Ever got the feeling you are about to take the step that will change your life forever? It feels like you are about to jump into a void of endless darkness not knowing if it will lead to a new life or your death, unsure if any of your choices are right or wrong, unaware if your actions will lead to severe problems not only for yourself but also for those surrounding you, that is how I am currently feeling, just a step away from going inside UA.
"Izuku, believe in yourself." After putting her hand on my shoulder, my mom told me she wouldn't accompany me inside, but she stayed with me until now to ensure everything was safe.
" Thank you, mom." I looked at her, her smile giving me enough courage to turn back towards UA and start walking to the entrance, the feeling of the ground under my shoes giving me more and more courage and pride.
Waiting for me at the entrance were Yagi and Aizawa, they had seen the scene but decided not to comment about it, they must seen scenes like this hundreds of times so they weren't surprised.
" So? What is the first step?" I asked Aizawa with a smile, my body ready for anything.
" We will first track your current level, both from a physical and a mental point of view, follow me."
Yagi didn't speak, and he didn't even follow us, instead, he went in another direction after waving at me, so I followed Aizawa to what I recognized as the teacher's office, filled with small desks and some drawers, inside of it there were other teachers, most likely needed to test my current level of knowledge.
" Go sit there while I take a piece of paper," Aizawa said while pointing at a chair in the side of the room.
Thanks to my boosted perception I heard what some of the founder teachers were saying on the other side of the room.
" He is the kid? He looks scrawnier than I thought."
" That kid who might have the brightest smile I have ever seen in my life is supposed to be the next demon? Is Nezu seriously going to corrupt such an innocent being?"
" He looks cute."
" Nemuri, please contain yourself."
Aizawa finally approached me, a notebook and a pencil in his hand, he sat in front of me, and the questioning began.
" Let's start from your current knowledge level, what have you studied by yourself until now?"
I opened my status and began telling all of the intelligence-related skills I had unlocked during these months.
" Aside from these I also know how to do portraits in case I ever need to do them, I know most of the basics on how to investigate even though I have no experience, I have some experience in martial arts, some of them though I just picked up, and even though it might not seem like it I am quite good at convincing others of what I am saying."
Aizawa stayed silent all of the people in the room did, he continued looking at the list of things I had told him, wondering if I just wanted to boast or if what I was saying was the truth.
" I will have to test all of the things you just said here, are you aware of that?"
"Of course, I know that all of the things I said might sound over the top for someone like me, but I have trained more than others, and I am sure of my skills." And of my status screen.
He nodded, leaving the chair and making a blonde man, wearing all leather clothes sit where he previously was.
" Hello, Young Listener, I am-"
" You are Present Mic, your quirk makes you able to amplify your voice, and considering how you are also a worldwide known singer, and podcaster, you are either going to test my literature skills or language skills, but you are also a well-known polyglot because you sang most of your songs in several different languages, so you must be a teacher for English, am I right?"
His eyes opened up, shaped like a watermelon and his mouth big enough to fit a soccer ball.
After he got his composure back he began speaking again, " Yes, *Where would you like to start?*" He said in fluent English (** means in a different language)
"* Since you are already talking in English I think it would the best to start from there, Huòzhě wǒmen kěyǐ gǎi yòng yīngyǔ huò èyǔ(or we could shift to English or Russian).*"
He ignored the sudden shift to Chinese and began asking questions about my dislikes and likes, my hobbies, and my future dream, every so often shifting to another language without any warning, of course, he only used the languages I knew, otherwise, it would have been unfair, there were occasions where I had to stop to translate what he was saying, but aside for those moments it went smoothly.
" Well young listener, it feels refreshing to meet another person interested in the beauty of foreign languages, I hope to help you refine your skill from now on." He said this while smiling and getting up from his seat, leaving his place for who I recognized being Ectoplasm, who I discovered to be my teacher for mathematics, biology, physics, and chemistry.
What followed were the most mind-numbing 15 minutes of my life, his questions were precise to the thousandth, and he would make me notice if I made an error even of 0.001, but I was able to answer all of his questions, the biology ones taking the most time since there weren't any type of calculations and he had the possibility of broader questions.
"... You didn't ask for a calculator," Ectoplasm told me after checking the sheet he had given me with the questions.
" I could ask for one? I thought I had to do everything in my mind."
Ectoplasm didn't say anything as he stood up, still looking at the paper with answers, leaving the chair for the next teacher, Cementos.
" What is the last book you have read that didn't contain any pictures, and that didn't necessarily speak about heroes from a worshipping point of view."
" Arkanov Muztch, The bad side of any hero."
"... You know that is considered an illegal book in Japan?"
"It is? I just stumbled on it online on the quirk analysis website, quite a mind-opening book."
" I agree, what did you think of it, of his view about heroes and the current state of hero society."
" Even though his book has good points and proofs of his statements, I still disagree with his pessimistic point of view about heroes and hero society in general."
" Are you aware why he wrote that book?"
" To show the world how a hero had raped his wife and then killed her, only for his position in the society to leave scot-free, explaining how that hadn't been the first time, and something like that had happened hundreds of times all over the world, he is a scream to make everyone wake, and understand that no matter our view of heroes, they are not gods from human desires."
" And you still think he is wrong? Why?"
" Would you kill a group of puppies because one of them hurt someone?"
" Are you comparing human lives to the lives of animals?"
" What are we if not animals but with more basic instincts? We eat, we desire, and we die, but this is not the point, my point is that no matter how bad the world is, the problem is not it, but the people living in it, only because society has some bad apples you don't have to cut the whole tree down."
" You are saying that for just a few apples you would leave a poisoned tree standing?"
" Sometimes just a single good apple can do more good than a whole tree, I am a proof of such theory."
" Aren't you boasting at this point?"
"No, I am not, as Nezu and Aizawa are aware, I obtained my quirk just 10 months ago, and began training by cleaning up Takoba Beach by myself, for 9 months I spent every single day training, bringing trash to the beach to the landfill 5 km away, by myself, something that could have been done by heroes in minutes I have done by myself in 9 months, I did it slowly? Yes, but now the people living there are much safer than they were before."
Cementos stayed silent, looking right at my eyes, the stare contest continued for a minute, but then he gave up sighed and smirked at the same time and left without saying a word.
The last one to arrive was someone I didn't think I would meet, mostly because we are in a school full of horny teenagers and I wouldn't be surprised if she would make some of them have a booner, the R18 hero Midnight.
" Well, you surely aren't holding back dear Midoriya." She didn't even sit down, instead, she approached me and leaned down in front of my face, staring at my eyes, expecting a reaction out of me.
' I would like to thank God for giving me enough willpower to not have a boner.' I thought while staring at Midnight.
"... Well aren't you an interesting one, my subject isn't exactly fundamental, but I heard you can draw. Do you have anything on you?" She asked, expecting a no as an answer.
"I do, it's a portrait I made of my mother, I decided to do it to bring it here since I might not see her for a while," I said while bringing the portrait out.
" Well aren't you so sweet-" She stopped mid-sentence when her eyes fell on the drawing.
She continued staring at it for a good minute, her breath becoming deeper, her eyes watering a little, her hands shaking for a second.
" You... You made this?" The previous teasing tone is now gone, leaving only actual curiosity.
" I wanted something that would make me feel at home, that's what I called it, home, because my home is where the people I love are."
She placed the drawing on the table, letting me put it in my inventory once again, while her hand started massaging her eyes, maybe she didn't like it? Was it so horrible?
"... After you finished today's test would like to draw me?" She genuinely asked.
" Are you sure? I thought you didn't like it."
" Are you serious kid? It isn't a masterpiece that is for sure, but it feels... full of love, it makes me remember the times with my mother, how she used to make me carry when I was sad, a painting must make someone feel something when seeing it, otherwise, it wouldn't be considerable as one, and yours made felt at home, so I didn't just like it, I loved it."
"Then yeah, sure I wouldn't mind drawing you, if you want also to be painted thought it might take some time."
" Don't worry, for now just focus on the tests."
After she was gone, I heard some whispers from the other side of the room, this time though they made sure to not be heard, so I didn't know how I was going and if I had surpassed the tests, maybe they expected more from me.
" Kid, its time for your physical exams, follow me."
I retained myself from asking how I was going and followed behind Aizawa, leaving the teachers whispering about me inside the room.
