"Well, well, well," Steinforth said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, "look who it is. Gwendolyn Evegheden, in the flesh."
Gwen tried to calm her nerves and rolled her eyes, refusing to let him get under her skin. "Save the pleasantries, Duncan. Let's just get this over with," she replied, her voice cool and collected.
Professor Winguard raised his hand, signaling the start of the match.
Duncan's grin widened, clearly enjoying her attempt at indifference. "You really think you can beat me, huh? That's cute."
Gwen clenched her fists, her annoyance growing with every word he said. "We'll see who's cute when I knock you off your high horse," she retorted, her voice cold and defiant.
"Begin!" the professor announced, backing up.
Duncan chuckled at Gwen's comment, his eyes gleaming with arrogance. "Oh, I'd love to see you try," he said, his tone smug.
Without a warning, he pounced on her.
