Chapter 6 - The Decision of the Fighter

The first rays of the morning sun broke through the darkness, bathing the headquarters in a warm light. The night had been quiet, and I had hardly slept as I pondered the words of the soldiers. *I'm here to fight. I'm here to help.* Yet the decision I had made weighed heavily on my shoulders. I knew I couldn't just be a spectator; I had to become part of the fight.

After breakfast, the soldiers gathered in the training area. The leader had announced that we would conduct a special exercise today to improve our skills in battling the Titans. I felt nervous as I lined up among the soldiers. *What if I fail?*

"Today we will focus on teamwork," the leader explained as he looked at us. "We need to work together to defeat the Titans. Each of you will be assigned to groups, and you will try various tactics to distract and defeat the Titans."

I scanned the other soldiers and noticed how they prepared for the upcoming drills. *I must give my best. I can't let them doubt me.*

The groups were assigned, and I found myself in one with Jean, another soldier named Mikasa, and the leader. "You're part of our team now, Kael," Jean said, patting me on the shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll help you."

"Thanks," I replied, trying to hide my nervousness. *I can do this.*

The first exercise involved battling a dummy Titan made of wood and straw. "The goal is to overwhelm the Titan and bring it down before it reaches you," the leader explained. "This will test your reaction time and teamwork."

As we approached the dummy, I felt the adrenaline coursing through my veins. *This isn't real, Kael. You can do it.*

"Ready?" the leader called, and we nodded. "Go!"

We charged at the dummy, and I felt alive. Each of us had a role: Jean and Mikasa would attack from the sides while I tried to distract the dummy from the front. I took a deep breath and ran forward, my hands clenched into fists.

The dummy Titan raised its "hands" and approached me as I ducked and jumped to the side. Jean and Mikasa attacked simultaneously, and I felt the energy surging through me. *This is the fight I've always dreamed of!*

"Now!" I shouted as I focused on the dummy. I lunged forward, trying to hit the Titan's "nape." With Jean and Mikasa's support, we managed to bring the dummy down. A feeling of triumph washed over me, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Well done!" the leader shouted as the dummy fell. "That was good teamwork. This is how we need to act in a real fight."

But while I savored the brief moment of success, I knew I couldn't let my guard down. *This is just a drill. The real Titans are much more dangerous.*

We repeated the exercise several times, and I could feel myself improving. I learned to observe the movements of others, and I began to feel more comfortable in the group. *Maybe I can actually become a part of them.*

After training, we regrouped. The leader looked at us seriously. "We have reports of a group of Titans moving near the city. It's time for us to prepare and take action."

A sense of tension spread through the group. *This is what I've trained for.* "What can we do?" I asked, trying to hide my nervousness.

"We need to secure the civilians and then distract the Titans," the leader explained. "We can't let them reach the city."

"I can help!" I shouted without hesitation. "I have some ideas we can implement!"

The leader studied me, and I felt all eyes on me. "What do you suggest?"

"If we set up some traps and then create noise, we can distract the Titans and lure them away," I explained as I tried to organize my thoughts. "We can also use a group of soldiers as a distraction while another group evacuates the civilians."

The soldiers looked at each other, and I could sense the hesitation in their faces. *I hope they believe me.*

"That could work," Jean finally said. "We have to try."

The leader nodded, and I felt the tension in my stomach ease. "Alright. We'll implement your plan. But be careful. We all need to work together to survive."

With those words, we set out to put our plans into action. The headquarters was in turmoil, and I could feel the nervous energy in the air. *This is it, Kael. This is your moment.*

We reached the city and began to set up the traps. I showed the soldiers how to create sounds to attract the Titans. The soldiers worked quickly and efficiently, and I felt like I was becoming part of something larger.

"We're ready!" the leader shouted as we withdrew and positioned the traps. "Now we need to wait and observe how the Titans react."

Minutes passed, and I felt the tension in the air grow. *What if my plan doesn't work?* Yet, as I waited, I also sensed a strange determination. *I'm here to fight. I'm here to help.*

Suddenly, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. The Titans came into view, and I felt my heart race. "They're here!" I shouted as I warned the others.

The Titans appeared hungry and aggressive, and I could see the fear in the soldiers' eyes. *This is the moment I have to show what I've learned.*

"Now!" the leader shouted, and we activated the traps. Noise filled the air, and the Titans turned away, drawn to the sounds. *It's working!*

The soldiers seized the opportunity to evacuate the civilians while I, along with Jean and Mikasa, prepared to distract the Titans. "We need to lead them further away from the city!" I shouted, feeling the adrenaline pulsating through my veins.

We charged forward, and I could feel the Titans closing in. *This isn't a game. This is the real fight.* As we approached the Titans, I glanced at the faces of my comrades. *I can do this. I must stay strong.*

Just as I jumped toward one of the Titans to distract it, I felt time slow down. The Titans were enormous, and I could sense the danger they posed. But I knew I couldn't give up. *I'm here to fight!*

With a powerful leap, I tried to get past the Titan to distract it. "Over here!" I shouted, throwing a stone in the opposite direction. *Come on, Titan!*

The Titans reacted to the noise and turned their attention to me. The leader and the other soldiers took advantage of the distraction to launch their attacks. *This is working!*

I felt the fear rising within me as I tried to escape the Titan. Its massive hands closed around me, and I ducked to avoid being caught. *I can't let this happen!*

"Kael, watch out!" Mikasa shouted as she rushed to help me. Together we fought against the Titan while the other soldiers took position to deliver the decisive blow. *We have to make this work!*

The sounds of battle filled the air, and I felt the adrenaline coursing through my veins. *This is the fight I'm here for. I won't give up!*

With one final, determined shout, I surged forward, trying to distract the Titan while the others landed the decisive hit. The Titan staggered back and finally fell to the ground, and I felt the tension within me release.

"We did it!" I shouted as I ran toward the other soldiers. "We defeated the Titan!"

But as I celebrated, I felt a dark premonition rising within me. *This was just the beginning.* The Titans would return again and again, and I had to be ready to face them.

As we withdrew and brought the civilians to safety, I knew I wasn't just fighting for myself but for all the people who counted on us. *I'm here to help, and I will do everything to survive.*

The sun set, and in the twilight, I felt the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. *I'm no longer a spectator. I'm a fighter in this world, and I will not give up.*
