The walls closed behind us, and I breathed a sigh of relief as I entered the safety of headquarters. However, the relief I felt was short-lived. As the soldiers tended to the wounded comrade and brought the other civilians to safety, I sensed the shadows of uncertainty surrounding me. *What will happen next?*
I watched as the soldiers dealt with the injured while I stood in a corner of the room. The reality of this world was not as friendly as I had hoped. I had fallen into a reality where lives were constantly at stake, and I wasn't sure how long I could survive in this world.
"Hey, Kael!" Jean called, approaching me. He still looked tense, but I could see a hint of recognition in his eyes. "You really fought well. I didn't think you had that much courage."
"Thanks," I replied, though I didn't feel entirely sure of myself. "I just tried to help."
"That's the most important thing," Jean said, patting me on the back. "But you have to be more careful. These Titans should not be underestimated."
I nodded, but fear gnawed at me inside. *What if I'm not so lucky next time?* The thought of failing during another Titan attack made me shiver. While I had helped, I had also put myself in great danger. *I'm not a fighter; I'm just a fan who ended up in another world.*
The leader approached us, looking serious. "We need to get the situation under control. The Titans could return at any moment, and we need to be ready."
"What about the wounded soldier?" I asked, pointing to the man who was still getting medical attention.
"He will survive," the leader replied, but his voice was tense. "But we don't have many fighters, and every loss counts."
Suddenly, it hit me how great the responsibility on these soldiers' shoulders was. *I didn't come here to cause them problems.* "I can help too," I said hastily. "I can provide information about the Titans that I know from the anime."
The leader looked at me skeptically. "That's all well and good, but it's not enough. You have no combat experience, and you can't just go into battle with us."
"I can learn!" I protested. "I can adapt. I've learned a lot about strategies!"
"Strategies are good, but they won't keep you safe when you're facing a Titan," he explained. "We need people who are willing to fight and die. And you're not a soldier."
"I can't just sit here and do nothing!" I shouted, unable to contain my frustration. "I want to help!"
The other soldiers looked at me, and I felt the distrust returning. *I'm here to make a difference, but I don't know how.*
"If you really want to help, you need to go through our training methods," the leader finally said. "That will help you learn the basics before you face the Titans."
"I'm ready!" I replied, feeling a spark of courage ignite within me. *If I want to stay here, I have to learn how to survive.*
The next days were a mix of intense training and a constant urge to learn more about the Titans and the people in this world. I was back in the role of a student, and the soldiers were my teachers. They showed me how to handle various weapons, how to think strategically, and how to use the environment to my advantage.
Every training session was a challenge, and I struggled to keep pace with the experienced soldiers. I had never worked with real weapons before, and the constant fear of encountering the Titans was overwhelming. Yet I was determined to give my best.
"Come on, Kael! Focus!" Jean shouted as I tried to climb a rope. I was struggling to find the right grip as I climbed. "You need to push harder if you want to survive!"
"I'm doing my best!" I gasped, fighting against exhaustion. *I can do this.*
After training, I sat on a bench to rest. The pain in my muscles was unbearable, but I knew I had to keep going. I couldn't let my insecurity hold me back. *I must be strong to survive.*
As I sat there, the leader approached me. "You're making progress, Kael. But you also need to work on your mental skills. It's important that you're not just physically strong, but mentally as well."
"I understand," I replied, although I wasn't sure how to implement that. "I'll try to improve."
"Remember that we're all here to survive," he added. "Each of us has a goal, and we need to work together to achieve it."
The leader's words echoed in my mind as I reflected on what he had said. *Goals? What is my goal here?* I had been teleported to this world to help, and now I had the responsibility for my own survival and that of others.
Days passed, and I found myself gradually adapting to this new reality. I learned to use the weapons, to understand the soldiers' tactics, and to recognize the different types of Titans. Yet, while I struggled to become a part of this world, I felt that I was still seen as an outsider. *I'm not one of them, and I can't forget that I don't belong here.*
One night, while the soldiers gathered around the campfire, I sat a little apart and observed them. They shared stories about past battles, lost friends, and the hope of one day defeating the Titans. I felt like an outsider, and the feeling of not belonging gnawed at me.
"Hey, Kael! Come here!" Jean called, waving me over. Hesitantly, I stood up and walked over to them. "Tell us about your world! Is it really that different?"
I hesitated for a moment, but I knew I had to take the opportunity to open up. *Maybe this is how I can become part of them.*
"Well, my world is... different," I began. "There are no Titans, and we live in cities with tall buildings. People look different, and we have technology that might seem strange to you."
The soldiers listened with interest, and I felt the atmosphere lighten. "We have a form of entertainment called anime. It's stories told in pictures, and many of them are about battles and heroism."
"Heroism?" the leader asked skeptically. "What does that mean?"
"It means that people are willing to fight for others, even when it's dangerous," I explained. "In my world, there are stories of people who fight against evil and do everything to protect their friends."
"That sounds... interesting," murmured the leader, and I could see he was contemplating it.
"But that's just entertainment," I quickly added. "Here, it's real. You're really fighting against Titans and putting your lives on the line!"
The soldiers were silent for a moment, and I could feel the respect they had for the fight. "It's not easy," Jean finally said. "But we do it for our friends and family. Each of us has a reason to fight."
As I saw the determination in his eyes, I felt something change within me. *Maybe I can find a reason to fight here too.*
"I admire your courage," I finally said. "I want to fight to help you. I don't want to be just a coward trapped in another world."
The soldiers smiled at me, and I felt that I had taken a step in the right direction. *I'm ready to give my best to survive here and maybe even make a difference.*
The night passed, and as I sat in the darkness, I thought about my decision. *I'm here to fight. I'm here to help.* And as I stared into the night, I was sure I would embrace my fate in this world, no matter how challenging it might be.
