was stuttering, Seriously? Is that their hobby, to stutter?
"Why? Am I not invited?" I asked as I raised my brow's and saw everyone gasp, and they made faces like I did something terrible.
I heard everyone whisper as I asked, "Lady Acantha, you are here." Noraya was the one to break the silence as she looked at me and smiled sweetly.
"Why of course I am invited to this tea party, Lady Noraya," I said as I answered her with my sweetest smile.
I saw how her face turned dark just for a second and then she plastered a sweet smile on her face. Damn, I knew it from the beginning that there was something wrong with the novel and how the author portrayed the heroine. Now I was wondering what came to her mind about making Noraya the heroine when even in the novel she did so many mischievous things.
"I didn't mean to offend you, Lady Acantha I was just concerned that my presence would make you feel uncomfortable, " She said as she made a sad face.
Everyone went to comfort her, but I notice one girl who was just bowing her head, she was just looking at her plate as if it will disappear anytime.
And where is Lady Roys? Why is Noraya sitting on the hostess seat when it was supposed to be Lady Roys who should sit there?
"Lady Acantha, why are you always being rude to Lady Noraya when she forgives you for humiliating her the last time?" One of the ladies who was comforting Noraya said, as she was looking at me with a distasteful look.
"And who are you?" I asked, as I looked at her from head to toe, just what she did to me a while ago.
These people I was trying to be nice to, but their getting on my nerves. What I lack the most is my temper.
And why is she even crying now? I didn't even say a thing about her. And what did this lady mean that Noraya forgave me? I should be the one to forgive her, not the other way around.
"I'm Lilian Dorkinya," she said as she looked at me and I saw a hint of fear in her eyes as she was trying to look brave in front of me.
"Well, Lady Dorkinya. I wasn't being rude to Lady Noraya; I was just saying that Lady Evangeline Roys invited me to this tea party," I said as I flashed my smile at her.
Everyone looked at each other and nodded, agreeing to what I said.
"B-But-"
"Lady Lilian! Lady Acantha was right, and besides, there's nothing wrong with what she said a while ago."
Lady Dorkinya wasn't able to finish her sentence when someone stood up in my defense. The woman agrees with what she said.
She went near at me and she guided me to sit near the lady who was just still listening to us while looking at her plate.
"Thank you, lady?" I said as I smiled at her.
"I'm Lady Dreanna Constrin," she said as we settled on our seat.
We continued having some of our tea, but I can sense the death glares that Noraya and her friends were sending in my direction.
"Lady Constrin, I was wondering where the hostess for this tea party is." I said as I roamed my eyes around, I've been here for a couple of hours and the hostess still hasn't arrived.
Lady Constrin didn't answer me but she looked beside me and pointed to the woman beside me. I was a bit surprised that this lady beside me was Lady Evangeline Roys.
But if she was the hostess, then why is she sitting heree instead of sitting where Noraya is?
I slightly lean near Lady Constrin to ask her, "Why is she sitting here instead of there?" I said as I pointed to the seat that Noraya was occupying.
Lady Constrin also leaned and whisper," Lady Noraya wanted to sit there and Lady Roys was still new to this kind of party, and besides everyone insisted that Lady Noraya should sit there as she was the crown prince's fiancée," Lady Constrin said as she was looking at where Noraya was, who was now smiling and laughing.
I straightened my back and I looked beside me. "Nice to mee you Lady Roys," I said as I smiled at her.
Lady Roys raises her head and she looks surprised. "I-I, are you talking to me?" She said it as shyly as she was stuttering.
I nodded at her and smiled again; she reminds me of my best friend when I was still Lucille, "N-nice to meet you too, Lady Acantha." She said again shyly as she blushed.
I talked to her and Lady Constrin the whole time and was still pissed at the thought that Noraya was using her position as the crown prince's fiancée to be the center of attention.
---------------------------------
Mildred was the one to welcome me when I went home that night; the tea party was terrible as it was like Noraya was the hostess of the party instead of Lady Roys, but I'm glad I met some new people aside from the maids here and Mildred, and oh, the knight last time, whom I didn't have the chance to get his name.
"Mildred, w—," I was about to ask but I stopped knowing that it was useless to ask for something I already knew, but I was still confused.
"What was it, my lady?" Mildred asked as she was combing my hair as I just finished my bath and was to go to sleep since I don't have any appetite to eat dinner, as I am so tired from the tea party.
"Nothing, I was just about to say I was glad to have you here with me," I said and I meant what I said.
In a world that I don't think would be possible and knew no one in here, no matter how smart I am, if the things here are different from what I know, it was still hard for me to be here.
Mildred just smiled at me through the mirror as she finished combing my hair.
She left after saying good night, and I was left here alone.
Maybe I should work on my temper if I want to avoid dying this life, and I should avoid retaliating Noraya and avoid her.
But I was already trying my best to avoid them but why it seems like everywhere I go she was always there, and it was like fate was telling me no matter how I avoid them and leave peacefully It will always end like what happened in the novel, no matter how changed I tried to make.
I sighed as I remembered that I still needed to face the crown prince when he came back. I fell asleep thinking about what would happen tomorrow.
