Chereads / Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger / Chapter 4 - Taking over the responsibilities

Chapter 4 - Taking over the responsibilities

"Miss, please take Anthony with you," Frank begged again and stood in Sienna's way, stopping her from leaving without any guard.

"But.."

"Miss, please. It's for your safety. Otherwise, we will not allow you to leave," Agnes added and stood behind her husband as his support. Even though she was afraid of her young miss, the fear from before, when she had glared at her lingering in her heart, Agnes didn't budge and remained adamant.

Sienna didn't know if she should laugh or cry. Shaking her head helplessly, she relented when she couldn't reject them anymore.

"Fine, fine. I'll do as you say," She agreed.

Anthony was initially her brother, Trevis' personal guard. Being highly skilled and trained, he was someone her brother depended on. Sienna didn't doubt his skills, even more so considering he was Anges and Frank's son.

"Let's go, Anthony," Sienna agreed and finally, the couple moved away from her path, allowing her to leave.

Anthony didn't speak a word and followed her to the car. Even after starting the car, he didn't say anything. He remained silent, unlike his usual self.

"Your parents are adorable," Sienna commented, initiating a small conversation with him. All she got in return was more silence. But this time, he passed her a smile through the mirror.

Sienna sighed, and her shoulders dropped. "You don't have to blame yourself, Anthony. It wasn't your fault."

"No, Miss. It was my fault." Anthony replied at last. "If only I had stayed by Sir's side, then maybe I could have saved them."

"It's not your fault, Anthony. Who knew that they would be attacked and murdered all of a sudden? Do you think you'd have remained alive if you stayed behind with my brother?"

"But Miss..."

"It's a well thought out plan, Anthony. Otherwise, why would all the guards suffer from diarrhea at the same time?"

"Miss, I believe someone betrayed us," Anthony declared after thinking for some time.

"Oh, why do you say so?" Sienna quirked her brows, interested to know his thoughts.

"Miss, we didn't eat or drink anything at the event. We must have consumed the thing that affected us before we entered the event," Anthony analyzed and Sienna listened to him, a thought creeping up in her mind.

'Should I trust him? I trust Agnes and Frank. But can I trust their son?' she wondered, and observed him silently.

"All I remember is sipping water from a bottle before entering the event," Anthony recalled what had happened and frowned thoughtfully.

"Was it from an unsealed bottle?"

"Yes, Miss. But I drank it because Gigi gave it to me."

"But I don't think Gigi is the culprit. She died trying to protect my sister,' Sienna mused and leaned back as she tried to recall the information she had with her.

Along with her family, five guards too were implicated in the shootout and had lost their lives. One among them was Gigi, her sister's guard.

Anthony chose not to comment this time and continued driving.

"I want to meet all the guards who attended the event that day," Sienna instructed. Even though Gigi had died, it didn't mean she was innocent. What if she had sacrificed her life for a bigger motive?

"Yes, Miss. Where are we going?" They had now driven out of the estate and had reached the main road.

"To the police station. Let's check their progress in the case." Sienna smirked and started scrolling through her tablet. Now that the responsibility had fallen onto her shoulders, she had to ensure she didn't slip up. The share prices had fallen in the last three days, and she had to do something to stabilize the situation.

Sienna leaned back, a headache sneaking in on her.

"Miss, are you alright?"

"Yes, Anthony. Don't worry." Sienna sighed and returned to her tablet. Switching the tabs, she checked the projects they were currently handling. She had to bring in benefits as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the shareholders would kick up a fuss for sure.

Sienna thought about it and bit her lower lip. 'Most of the projects are still ongoing and would take a few months to end. I can't wait until then and the ones nearing the finish soon aren't enough to stabilize the market. I need a banger to create an impact and shut the shareholders' mouths.'

'Simon, forward me the details of all the projects Dad was yet to approve.' She sent the message to her father's assistant first. Since he was the man closest to her father, he was bound to have information on all the projects that were pending to be approved.

'Forward me the details of all the project proposals yet to be presented.' She then texted her assistant along with her brother's and sister's assistants. Sienna was more interested in her sister's projects. Since Leah was the CFO, she'd have known which project would yield profits.

Sienna received responses from all the people. Since she had asked for a lot of information at once, it'd take them some time to consolidate everything and send it to her.

Sienna wasn't in a hurry. The situation wasn't that perturbing yet. There wasn't a need for her to panic.

"What happened to the second branch?" Sienna questioned, not looking up from the tablet.

"Miss, the police have taken the three people for questioning," Anthony replied instantly. "But it's impossible to keep them in the police station for more than a few hours. They will be out by the end of the day."

"Then let them pay for the damages they have caused. From the vase to Agnes' wounds, let them pay for the trauma they caused us. Inform Frank not to accept anything below 10 million dollars."

Anthony's lips twitched in amusement. But he didn't pity the perpetrators. The vase alone was 6.8 million dollars, and the lady was asking for more than three million dollars for causing trauma to her and his parents. 'What a killer move! I like it.'

Sienna had changed. Anthony noticed. She wasn't this intimidating or imperative before. It was as if her temperament had changed. He could see shadows of her father in her. Although she was adopted, she was definitely the child nurtured by the Lawrence family. Her demeanor was no joke.

"Miss, we have arrived," Anthony said as they neared the police station and Sienna looked out of the window instantly.

"Let's see how capable the police have been in tracking the murderers," Sienna mumbled, her lips arching into a smirk. "I hope they have a lead. Otherwise, I'll show them hell."
