Chapter 7 - Handsome Jerk II

Chapter Seven:

Seraphina's POV

I walked to the receptionist's table but halfway, I realized there wasn't a receptionist. A door separated the entrance from the worker's office and with how quiet the worker's office was, I could tell there was no one there as well.

Someone was getting down the flight of stairs and I stayed at the end waiting for them. They'd have to be an high ranked worker.

A young boy of five jumped down three stairs at once and nearly lost his balance, he laughed at himself till he locked eyes with me.

Why was I meeting beautiful people today? He had the same facial features with the girl outside, but with black curly hair. He stepped back on a stair above, watching me cautiously. I still waited for the older person coming down.

"What is it, Ed?"

That voice sounded familiar and in an upsetting way. I took steps towards the stairs. "Excuse me, but I'd like to see...."

Of course, that's why I'd be upset. When he recognized me, his green eyes darkened and there was a clash of disgust there again. My fists balled on their own accord.

"What are you doing in here?" I asked first. I lowered my voice when I noticed the little boy flinched.

I didn't see any similarity between the beautiful boy and the jerk that rather let me freeze than be a good person. "I came here to see the current heard of this company."

If that was him then I'd instantly start suspecting. The chances were high since he was draped in expensive satin clothes on classy shoes with high platforms, but they weren't workplace clothes so I had my reservations.

For someone who lived in a small cabin at the forest of my pack, he seemed to have connections to bigger places. Yet another reason to suspect him.

He scoffed and got down the stairs while holding the boy in his hands. "You are a wolf from that poor pack, aren't you? If you are looking for a job, then sorry, this corporation has enough cleaners."

How could he judge me like that? He brushed past me and I held my arms that really hurt after the collision with his muscular arm. "You are an unrepentant jerk.*

"And you should be on your way." He opened the door for me. The security outside looked in and frowned when they saw me. Why did they act like I was a criminal?

I couldn't end things this way. I needed to speak to the head of this corporation and get a way forward from all these. That was the purpose of being reborn again. This wasn't just my revenge, but revenge for my family.

Just when the security stepped into the building to drag me out, I frantically sped up the stairs. I heard them running after me and my heart raced.

"Ah, what a desperate little bitch!" that jerk screamed from downstairs. I barely knew him but I really wanted to sucker punch him and tie him to a light pole while it rained.

I reached the last floor and barged into the first office I saw. I closed it instantly and held my beating chest. I turned to a chair turned back but I could see the head of the one of the seat.

"'Ah, what a desperate little bitch', was Percy talking about you, Miss?" the young man on the seat asked. He sounded young but probably in his early twenties.

The door got banged on and I jumped, moving away from it. "Young Master, are you okay? Young master, answer us!" the guards frantically knocked and banged. It reminded me of the guard who wanted to protect my aunt's children.

With the way the security sounded so worried, and this young man likely being the young master, was he the son of my aunt who could be the next victim by the conspirators?

I arranged my clothes and hair to introduce myself. "I am not a desperate little bitch, far from that. I am Seraphina Jones and I really needed to speak to your mother, Evelyn Zen, but I heard she died."

Before now, his seat and been rocking slowly but it stopped when I said who I was. The seat spun around slowly and he kept his arms on the table, holding his head.

I gulped down nothing as I felt an intensity coming from his blue eyes. One that reminded me of Alpha Sebastian. He looked like an older version of the little boy I met so I assumed the three of them were all siblings, my cousins.

"Seraphina Jones, the only daughter of aunty Stephy, right?"

He spoke of her with a familiar tone. This was probably because my mother always stayed in touch with her younger sister and kids, but for some reasons, she never brought me along. This was why I suspected her younger sister of being dangerous but it seemed not to be the case.

"Yes." I answered. "My father died today, and my mother died three months before that. Today, I learnt that my aunt died two months ago. I don't think its a coincidence."

"Because its not." He left his seat.

I backed away as I could tell he'd tower over me if he came closer. Thankfully, he rested on his table and smiled. "Nice to meet you, Seraphina. I've only seen a picture of you when you were the same age as Ed?"

Ed? Right, the jerk had called the little boy that name. I'd really want to do the catching up and getting to know each other thing but the thought that someone would kill me in the next three years hunted me.

Also, now that I was aware of the plot, and would be more conscious, wouldn't it set them off to kill me faster? I also had no idea if my cousins had survived long enough after the death of their mother.

Perhaps, it was because my mother hid me well enough that I was able to live long enough in my past life.

"Nice to meet you too, but are you the current head of this company?" if he was, I'd have no questions.

Whether or not I should be the one to inherit it could wait till we settled the mystery of who was killing us.

"No." He folded his arms. "Percy is."

Percy? My eyes widened. Did he mean that handsome for nothing jerk?
