Judy was a mix of Chow Chow and Rottweiler, belonging to my brother Michael. Born in 1993, she was not only Michael's loyal companion but also his protector. My mother recounted an incident from 1997 when Michael was six years old. They were in the backyard of my grandmother's house when the mailman approached the fence. He began commenting on Michael's hair and reached out to touch it. Before my mother could intervene, Judy charged at him, barking and snarling, and foaming at her mouth. My mother managed to seize Judy by the collar, causing the mailman to fall backward. He quickly apologized and never returned to deliver mail on my grandmother's street again. Judy was fluffy and exhibited a gentle demeanor towards me and my sister Rosa. One of my fondest memories of her is when I would bring her food, and she would leap with excitement. This is one of the few memories I cherish of her. In 2006, at the age of 13, Judy passed away, leaving us heartbroken. Michael discovered her that day, and it was one of the rare occasions I witnessed him in tears. We laid Judy to rest in the backyard, and Michael visited her grave daily until we relocated. I will forever remember Judy as Michael's dearest friend.
