Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"What are you saying Emily, why can't you tell him you are carrying his child?" Sam questioned me like my mother would. I already made up my mind that I was not going to tell Jack about it.

"I can't Sam. He doesn't want to have anything to do with me so what's the reason for telling him, besides, I'm not sure I'm going to carry this child." I said.

"Don't say that dear. We will go through this together. You don't need to end the life of the child only because of his father. Yes it was a one night stand that led to a mistake but taking out your anger on the child is uncalled for." Sam advised me quietly.

"I don't know what to do Sam." I sobbed on her shoulders.

"It's ok. It will be fine." She said rubbing my head.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Within the twinkle of an eye I was already in my three months with support from my best friend, Sam. It wasn't an easy experience especially because it was my first time as an expectant mother.

Waking up to pains and nauseous feelings which ended up with throwing up constantly. Sam was always there to take me to the hospital for my routine check-up.

My parents found out, though they were disappointed at first, they later became supportive. Mom would always come to my apartment with lots of fruits and food. Dad on the other hand drove me to the hospital seldomly.

It was already nine months since Jack and I had our one night stand. I was heavily pregnant at this point. My due date was fast approaching. One morning, I decided to go to the mall and get some groceries.

While picking some things, I suddenly saw Jack. I almost ran to meet him but I held myself. He was with a lady and they were both shopping. I felt so sad that I ran out crying and still in that moment, it started. My baby started kicking.

I tried holding myself but it wasn't working, I yelled out for help. I groaned in pain until I passed out.......

I woke up to the cry of a baby. I looked around and found out that I had been taken to the hospital. Sam was there smiling at me. "Congratulations dear." She said smiling.

"Is it a boy or a girl?" I asked looking at the baby.

"It's a boy Emily. You're a fuckin mom." She said excitedly. I smiled at myself for passing through this phase and coming out alive. I knew I was going to love him with everything I had.

 THREE YEARS LATER.

"Come on Max, stop playing around and come let's go to school." I said pursuing my already 3 year old son around the house. He has grown to look like his father so much. I already had something doing to keep us going.

Up till this moment, Jack doesn't know he has a son and I'm not planning on telling him. Sam has always been supportive by bringing gifts for Max and visiting us.

I quickly ran to him and grabbed him before he could run again. "Caught you!" I said playfully. He chuckled softly.

I got him ready and in no time, we were already on out way out. I took him to his school and headed to my new workplace. I now work in an event planning company. I got the job when Max was two years. It's already one year since I started working there.

As I walked into the office, I found out that someone was following me. I couldn't get the frame of the person but I knew it was a man. I continued and started work.

After work that day, I went to Max's school to pick him up. On our way back home, I noticed that person was still following us. I held Max tightly as we got into a taxi. I was nervous.

When we arrived home that day, I felt a little bit relieved. Sam also came to visit. I told her about the person who was following us. "Maybe it's one of these stalkers. Have you reported to the police?" Sam asked.

"Not yet." I told her.

"Let me do it." She said as she picked up her phone and called the police.

In less that 30 minutes, they were already at the door knocking. "I will get it." Sam said as she went to the door. The detective came in and asked us some questions to which we answered. He promised to come back and continue checking up on us.

"Hmmm....I'm so relieved now." I said sighing in relief.

Sam was one person that never wants to see harm come to me or my son Max. She has always been that way since our childhood. That's why I love her.

I watched as she played with Max in the living room. It was so good to have her around because she eased me some stress. I could focus on the chores. Suddenly my phone rang. "Hello Mom." I said.

"Hello dear. How are you guys doing?" She asked.

"We are fine mom." I replied smiling.

"Ok, we will be visiting tomorrow." She said.

"Ok mom. Can't wait to see you guys." I said excitedly before hanging up.

Sam later went back home that day since she was going for an interview the next day. I made sure Max was well tucked before going to bed. We sleep on the same bed so it wasn't that hard. As he slept, I stared at him. His face looked exactly like that of Jack. He was the carbon copy of Jack.

I was so happy that I decided to keep him. He has been my companion these past few years. I've never felt so good like this in years. I slept off still thinking about my son.

As it was a Saturday morning, I got ready to take Max out. I usually take him out on Saturdays since that was the only time I had with him throughout the week. "Mummy!!" He said as I wore him his clothes.

"Yes darling." I answered.

"Will you buy me some ice cream?" He asked in his small male voice.

"Of course baby. Mummy is going to buy you so many ice cream today that will fill your stomach." I said poking his stomach which made him giggle.

He leaned forward and kissed my forehead, just as my mom would. "I love you son." I said smiling.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. I excitedly ran to the door with the feeling of me meeting with mom's beautiful face until I was dismayed. In shock I staggered backwards looking at the face I never thought I would ever see again......

"Jack!!!".......
