Chapter 7 - Mombasa is peace

In the evening , I got home very early in order to prepare for my first day at work. All night I could not stop talking to my baby and telling him how happy I was to have gotten the job. His wee wee was a big reassurance he was happy for me.

Before I could forget, I gave Mr. Damon a call thanking him for everything. He said he would be in the city in the next few days and asked if he could see me. It would be an honour to have him visit us.

After the call with Mr. Damon, I scooted beside my baby and held him dearly onto me. As much as Prince had his own cot, I preferred sleeping with him. It was one way of enhancing our bond and showing him how much I loved him.

This baby was my everything. For a moment I stopped to think how life could have been with Brian among us. It had been over a year and he had no plans of showing up. It scared me that I still loved him. Despite Lana's attempt to get me to move on, Brian was still the one who occupied my heard.

Moreover, my baby was still very young to think of entering into the dating pool.

I smiled at the little bundle of joy beside me, pecked his forehead, and whispered night night to him.

"I love you," I told him.

Morning came with the excitement rocking in my girthes. A new sense of energy hugged me, signifying how beautiful the week was going to be. I was dancing from one part of the kitchen to another, while singing every hymn that elevated my mood. Having woken up very early, I had offered to prepare breakfast.

Lana was couched up in the living room with Prince, watching the morning news. When we were in Nairobi, we were in so much fear of watching the television or listening to any kind of news. The situation has changed since we arrived here. Lana who was often worried for me, felt more relaxed and happy.

My bodyguard too no longer had to worry about my safety. I had instructed him to prioritize my baby's wellbeing and that of Lana's. I could tell he was happy to be relieved of his duty of following me around.

"Breakfast is ready!" I announced.

All of them three, sauntered into the dining room. As their guest Chef, I meticulously served their meals and welcomed each into digging in.

Lana laughed so hard, commending me for being happy.

"It's the first time I'm seeing you very happy Miss," she said.

"Is it?"

I joked, bursting into a bubble of giggles.

My bodyguard also chipped in.

"Yes Ma'am. Today you're very happy. " He said.

" It's beautiful watching you like this ma'am. "

I smiled at them telling them to have their breakfast before it got cold.

The both laughed before digging into their meals.

Us three had become like a family. We've sticked together and navigated through everything as a team. Despite not related by blood, we've become so close, one would mistaken us as a family. Our relationship had transcended from that of a Boss and her employees.

After taking Prince into my arms to feed him, I handed him over to Lana to groom him. I realized time was going and I wouldn't want to be late for my first day.

Excusing myself to my room to get ready, I left my new found family gisting on in everything.

Indeed Mombasa was peaceful.

I arrived at the office quite early. I greeted Mr. Sebastian's secretary and proceeded to our office. On my way there, Sebastian had sent me a list of all his meetings and schedule, and asked me to oversee them. I was aware it was part of my work, but Sebastian was very considerate to remind me.

My first day with him went well. It wasn't as busy as I had envisioned. In between my breaks, I made a call home to inquire on the wellbeing of my baby. Lana assured Prince was fine and I had nothing to worry about. I had no doubt about it. Lana was very dedicated into giving his godson the best.

At around noon, my Boss asked me to join him in a meeting he was having at a neighbouring hotel. Most of his meetings happened in our hotel, except this one. As much as I wanted to pry, i was not in my position to.

I hoped into the car with my boss, and off we went to our meeting. Sebastian had asked me to stop calling him Boss and call him Seb, which I was yet to. Within 20 minutes of a drive, we arrived at the neighbouring town. We checked into one of their VIPs lounge which had a reserved table for four. They were the two of us, and two of our clients were yet to join us.

Seb and I, killed time by discussing a few matters regarding his business. All was going well, until he asked me to tell him about my life. In my interview, I had mentioned to him I was a single mom and assured him that my baby would not interfere with my work. I had told him a few things about me, and was not intending on telling him much.

While we were waiting for our clients, I narrated him lightly about my life. I skipped all the grimy parts of my past, and only revealed the recent occasions.

He asked who I lived with, I told him it was my nanny, bodyguard and my baby. Our conversation was cut short by a dark dressed figure that approached our table.

"Hey Bro," he greeted. The voice sounded familiar, making me raise my head to look at him.

It was Damon.

I wasn't surprised since he had recommended me. Although I was shocked at the mention of Bro. Was Damon, Sebastiás brother?

They both seemed to read my mind and said in unison, "No. We're not!"

I laughed at how funny they sounded. Damon greeted me, asking how my baby was and how Mombasa was taking me. I assured him everything was fine and even added how much I loved the place.

Amidst our gist, Sebastian asked about their other friend who was supposed to show up but didn't.

"He got held up and could only join us tonight for the party. " Damon replied.
