Chapter 8 - Lady

Lady was a mix of Dalmatian and Boxer. We acquired her from two girls at Crest, where a Dachshund puppy was also available, but we opted for Lady. Initially, she belonged to my grandmother; however, as my sister Rosa and I grew increasingly attached to her, Grandma decided to give her to us. This decision proved wise, as Baby was not pleased with Lady's arrival. Lady quickly formed a close bond with Bandit. We named her Lady after the female cocker spaniel from our beloved Disney film, Lady and the Tramp. One vivid memory I have is during a sleepover at Grandma's house, where my mother, Lady, and I shared a room that my mother had slept in as a child. Being young, I had an unfortunate accident, which I referred to as a "doo doo" incident, and it ended up getting all over Lady, who was sleeping between my legs. My mother was understandably upset, yet Lady continued to love me unconditionally. Lady was one of the sweetest dogs we ever had, but tragically, she was still a puppy when she fell victim to poisoning, which we believe was intentional. We never discovered who was responsible for this act. I often think of Lady and miss her dearly.
