Gwen looked down, preparing for Thorndyke's next words but what he said shocked her beyond limits.
"She was with me last night," he looked at General Sylveryon right in the eye and Gwen widened her eyes in pure surprise.
Gwen's heart skipped a beat. She certainly didn't expect Thorndyke to come to her defence, especially when it would put him in the same situation as her. She shot him a sideways glance, her eyes wide with surprise.
The room was filled with a tense silence as everyone present took in Thorndyke's surprising statement. General Sylveryon looked at Thorndyke intently, trying to gauge the truth from his words. Professor Winguard, on the other hand, looked at Thorndyke with suspicion, his jaw clenched.
"Cadet Thorndyke, are you certain about this?" General Sylveryon asked, his tone serious. "Are you saying that the two of you were together last night, after the curfew?"
